Formerly Jailed CIA Whistleblower John Kiriakou: Jeff Sessions Is Extending Obama's War on Leaks

democracynow.org - Attorney General Jeff Sessions has announced that the FBI has formed a new team focused on investigating potential leaks to the press. During a press conference on Friday, Sessions said that leak investigations have tripled since President Donald Trump took office. Civil liberties groups criticized Sessions's remarks. Ben Wizner of the ACLU said, "A crackdown on leaks is a crackdown on the free press and on democracy as a whole." We speak with John Kiriakou, the former CIA analyst who exposed the Bush-era torture program and became the only official jailed in connection with it.

It's actually refreshing to see Trump and A.G. Sessions standing together and creating some strength and consistency that's been missing in this administration. I am still unsure who if anyone are the 'good guys' around here- but from what I've seen of Sessions, despite his southern accent and how easy it is to poke fun at him just for that, and the media programming that we do so and the disrespect that's encouraged over certain characters... it makes you wonder why the narrative does that with certain players... Bc they're more threatening? More challenging? From what I can see Sessions is a stand up guy, and I wish we had ten more like him. I WAS against Trump, but it has become more and more clear how problematic Clinton was too, and I'm not sure anymore if we're not better off without* her, despite the problems with our new Devil we still don't know so well. I don't know who or what to believe anymore- supposedly this years apocalypse is Aliens 👽 so... who knows! But maybe disaster preparedness is a good idea now 😕

I have listened to a handful of John"s speeches and interviews on KZbin and I find him to be very intelligent, very well spoken and quick with his answers. He does not need a prompter or someone telling him what to say. He has lived his experiences, whether it is about the CIA or about being in prison. He is smart about legal matters and current events. I find his positions to be moral, humble, egoless. He is the kind of person we need in positions of power.
