I can empathize with them because I've lost my parents and I remember the pain I felt when each passed away. Mitchell and Webb sketch called Talent Dredge is basically the first thing that comes to mind every time I hear these people start giving these nebulous justification. Like I'm not allowed to objectively judge the quality of the game because his father passed away. There are 8 billion people in the world, 100 thousand people die every day, a death of a father may be sad, but in the great scheme of thing it's as frequent as taking a breath, so while it's a personal tragedy, it's not a societal tragedy, nobody else is obligated to care whether things you do are to honor your father or not.
