I believe that's accurate. It's a bug that used to be in the game that got reintroduced when 1.7 released. I'm assuming it'll get patched quickly which will then make this a viable strategy.

@@TobyYellsAtThings This isn't a bug, but it does come down to how the game iterates through the war goals to enforce them. The conquer states go first I suppose, or at least earlier than release nation. So like @J_GamerSP said their capital then moves, you can't release a nation containing their current capital. Same happens if you've ever tried to conquer Home Counties and liberate Ireland in the same war against GB their capital almost always moves to Ulster.

@@blockchiken It's not a bug in the sense that you should be able to release the capitol, but it is a bug that the release nation is supposed to happen before the take state. It was a reported bug back when the game first launched, I left a link to that bug report at the end of the video description, if you want to see it.

@@riesenbonobo7846 Yeah, the holdings Prussia had in the north Rhine were not part of their homeland. Arguably Brandenburg wasnt either, but they conquered that a long time before those areas of west Germany which I believe they inherited through a personal union? The major cities in Nord-Rhein are Dusseldorf, Koln and Aachen, culturally very different from Prussia and I dont see any of those being their capital. Same for Rheinland-Pfalz. Trier, Koblenz, Mainz, Worms. These German states are culturally closer to the Netherlands and Alsace-Lorraine than to Prussia.

This is technicly alt history that could have actually happened. It was called the Großdeutsche Lösung or great germany solution. 1848 they discussed if they should form germany with or without austria getting involved. They decided against it becouse of the current economic and military struggle it had at the time and also the rilvary with prussia. So in the end they dicided on the lesser german solution.

It's not like the question was settled after 1848, it's just that Austria wasn't able to be the one uniting Germany because they lost a war against Prussia, which led to the formation of Austria-Hungary.

You should play with the mod "hail columbia" it is absolute peak. It's an American flavor pack that's super good. Also make sure to get repeaters technology to colonize states with effective native resistance much easier!

The alternative would be liberate the rhineland instead of westphalia. I think that that should be more consistent, considering the fact that westphalia often becomes the capital of Prussia upon losing brandenburg, which would stop the release of Westphalia.

I love Giga-Germany formation speedruns, I did one myself a couple yrs ago on the release patch, back when you didn't have the 75% nationalism requirement which is probably the main bottleneck, and I got it in '41. I'm not sure how much of the tactics I used back then are still applicable, but I may give it a shot to see if I can beat your time :)

While that is indeed the cause of the problem it isn't intentional in the game's code. I confirmed this before releasing the video but there was a bug report back in 2022 when the game launched that brought this up and the response confirmed it was indeed unintentional. The bug was fixed but as is common it managed to sneak back in a recent update. You can simply take some province that is not Brandenburg, thus does not move their capital at peace deal, the simple fix from PDX side is to make Liberate execute BEFORE taking states, BUT that might create a shitton of new problems as (As far as I remember) people can add conquer state for states part of a country that is to be released meaning the conquer wargoal would no longer target the war target but the released nation, making the wargoal not work (for obvious reasons)

Some people have found an even faster way to form Super Germany. The method is, as Prussia, to research pan-nationalism as fast as possible. Some people have formed it I. 1842.

I think prussia is the best but i didnt see anyone play in the way i play and here is what i do: 1:first we have a shortage of grain so we can use the corn laws,menwhile i try to pass colonial reasetment and improve relations with the great power and austria 2:i use the trick to dismantle india and get a free port in china 3:once my relations incresed enought i try an alliance with russia to preven the defensive pact with austria and if france is in 8 relations use the free naval invasion in colombia,if you have some colonies in africa you can change them for french,british and dutch guyana and integrate them. 4:from day 1 i star to built a fleet of 10 ships and one military dockyard and and focus all my initial indistralization in silecia and deleating the construcction outside it and rebuild it in the state for the cost and output. 5:if you puppet lubek you can force a diplo for both danish states(before improbe relations with them 6:then you launch the leadership and raise conscription with the aditional wargoal of reparations 7:after the war i flood the austrian market and start both bankrolling and lobby and improve relations with austria and wait 8:form super germany 9:when you get the market liberal junker pass laize faire and free trade not homesteading. 9:before puting the market liberal in your goberment expell your actual leader and he is a moderate so he is going to change ideology once out the country(usually a radical)and then make the maeket liberal your junker lider and pass the laws and reintroduce the new radical agitator and after five years make him your leader and pass universal sufrage and you would get the event taht change everione in radical get the right assembly and garanted libertis and the have fun I get all of that in the 47 and 48 what do you think?

I believe, please correct me if I'm wrong, but the reason why Westphalia doesn't get liberated is because when you take Berlin, if the capital gets put in Westphalia, then the "liberate country" wargoal is invalidated and does not happen. Where was Prussia's capital after the first attempt's war?

That's correct, there capitol does move to Westphalia and causes the game to break. This was a bug in previous versions of the game that was patched before and has only recently snuck it's way back in. I wanted this video to last a while so I made the video as if the bug had been patched, that way I don't have to update it after a bug fix patch.

@@DaniTheHero I've got like 50 hours in vic3, I can't give you specifics lol all I know is I followed what Toby did except I forgot to damage relations with Prussia for about a two weeks and I got good RNG in the war and took Bavaria about 4 months earlier which helped me take Prussia about 4 months earlier. I got Westphalia but I since Pomerania didn't liberate instead Prussia was still a great power resulting in the same outcome

For the purpose of the video I switched to play as Prussia and manually liberated them. You won't get any achievements if you do this but if that's a problem for you, you can take some extra time to fight Prussia again and liberate it a second time.

@@TobyYellsAtThings In my own experience, I played as Bavaria, and when Prussia launched the Brothers War, I sided with Austria and in the peace deal, Austria took Silesia, while I released Rhineland and took Westphalia for myself. This was enough for Prussia to eventually fall out of GP status a few months later. As far as avoiding the bug, maybe just don't take Brandenburg but instead release Rhineland and Westphalia simultaneously. If its not possible, then maybe just release Rhineland and take Westphalia yourself, or give it to one of the German minor states.

I learned that it's a consistent bug with how the game handles war goals. It doesn't execute them in the right order causing the capitol to shift to Westphalia, causing the liberate country cb to break. I'm not sure how long it will take them to fix this.

It is not quite Super Germany, because you lack the Netherlands, Belgium and Switzerland. I would also argue the Baltic states would be necessary along with Bosnia, Serbia, Montenegro, Poland, Ukraine, Belarus, and the remaining parts of Romania. And along with that I would grab North Italy, which is Tuscany, Piedmont and the Poe Valley. You don't need Southern Italy and if you wish to respect Papacy which is very much critical, then you need to leave the Papal States alone. You can have them under your Sphere along with Southern Italy. May take Corsica but leave Sardinia and Sicily alone if not under the same sphere of influence. I wouldn't take Albania, Bulgaria or Greece, but I would have them under my Sphere and the same is true for Anatolia/Turkey and the Caucasus which I would make independent of Russia. I would certainly nab the entire Jutish peninsula leaving Denmark as just those Island next to Sweden on its Southwest side. It is not necessary to grab France, but maybe break it up and also put each piece under my sphere of influence would be idea. Same is true for the Nordic Countries which are already broken up or would be. I would also break apart Spain too and the United Kingdom, which would become a divided Kingdom. Ireland independent along with Scotland and Wales, but I would have a strong positive relationship with the English as they are fellow Germanic people and they could be of use as a strong ally, just not a unified one with the rest of the British Isles. We don't want rivals, just allies. We would definitely Germanize the Gepids in Hungary make them realize their German blood even if they prefer horse archer blood. Slavs are basically Germans in denial much like those Gepids, so I would Germanize the Serbs, Montenegrins, Bosnians, Croats, Slovenians, Poles, Czechs, Belarusians, Ukrainians and Slovaks. Bulgarians can continue being Slavs, even though they truly are not outside of language. Thracians. Danes, Dutch, and Flemish are close enough to Germans that it wouldn't really matter. Northern Italians were once Lombards, so we'll just remind them of that. Again, we could take France, but I rather not have to deal with that Quagmire of a mess. Best to leave it broken with the rest of Europe. Easier to control. I would turn West Asia, South Asia and North Africa into protectorates. I would colonize the rest.
