Scott Dixon’s 234 mph was his average speed, but his top speed was 241 mph. Indycar uses the average speed to determine the field, not the top speed.
@rickbateman24016 ай бұрын
234mph lap times on ovals are not rare. An F1 car even reaching speeds of 235mph for a short time has only happened a couple of times.
@Angelbonilla1982 Жыл бұрын
Right now Palou hit curve at 243mph!! With only 720hp, F1 more than 1000hp, imagine Indy with 1000hp would be insane!

INDYCAR actually allows every driver to race, tends to be entertaining, rarely boring. F1 is is barely discovering the concept of wheel to wheel racing, only 1-3(at best) are allowed to compete

I like Indy more, but those F1 cars are bonkers. I think they are 2 different disciplines that happen to have the same basic car layout, not unlike SuperCars and Nascar.

It’s simple, on an oval, the Indy car wins every time. On a road course the F1 car wins every time.
@benebacher24703 ай бұрын
Exactly right
@jenscee7679Ай бұрын
Because each car is designed for its own series. F1 has so much downforce that is draggy on an oval. It’s about fast and medium corners with incredible braking and acceleration. Indycar on large ovals is trimmed to virtually no drag. F1 has no need to be trimmed that far as it doesn’t race on ovals…
@rickbateman2401Ай бұрын
@ an Indy Car rigged for street racing doesn’t have quite as much downforce but it’s also not that far off either. You are partly right, the cars are designed for their own series and while an F1 car is without compromise, built for street/racing, an Indy Car chassis has to be able to accommodate suspension and different aero packages for street racing, speedway ovals and super speedway tracks and while F1 engines are designed to produce maximum power, multiple times per lap for short bursts, an Indy engine must be able to be reliably set up to run as an F1 engine would and it also needs to be able to sustain almost maximum RPM loads for extended periods of time. The single biggest difference is the loads the cars are under - the F1 chassis and it’s suspension are designed to take large horizontal Gs in short bursts, while an Indy chassis has to take those loads on a road course and then it has to take the sustained vertical loads of running on an oval.

Dampers are allowed to be developed in Indycar. The one thing about F1 really is about is the braking force that it has. The brakes in F1 are way superior to Indycar’s brakes. Fueling is gravity fed and not force fed when F1 had refueling.
@RRaquello Жыл бұрын
The brakes are the one thing that get most commented about when a driver from another series gets to try an F1 car. I remember when they gave Jeff Gordon a few laps in a Williams car back in the 90s his first comment was "I wish I had these breaks on my (NASCAR) cup car".

Another difference is that while F1 races all over the world, all its drivers, outside a handful of token pay drivers with back-of-the-grid teams, are European while IndyCar features drivers from all over the world, but only races in North America. The one thing in F1 I've always thought was better done was the points system. It gave more emphasis to the winner and was also simpler to figure out without all the complications of IndyCar or the different ridiculous NASCAR points formulas.

F1 is elite, the constant improvements ensures that the team you support has potential to get an upgrade and improve throughout the season. If u start the season at the back of the grid u don’t needa stay there and that’s what I like. Plus the implementation of a cost cap has leveled the playing field a good bit

First off using gay as an insult is the most unoriginal tasteless thing, and ironically there’s nothing more gay than being hyper fixated on calling things gay. Second most of the drivers in Indycar are European anyway, so if you were approaching this from a ‘Amurica good Europe ‘gay’’ stance then you’re still wrong. And thirdly have you seen how many female f1 fans there are? Trust me as a woman, f1 is far from gay.

@thomasross4536 Жыл бұрын
Dude nascar isn’t considered a single seater. Yeah there’s only one seat but it’s a stock car, only thing stopping them from adding more seats is that there isn’t anyone else in the car. INDYCAR is a single seater in that it’s a car designed for one person, nascar is a stock car series, it’s a stock car, which has multiple seats, modified to be a racecar
