@MsLilBit8344
@MsLilBit8344 8 ай бұрын
@@debrameadows6289 Idk who told you that but thats incorrect. SSI doesn't count one vehicle and one home. A second vehicle or a secondary home would be counted. One of four things. They are either counting someone else's income in your home, or they are reducing your check saying you aren't paying your fair share (like if someone pays for your food which that law has changed or will be changing) or they are reducing it for an overpayment. Or if you have another source of income they would reduce SSI. You should call SSA and get answers. If it was SSA that told you that please keep in mind it takes two years for those agents to learn their job thoroughly and they are having an extremely difficult time keeping people. One other possibility they could have some confusion over the mortgage being paid and someone documented somewhere you was getting assistance with housing and again the agent didn't understand what was wrong. I've had agents in the past give plenty of inaccurate information. You can do a Google search. Owning or buying a house doesn't count against you unless it's a vacation or rental (in which case you'd be disqualified from SSI) Twenty years ago I had an agent tell me if I work failed i'd be homeless. Which was completely inaccurate I was on section 8 and dual benefits (SSI and SSDI) Please reach out to SS and see why your payment is being reduced and what you need to do to have it reinstated. No one should be forced to live like that. If you own your own house can you rent out a room to help you cover taxes, insurance and utilities? It could be helpful. Good luck. I hope your situation gets better.

After a 15 year childless marriage, I paid Permanent Alimony for ten years. Then being unemployed since 2010, started collecting SS in 2016. Taken back to court, I've been ordered to pay 65% until death. No one can believe this is possible. Divorced in Palm Beach Florida, living in Florida, is this even legal? Living on only 35% of SS is devastating, and caused my latest spouse of 22 years to take her life.

Hey Ed, these ads that talk of a cash allowance debit card for folks 65 or older that supposedly is from medicare, but kept "secret" that by filling out a 2 or 3 question form online, is this a phising scamm? I called Medicare and was informed that they are unaware of such an additional allowance. If this is a scamm,, they are targeting an already desperate income dependant populace. You might do a video on this as well.

I went out on a 6-month Short Term (Paid) Disability plan that I paid for through my Employer at the School District in December 2020. I was approved for Lomg Term Disability for only 5 months. Then I was approved for SSDI in March 2023. I was 60 when I first went out on Short Term Disability. I'm now 64 and will be 65 in April 2025. Can I now file for my Social Security? Can I claim both SSDI and SSI at the same time? When I stopped working at the School District, I unfortunately left before my 5-year vesting period. I recently learned from PERS Benefits that I would need to return to work for 6 months and 29 days, then will qualify to receive my PERS Benefits. If I return to work, can I get both SSDI and my PERS Benefits, without any deductions in my SSDI Check?

Great information, I'm 62 and disabled I haven't worked a full time job since 2008, not sure if I should file for disability or retirement. I do have enough credits from my full time job. Any suggestions would be great.
@MyGovExpert
@MyGovExpert 9 ай бұрын
You can file for retirement and disability at 62 at the same time. However, for disability, you also have to be currently insured, which means you had to work and pay into Social Security five out of the last ten years.

Don't wait on filing for disability. On disability work credits expire. You definitely should apply for disability. Taking early retirement is reduced. Disability would not be reduced.

@MyGovExpert
@MyGovExpert 9 ай бұрын
Yes, but if you get a Medicare Advantage plan, Part D is usually bundled together. If you get a Medicare Supplement plan, then you have to get Medicare Part D separately. If you want, let me know, and I can have someone call you about a month or two before you start and get you all set up.

New Sub Here, enjoying what I'm seeing. Excellent show! I will be checking out more of your video's. Thank you for what you do here on your channel. I found you while researching SSI options. I'm at a crossroads and would like to go back to part time self employment. Is the ticket to work program the way to go? I do still have medically disabling factors, but I'm tired of sitting around and not being a contributing human on this planet. I feel I could at least put in a few hours a day and be okay health wise. I mean I won't know until I try, correct? I just can't lose my medical benefits. Among other things, I am a two heart attack survivor and will be on medication for the rest of my life. Again, thank you for what you do here and your time. Oh and yes to the male pattern baldness cure!🤣

Thank you! Glad you found us! Yes, if you are thinking about returning to work the Ticket to Work program is a great way to start since the whole system is way too complicated. Or, you can call your Area Work Incentives Coordinator at your local office...they can help too. ...hopefully your new work will be looking for that cure! lol

Hum...I was told survivors at 60 and you get it no matter how much you earn. But if disabled ten there is/was a set limit on income. 🤔 I think my two local ss office folks had gotten the Mars training classes cause nothing or very little match up with things I'm told and read. 🤔

It's really difficult to keep your job wages under that SSA Limit.... But.... I would suggest to keep earning as much as possible because it will help to increase your own SSA Amount when you finally take your own....

Thank you Professor Ed! This video helps me realize how to approach my retirement benefits in 3 years. God willing- i will be 60 years old in July 2025. I am navigating to educate myself regarding the ins and outs of retirement. I wish to retire at the age of 62. After watching this video, I learned that I can apply for retirement and disability at the same time, with Medicare benefits!

Mr Ed- many banks stopped accepting Direct Express here. However, I go to the federal credit union and they process my DE card as a Visa cash transaction to give me the cash. There is no charge on it. Might be an option for some people. ❤

I retired early because of a work related disability. It was close, but I think I was 64.5. But I got no disability and Social Security at the same time. Should I go back and file for that? I think I filed for Social Security one month late. So this would besomething I had to find out from Social Security when I started getting my Social Security and when I actually retired. How would I go about solving that issue? Even if it’s a few hundred dollars, I would like to have it since I think I deserve it.
