Not seeking help or sympathy just trying to illustrate that becoming part of a community is not possible for some of us.

With all due respect, I am also in my 70s and dependent on both of those. Who told you you were going to lose Medicare and Social Security? The wicked idiot box, 75% of whose budget is paid by global pharmaceutical companies? I believe the incoming government will do things I don't like - I believe they may, like the other party, give too much power to the technocrats. But I have read no credible source (and MSNBC is a propaganda organ - I say that not as a conservative but someone who believed in nonpartisan journalism) that says Social Security will be eliminated. The only reason I see it being cut or eliminated is if the economy collapsed, and if that happens, almost everyone will be affected, even those not dependent on them. And Medicare pays way too many healthcare professionals too much for them to agree for it to be eliminated. Collapsing complexity is right. I fear other things, not the Handmaid's Tale nor Project 2025, just as the Right's shibboleth of "Communists" under the bed is wildly inaccurate. With all due respect. But it would be good if there were more sense of community. We are in the house of unknowing indeed.

Please allow me to offer an outside perspective: I am German and have been following the US elections closely, since the fate of my country is linked to it’s outcome. I will not venture to judge the internal affairs of the US - here I have no idea. But I saw what consequences US policies had for the region I live in. Let me start by saying this: I have met many Americans during the course of my life. I do not know what their political beliefs are, but I do know that all of them were thouroughly decent people. No exception. Maybe, Dear US Brothers and Sisters, this is what you should know about yourselves. You are, at your core, thouroughly decent people. Following the dictates of the American government blindly has led to disastrous consequences for my country. I live in one of the poorest parts of Germany. Jobs are scarce, and now many businesses had to close, people lost their jobs and are now loosing their homes. As a consequence of those policies the next German government will bring back the draft, which means that the boys and girls I watch going to school every morning will have a higher likelyhood to go to needless wars, kill, maim, be killed, be maimed and certainly be traumatized for good. And before someone points out that it is the other world leader who is responsible for this: maybe extend the curtesy of uncertainty to him as well? He is a human being, not Vlad the Impaler, and was a reliable partner to Germany for more than 20 years. To have a predsident elect in the US who at least is willing to talk (which the last administration categorically refused to do) is an incredible relief. My mother and father survived WW2 as young children, my mother was French, so she was on one side of the conflict, my father German, se he was on the other side. The trauma both of them carried was palpable - and never adressed which led to abuse and disruption in our family, and severe consequences for my brother and myself which we will have to carry for the rest of our lives. Wars have consequences which outlast those who wage them for generations. I pray for you. May you find peace, inside and out.

just b/c you have met some Americans briefly does not mean they are decent even if they treated you nicely. Decency is a behavior, an action, you don't earn a decency card and keep it for life. It is not decent to condone the actions of a rapist. It is not decent to give power to someone who makes fun of others, who is xenophobic, who has stated he will harm others who he perceives have slighted him. Therefore over 50% of voting Americans have not behaved decently. It is not decent to become emboldened by the election of a faschist and threaten, intimidate and harm others.

If I am an Native American Indian living and hunting for generations, and I see the white Calvary soldiers coming into my village and shooting and killing my family, my fear is justified and a normal human reaction, and if I fail to act on my fear, my wife and children will be slaughtered.

The majority of people don't care and a large percentage are sitting around praying or meditating, or being present etc, and none of them are doing anything that will change the way we are treated like minions. @notahouseАй бұрын
@@blaroym1 Unfortunately a true awakening is not something that is stumbled upon or can be given to another. It's not part of the program as most people will never wake up to that degree. It's true we all are one and have been since the beginning and yet here we are. Some things have to be literally experienced in order to truly understand. Like Glenda told Dorothy, "You've always had the power to go home but if I told you you wouldn't have believed me and had to experience it for yourself." Dorothy now knows that should she ever go looking for her heart's desires, she'll look no further than her own backyard (within). Her awareness and perception would not have changed without that actually happening in some shape or form. Everything is about balance, especially in this duality and there are more to the right and left then in the center, which is why so many see things in black and white having no shades of gray. I totally get what you are saying but God (Universe, Higher-self, interpretation varies...) makes itself available to everyone but not everyone makes themselves available to God. That doesn't make them separate but it hinders being a co-creator, which is our true nature. We allow the outside to dictate the inside when it should be the other way around as we are to be in the world but not of it. ❤

Words can be imperfect containers for the ideas we intend for them to carry. I think in time humans will find the language to bridge elements of science with elements of metaphysics, and progressively more as time goes on. We're barely getting started : ) That said, I don't believe that belief is a choice, but emergent, rather, and that actions or thoughts based on belief are reflexive (e.g. stand in front of a car coming at you. If you get out of the way, then yes, you believe the car would hit you.. may have gotten that from Sam Harris, idk), but I do believe that we can train ourselves to believe things, which can be a powerful use of the mind. I'm practicing to widen my beliefs about love. I don't believe in divinity because it connotes 'God' which connotes a superperson, which connotes a mind with a personality and emotions (features of a biological brain), and then we have effectively projected ourselves onto the cosmos and thereby compromised our ability to think objectively. Unregulated, this can lead to nonsense quickly. "I don't know" are some of the wisest words ever spoken. I don't identify as spiritual because it connotes 'religious' which connotes trading critical thinking for ritual and groupthink and can erode the ability to differentiate good and poor reasoning. I don't believe in free-will but, rather, a deterministic universe that fully includes the brain and neural firings, that consciousness is a hologram that serves the brain's needs, and that the 'self' exists to more or less 'massage' the brain via the consciousness interface by reacting to the pain-pleasure spectrum. But somewhere in all of this I know that everything and everyone are connected through an elaborate and dynamic structure, that order and chaos are in a cosmic dance at every scale, that systems sometimes correct themselves (we get to enjoy the volcanic and tsunamic expression of it!) and that moments of awakening _happen to us_ when the conditions are right. I think something big is coming, and collectively.. hopefully not a theocracy, lol. My flavors of intuition and abstraction might be what others call spirituality ;) Words are that effectual! I hope this perspective was one of many that adds some value to the puzzle. -An INFJ with a head full of math.

Calling humans "garbage" is an example of this. But you mentioned 'hope'. Women have already died because they couldn't get help when they had a miscarriage; doctors are afraid they will go to jail for helping them under Traitor Trump's new rules. I will now keep the sickle as a symbol of a loving humankind free from the shackles of all influence.

I appreciate that you are presenting and acknowledging multiple narratives without declaring one or the other, and I think that’s exactly where our consciousness is asking some of us to be! Detached from the world narrative, and from the mind narratives in general, even to detach from our own personal story. To instead be stillness, or peace of the heart, or acceptance and contentment, release from mental narratives, etc. All these enlightened/yogic principles… I think that’s the right call. Time to drop our stories
@jonmustang2 ай бұрын
I’d also add that from a strictly yogic perspective, the emotionality and war like mentality could actually be laughed at. Duality is not reality and the misery we experience is because we are caught in this world of duality and delusion. “We” meaning pure consciousness. So I think the amplification of duality should bring about an awakening of our innermost intelligence that says, “this is crazy, I can’t keep being crazy like this.“ In other words, the ego that is stuck in the perception of this illusion of duality has to get sick of itself to the point where the inner intelligence wakes up and transcends the world dream. That’s the gift of the apocalypse. The word apocalypse translates to unveiling. It’s the unveiling of the God self or pure being that has been asleep in a dream of duality.

In 1939 many residents of Germany were also convinced it was time of great renewal, a time to embrace change, trust their new leadership, and to adopt "new beliefs". The thing is, though, it was known by many intellectuals at the time, based on the overwhelming facts on the ground, that war and Germany's future destruction was inevitable. Beware the pollyannaish spokesmen such as Eisenstein. Rather, proudly stand as one of the intellectuals so urgently needed now. Just maintaining your common sense hold on reality and speaking it plainly makes you one of those intellectuals. We need you now. We all must join arms to stand guard for our great country while this new group of barbarians attack the gate, a gate unlocked by the Supreme Court. This is not a time to blindly sit back and selfishly adopt a naive sense of false positivity. Simply rewriting our current grim reality in your brain as anything but an emergency is only a path to our country's destruction. Speak the truth. Speak it plainly. Your words are wise. These past months have taught me many things including the understanding that the present moment is the only place to live from now. The future and the past are filled with complete uncertainty and neither of those places will allow anyone to escape fear, folly, or a foolish false sense of security. This moment is bigger than any individual, or group of individuals. No one knows what this moment is really about. We must live into the answers to our questions. Only then will we know. Everything moving towards us is now in the realm of the unknown. Anyone that suggest otherwise is delusional. There is nothing harder to be asked to do then to simply sit still by the banks of the river and do nothing- create no narratives. To sit still even as the waters rise, the winds blow, the earth shakes. The only preparation for safety is to empty the mind and be present. That’s what my experience tells me.

Despite having followed Charles' writing for years I was listening to this talk and feeling confusion and doubt. I noticed comments that Charles is spiritually bypassing, sitting on the fence, naive, or has gone over to "the other side". So I went to the website to explore his point of view a little more. (Link is in the description, I can't put it in a comment.) There is a lot of support available here for all of us who are concerned about world events and have been drawn to Charles' message. I fear that history is repeating and I have a narrative and evidence to support that belief! But now I have hope that here is a way forward and also how we can get back on track with living our deepest shared values instead of increasing division and extremism. Rather than rush to fight or defend, we can ask new questions without referring to preconceptions. Rather than being reactive, which is how history repeats itself, this is how we can act with wisdom empowered by our values. The invitation to enter the "unknown" is definitely not an idealistic way to disengage. If you're feeling doubtful, at least go to the website. I found a very courageous, practical, and engaged course of action.

I have so much curiosity. I’m baffled at my own shifts over the last few years, immersing myself in new information, which has required me to let go of old beliefs. From my activism against the Iraq war, supporting Dennis Kucinich in 2003, running for office as a Democrat in 2006 and 2008, community organizing around a Department of Peace, then shifting to a focus on sustainability and restorative practices, intentional communities working to create the more beautiful world I know is possible. :) Then the last five years have actually been so disappointing when I saw the Democratic Party did not represent me. I saw the censorship, propaganda, manipulation and corruption. Then I got excited about the Kennedy campaign, and I’m currently feeling hopeful with the changes he may be able to enact. Then his statements on Gaza devastated me. But, honestly your Zoom call was very eye opening, because I still found resonance with his stance on 90% of his priorities. But this crazy division, the digging in against the “opposition,” and shutting down of minds, closing ourselves off from the information and possibilities, which is what I’m seeing now, and it’s devastating to see my friends in this state. It’s like I’m not allowed to be hopeful in my circle of friends.

“Jubilation” as to the political scene is being exhibited by these types of sentiments: Your body, my choice. I’m open to your experience. If you have another example, let me know. Joy and jubilation in general is another matter entirely. I feel joy daily regardless of external events. I know where we are headed ultimately. It is not negative. I agree, it is liberated. There has never been a question of it for me in my 70 years. I don’t come from a fear based mentality whatsoever. I also know that no one is more important than another, no matter the atrocities committed or the goodness offered. And I do know that we are in the times that changes everything we have known before. And perhaps, apparently, humanity needs some really big challenges that are coming. I don’t think it is true that it’s needed other than if it’s believed to be needed, then it will be created. Regardless I’m here for what that means to people individually. The reality of everyday life for each person is the reality of what they are living regardless of what they perceive. It matters and is not an intellectual exercise or an amazing unfoldment of the soul, as wonderful as these may be. By the way, it’s interesting to me that you mispronounce Kamala Harris’ name. It tells me who you have been listening to. I think if you were a black/Asian female who nearly bled out due to a forced pregnancy, someone raped at 12 years old, you may at least be aware of the ways Harris’ name became weaponized and pronounce her name the way she does. We used to understand that someone or a group who rapes and destroys others is clearly the aggressor and must be accountable and will be accountable. Even being provoked doesn’t give license but often there is no provocation specific to the aggression, other than misplaced aggression. So while there is NO one more valuable than another regardless of choices, behaviors, thoughts and intentions, there is truly accountability. I don’t mean “karma” or punishment, I mean that within the felt sense, the psyche, the soul, there will be the experience in it’s full range of tragedy of the tragedies committed by each one doing so and to the degree that they have done so. As to what has occurred and is occurring now and will escalate at least for a time: more propaganda will be dispersed than ever before. How we deal with it will define this linear timeline. Fear is not the solution. Disgust is not either although both can be part of an inner transition. Inciting and committing more atrocities is not the solution. I predict that if the challenges continue, there will be plenty of the latter. I certainly appreciate your attempts here to broaden our minds because again, ultimately, this is what it’s going to take to realize a whole new paradigm shift in experience. Calling out deception, living with good intent, being widely and wildly open to an entirely new way of being are all needed responses. Many different methods are embraced by me as to our responses. More agression and destruction is not. And although we can use aggression as fodder, it’s not welcomed by me or supported by me whatsoever. You came up in my feed, so likely I won’t see you again but regardless, I’ll leave you with this, there is no middle path.
