I know it’s long past time to correct but for anyone else reading later on, any time a drain line passes through a footing it should pass through a sleeve that is 2” larger in diameter than the drain line. Nice forms though!

those forms will definitely hold up. really you went way over the top making them you couldve done it with much less wood but either way you ended up with solid forms

Yep, they did hold up just fine! I guess we can dial back a little next time. :)

Just remember this when playing in the mud. Mud is heavy and expensive! If you have a blow out, it will be a disaster for the record books. I have seen blowouts on stem walls. Never had one myself.

I think I'm going to copy this method - would you have changed anything? How did it go with stripping and breaking down the forms?

Nothing I would change if doing neat-line footings. If you're just pouring a slab on the ground (like for a patio) then it might not be worth the extra effort and wood, but in this case it came out well so I would do it again. Make sure to check out episode 5 and 6 for more details if you want to see the completed foundation.

@@BuildItLikeBeckhams thanks! good to know, I'm going to do this method for sure then. Did you try / were you able to re-use any of the wood from the forms?

Yep, we used screws and then taped over the screw heads to prevent concrete from getting in them. After removing them we were able to back out the screws and save the wood for other things. It tends to warp from all the water during the process but can be good scrap. Good luck!

@@BuildItLikeBeckhams that's great thanks! will send you guys a bottle of wine when foundation is done for the inspiration on this one.. not sure how else I could get the stakes to hold without crumbling our footings without doing a ton more digging..now back to digging footings :)
