Really nice car. People are so HP-crazed. 145hp for 500kg car is alot. I have a Bora with 150hp vr5 and it provides a very spirited ride when one goes for it. That engine in a 500kg race car would certainly be amazing.

Hi Steve, I have read that without dry sumping, at really high revs the oil in the pan can turn into a mist almost and can't be pumped. We always learn from your videos. Please bring on Vol 2. Thank you very much and kind regards.

Nice car, looks like you have another great project ahead. Your reasons for dry sump were mostly valid although you may have left out the most important: It lets the engine be mounted lower, lowering the center of gravity. Also, a wet sump, properly baffled, will eliminate scavenging issues. Gook luck with the new car, cheers.

nice car, I wonder, is it allowed to replace the carbs into full electronic injection on this type of cars ?

Not to sound like a broken record, but static weight balancing, specially on a car with the aero appendages of this car can be deceptive. Once the car gets moving and air flows over the nose and wing the balance change at different speeds. Maybe the current set-up was the best factory recommendation, or perhaps the best the past owner found through trial and error.

Its a 2.0 pinto? Is that carb mandated? I have one in my group 2 escort on double Weber dcoe’s. Made 190hp. For a race engine you could get 220.

yes it is the Pinto , and the DGAV carb is mandated in Historical FF racing. The same goes for the camshaft... minimum changes. It all depends of course in which class the car races . There are regulations by FIA and clubs based on the Appendix K.

@@D3Sshooter could you get away with the super rare 36 DGAS or has to be DGAV? The cam does seem very mild for race engine so maybe not worth it. The 205 injection head is allowed though? It isn’t app. k on the escort. In any case - it’s a great engine.

yep it was 25K initially but it was not sold, so he lowered the price to 22950 " I think he called it priced to sell".

Hi Steve ..Ive got a question about my MGB 1966 ..3 Syncro gearbox ..was working great ..all of a sudden few things happening .while in bumber to bumber traffic on a hot day .1st..had trouble getting into 1st gear ..then noticed its starting to jump out of 2nd gear ..I got home and checked the clutch fluid etc..any thoughts plse ..Martin

Wel that could be because of a few things, first wear and tear on the syncro meshes and gears, but also it could be the oil (getting real hot`). I would first change the oil (gearbox) and look at the color .... Test it again and see... if that does not fix it... you might need to take it out and do a full inspection on the selectors and gears

@@D3SshooterHi Steve ..thankyou for your quick response..Ive jus looked under the car ..and it is a 4 syncro box with overdrive ..(This must have been upgraded /replaced at some point over the years ..)

Hi Steve which oil do you recommend for my MG gearbox ..4 syncro with the LH type overdrive ..also how much oil should the gearbox and overdrive contain? Thankyou for all yr help
