Remember, all the themes are made as a dynamic suite for the fight. The round 1-3, the between rounds, and the low health. If you're finding parts that become intense or scary (or in Jamie's case, warped), that's the character's pov of the low health. In cases, like Ken's theme, it sounds more determined like his last stand before getting knocked out. In Lily's case, it's very "Oh, no! I'm gonna lose!"

I never even thought of it like that. That makes alot of sense. Still wild how all the grapplers/powerhouses have them way sound more sinister.

@@Tr1zzle Yeah, I get you. Marisa's, for example, has that sort of "Can I break you or will I be the one crumpled on the ground?" feeling when it gets to the low health part. I totally get if the dynamic feel isn't for everyone, but I like it as it does feel like musical storytelling. To the point where, yeah, you get a bit of a window into what the character is feeling as the battle progresses.

Oh, yeah, and I do appreciate that you actually took the time to listen to all 18 songs in their entirety. So many that rate these OSTs only listen to the first bit, which is usually just round 1 and maybe some of round 2, but a lot of these songs reach their best part at round 3. Understandable, as usually you expect just a loop (and the individual rounds do loop in game), but these are full arrangements, so you genuinely miss out by not giving them their time. Anyway, forgive the rant. A bit of an OST nerd, haha. I'd definitely be interested to see you do this again when the full stage themes are released.

Zangief's sf6 theme always gets a bad rep but i always thought it gives the vibe of a wrestler making his entrance to the ring before a match.

Zilra Zilra does such a fantastic job at implementing elements from Brazilian music genres (Brazilian funk, samba, capoeira) that I have no idea what they’d do for Laura or Sean if either of them came back. Absolutely fantastic track.

22:32 I’m late but maybe Lilys theme gets a little more ominous because at the end of Dhalsims story in Arcade Mode he says that Lily’s wind spirit (Toyno'Ikonoi) has the same presence as the Satsui no Hado.

My favorites are JP, Zangief and Manon. Marisa, AKI, Jamie, DeeJay and Juri aren't bad because it fits with their personnalities. The rest is meh.

One thing with these recordings is the point where you’re on the verge is losing us the last part of the tracks, so a lot of them feeling they fizzle. The music in actual gameplay is more dynamic based on round and situation.

On the Luke and DeeJay thems just sort of fizzling out, Capcom decided to put the "Low Health" portions right at the end of the song. A lot of songs on the OST could have benefited from using them as build-up instead of enders. Fete Foraine is one of the hardest hit, IMO. I prefer fan mixes to the official one.

Honestly, I'd just move Blanka's Zilra Zilra to Run that back. I'm Brazilian tho, so hearing someone nailing our sound like that, and alst being super creative with it, is just straight up amazing. I legit listen to that song daily, in the middle of my playlist with some brazilian and american hip hop, and brazilian funk.

I do like Chun-Li's theme from the pespective of what she got before that. It was the most cookie-cutter, generic asian music they could find, now it has character. I must admit that it gets weaker the longer it goes on, the beginning is pretty good imo. Imho Guile's is the weakest theme of the original roster.

Chun Li's theme didn't deserve that smoke, especially with all the references to past Capcom games slipped in there like "Take You For a Ride". Guile's theme deserved "Worst". I genuinely don't know who it is supposed to appeal to, especially coming off Guile's SFV theme which is hands down one of THE best tracks in Capcom's library, period.

You gotta do the stage themes too! I'm not a huge fan of JP's theme so I would have put him in Mid or low Lab. I'd probably have put Luke's in Mid as well. Love 'Gief's, Marisa's, and Honda's themes. at the top though. I rewound Dhalsim's theme so much but I'd probably still not run it back. I can feel the heat in that one.
