First time I've ever heard Mike Shreve teach, and this is the best exposure of yoga I've ever heard. The problem with most Christian expositors who talk about Hinduism is that they can tell something is wrong there, but their attempt to describe what's wrong often sounds like prejudice, ignorance, and projection mixed in with imagination. This man has learned enough about it by experience to really point out and critique the right things the right way.

Brother Mike has a special place in my life. He spoke a word over me in the early 2000’s in our church with his dear friend Rev. Charles Davis. He saw the mantle falling on me as with Elisha. My grandfather was Pastor at that time and Many things transpired after that day. Rev. Davis would go on to Pastor another church and I would end up succeeding him after his passing and in 2019 came back to my home church to Pastor. Brother Mike is often in my thoughts and prayers and I’m so thankful for how God has used him and his message.

Gospel means good news. It is the good news that Jesus died on the cross as the ultimate sacrifice for our sins, so that we could be reconciled to a Holy God. When we confess our sins and accept Jesus as our Lord & Savior, He is faithful and true to forgive us and welcome us in to God's holy family as adopted sons and daughters.

I'm glad this information is getting more view time. I was certainly surprised the first time I learned of what yoga is. I like listening to testimonies of individuals who were in the new age/occult/witchcraft and every single one of them said no to yoga when asked. After learning the history and hearing the testimonies of different individuals (this gentleman is a new one for me), and of course looking at the Bible, yoga is dining with demons and Christians should not be sitting at the enemy's table.

I very much appreciate these guys’ take on spiritual realities bc they don’t call everything a demon. Does anyone know if they have ever spoke about entering Chinese temples, whether they be Buddhist, Tao, or a folk religion? We are going on a vision trip to explore being missionaries in Taiwan and there are three tours through temples planned - praying through temples, not participating. My question is if even entering a temple should not be done, if that in itself is participating and should not be done so as to not be demonized. My husband says we’re bringing light in and we need not fear demons, but I know Ken Fish has delivered many people from innocently touring these places. Please help guys! My husband and I greatly value your balanced opinion. Or if anyone knows where to look…

Older Comment and not who you wanted but my family were missionaries in Romania for about 18 years or so and there are many orthodox churches, monasteries, and such and I can say with confidence any place where worship occurs outside of worship in truth to God are very dark and spiritually oppressive and shouldn't be messed with unless you REALLY feel God is leading you that way. That said though the only way a demon can demonize you is if you have a door open so to speak, such as active repeated sin ( porn, gambling, etc), knowing participation in witchcraft, or certain traumas ( such as SA). You can not get demonized from just walking through a temple but realize that is their terf so to speak so I would suggest like I said only going in temples if you are sure God wants you to. A good book on the subject of demonization and deliverance as a whole is 'Pigs in the Parlor' by Frank and Ida Mae Hammond. God Bless.

40:58 You're referencing 1 Corinthians 10. But in 1 Corinthians 8, Paul also seems to think that eating food sacrificed to idols is ok if you have a strong conscience and are not causing a weaker brother to stumble. I think in chapter 10, he is coming against actually participating in the sacrificial ritual, since it's contrasted with breaking bread in the Christian sacrament of Communion. Some (SOME!) of these poses have good muscle stretching benefits. If you are not knowingly participating in Yoga as a spiritual practice or to invoke deities, is this only a matter of conscience? If your conscience does not permit you to stretch in such a way because all you can think about is a pagan deity, then don't do it. And don't cause a brother to stumble. Whatever does not proceed from faith is sin. (Romans 14:23) Otherwise, is it not purely a healthy muscle stretch? Is this what's going on here? I've done the cat-cow stretch for my back before in ignorance. It was a helpful stretch, and I didn't learn it from a Yoga teacher in a class. What should I do? Do I need deliverance?

Isn't it interesting that the kundalini power leads to the awakening of, in yoga language, the realization that one is God. It does bring to mind that serpent in the Garden who baited Eve with the promise that she would be like God. That serpent does get around and isn't it interesting that he himself wanted to take the place of God, to essentially become God, and he goes about trying to pattern people after himself in that sense.

I have heard that physical therapy borrows from yoga poses for some of its stretches. Does this mean that people who don't believe in any of this stuff are getting demonized by going through physical therapy? Does the Bible really teach that we can ignorantly worship pagan gods by inadvertantly doing something that is demonic in a pagan religion? I wonder how many things we ignorantly do that are or used to represent a ritual of some pagan religion. But it is still useful to know the connection of yoga with Hinduism. @@TheRemnantRadio It is impossible to play an ouija board without attempting to communicate with evil spirits. That’s the whole point of it. Conversely, It is not impossible to do yoga stretches, poses, sequences etc. without worshipping pagan gods. The average American grinding out “yoga” day during P90x is doing nothing more than trying to build muscle, flexibility, balance, etc. Better examples include eating meat that was once upon a time used as a sacrifice to idols. Or decorating an evergreen tree in December, which was historically done by various pagan groups to (1) ward off evil spirits, (2) tell a story that green plants would grow again when the “sun god” was strong and summer would return, and (3) memorialize the Egyptian “god” Ra’s recovery from illness …. until German Christians restructured the tradition to celebrate the mightyness of Christ.

He did an excellent job of explaining what yoga is and what it represents to the Christian. Any other spirit or religion that is not rooted in Jesus Christ is not of God. If you think all religions are good then I guess it makes sense that you think this is hateful. To call another persons god a demon seems mean. But in reality there is only one God and there is one truth. Whether that has emotional value being “hateful” is how emotionally invested you are in it. Muslims and Jews have the same thought. There is only one God and other gods are false in their religion. These are common beliefs. Even now in Hinduism in India there is major persecution of any non-Hindus because they believe their religion is the only way! The killing of innocents by Hindu radicals is true evil!
