Former Sex Traffic Victim saves herself by loving herself despite all odds. Glad the FBI was involved but it was ultimately all up to Amber to be strong and not accept a life of prostitution. She is someone her kids can be proud of. To have gone through these experiences and not have been broken into pieces that could not be put together. She is able to know she deserves to live a better life and is doing the work to have a better future for herself and her children. I hope her partner knows how special she is and supplements her self love with nothing but respect and admiration.

Amber- of all interviews Mark has posted on this channel, you are one of the most articulate and straightforward speakers, sharing your trauma and struggles to create a healthy future (which is an everyday challenge to stay on track and get up when you fall). As messed up as your childhood was, those experiences inform the person you've grown into, to have empathy for people facing troubles and help them make their lives better, as others gave you guidance and resources to build yourself into an adult in control of your future.

No prostituted woman does this voluntarily. All studies show the commonality between childhood abuse and neglect in prostituted womens lives. Once you learn that you don’t have bodily autonomy and boundaries it’s hard to get out, this is psychological, emotional and physical abuse that happens to a woman in this “trade”.

When exactly did god protect her? As an 8 year old forced touch give oral sex to random men? As a raped 13 year old? When she was at high school being raped by a security guard or maybe later as a victim of sex trafficking. It seems to me that after 2 decades of torture she helped herself. The FBI seemed to have been influential. It’s almost as if you said what you without thinking. I mean being omnipotent couldn’t god have just “inspired” her to not want to get into contact with her mum. I mean that’s what all powerful means. But maybe god in his wisdom knew she needed to learn a lesson via child rape. After all he would have know being omniscient what would happen. Go on report me because the truth. Real truth hurts

This woman right here. This is a woman of virtue. You can just tell she has a good, honest and kind soul and after listening to this I just wanted to shake her hand and give her a hug. This is by far my favorite interview I’ve seen on this channel as far as sex work goes. Amber says it straight up on what the industry really is. Some of the women on the sex work interviews I’ve seen on here almost seem like they’re promoting it or something, and it gives me bad vibes. I know it all has to do with backgrounds though. What we are almost solely depends on how we’re raised. And yet, Amber has not let her unfortunate upbringing decide who she is or what she can be. I wish you all the luck Amber, truly.

Yes, I'm a former "voluntary" sex worker, had an ACE of 5. I told myself it was empowering, I chose it, blah blah. Not one girl I worked with was "healthy", every single one had issues. I had friends try to do the work, friends who were healthy, they didn't last more than 2 hours. My friends who had ACEs and got into it could do the work. Because of course. I healed, and realized, "oh fuck. I marginalized myself because I had low self esteem." really humbling. it's not a choice, when your trauma is making the choice for you.

Listened to her story and my heart was sad. When my own offspring had left for college, I knew I could love and have a child (5th grade onward) to foster, love and if they wished, adopt. I was turned down by the state, and two private agencies. Why? Was a single woman. Salary was good; stable employment for over 12 years with same company, an honorably discharged veteran. Because at that time, being a single woman and wanting to parent - and it was a no. So sad. I believe there are homes which could offer so much-but non-traditional, so not selected or even considered. Wishing her all my best-healing from those painful times and being strong to raise her own children-better and stronger.

I'm sorry. Single women and men are often viewed as undesirable parents even when they have a proven history of excellent parenting. I don't understand the formula for how those decisions are made. I just know that after 35 years of experience with teens with deeply challenging behaviors and developmental disabilities, a single loving solid parent who provides structure, heart, and consistency can save a life. I am deeply sorry that you did not have the opportunity to pass on your love and skills to a person in need. Times are changing...out of necessity. Love to you and yours and all the children you have helped and raised in your life.

It is wonderful to look at the portrait of a woman who has managed to escape from prostitution, modern slavery and the drug addiction that goes with it. I wish Amber and her little family all the best from the bottom of my heart. It's great that Amber has found and nurtured love for herself. What this brief portrait shows again is that early sexual abuse is a fast track into prostitution. It is all the more important to educate children in such a way that they know that nobody is allowed to do anything with their bodies and that they can always confide in their parents in particular. Everyone who has to do with children and young people should be made aware of the dangers. The teacher failed in Amber's case. I think it's a scandal that Amber's biological mother had visitation rights despite severe drug addiction. I know that many drug addicts see it differently. But they made drugs their priority over their kids.

Truthfully, my life hasn't been pretty, but I've covered myself, raised my mother's kids, and managed not to die. Do they love me? They all say so...but I hear the hint of disgust in all of their voices...I had to fight for my survival and theirs, inch by inch while being shamed and humiliated and SAed. And we lived...I win. Now I am old, have cared for hundreds of children, and continue to care for the guilty and the greedy who still survive in my family. There is hope. @@mikelobue1431 I believe that my saving grace was the fear I saw in the faces around me. At six years old, I had an infant sister, a self-centered mother, an older, genius of a brother, and a brilliant and gifted father who worked three jobs. They were all in their own way, extraordinary. They were also very overwhelmed, hypersensitive, and terrified of every grueling aspect of life. And then there was me. I was just normal and sturdy and loved each of them for their sheer frailty. I invented my own kind of ABA therapy just to survive. Act as if...practice it...and it will be so. Write Mom's college papers, get sister bathed and put to bed, go get brother out of the drug house, tell dad everyone's fine, fend off mom's boyfriend, fend off brother, clean, do homework, rock sister, give cough syrup, and doze until alarm rings. Repeat...It is the service to others that saved me and an almost military-like control. See the human, pick up the human, and move on...and always see the humor. I see that grace in Amber. She doesn't hate herself. She is humble. She didn't have great expectations. She took what she was given and survived. She never asked why her, but why not her. It's not that she deserved to be treated cruelly, but she was always looking forward to another time when she might be safe and she might have a life. She values life.

I was touched at 5 and 7 years old. Although my situation isn’t anywhere near yours but I feel your pain. My gf had a similar childhood neglect by her mother led to so many unfortunate situations with older men taking advantage. She ran away at 15 right into her uncle and cousin molested her for years.

Our hypersexual culture needs to come to an end. It's due to this that so many children are affected. Not every conversation or situation has to be sexual in nature, just for the sake of impressing/ seeking validation outside of oneself. It is more vital that we respect each other than reduce something/ someone to sexual objects. Sexual conversation has its place but do it with respect

I'm left with so many questions...like how did the adoptive mom not pick up on the fact that her mom was clearly messed up? Did she drop her of for visits and not notice her mom wasn't right? It boggles my mind. Makes you realize people either have no instinct to pick up on something being wrong or they completely ignore it.

I love your positive attitude and especially love the fact you didn't bash your adopted mother. I fostered kids for 8 years, did above and beyond for them and their family and was not appreciated. I know how home visits are not good for kids when they go back home for visits with no boundaries or structure. When they get into their teenage years they get out of control because they are confused. So hard. I am so proud of you for becoming the beautiful young lady you made a choice to become. Keep on track and you will succeed. Big hugs! You are a smart young lady, stay away from your biological mom. She will just drag you down. You owe her nothing. A single woman adopted 2 of you. You girls were so blessed to get adopted by a good woman.

Hearing about her experience and just the energy she gave off, I could tell that there was going to be some sort of happier ending. She has children and a relationship where they are both parenting and trying to be in a "normal" relationship despite everything that she has been through and the after effects that I'm sure she still deals with on a daily basis. Im the oldest bio kid in a family that fostered and I've had many foster siblings that Ive been raised with. Its 100% natural and common for kids to want to seek out a relationship with their bio parents. Every one of my siblings ran away at some point to find their mom... quite often it did not turn out well but it doesnt mean its the kids fault, they are just kids and they want their mom. Im so sorry that no one was there to protect you. You are aware of the things you want to change and you have already taken a very different path with your own children.
