Bumbry, Verrett, Veasey competing with their Norma

The competitive duet "Ah si fa cor, abbraciami". Some like Stignani, Ercse ( and many others) prefer to avoid the high C, some to compete with the main role like Verrett, Bumbry, Veasey, Miltcheva, sometimes topping their Norma.

Simionato was the best Adalgisa cause she was a true mezzo but that high C was as boomb as a spinto's soprano one. The seccond Clip Adalgisa is a mess! But miss Bumbry was such good Adalgisa that Caballets Norma faded.

Verrett sounds like she is singing in German or who knows what language. The voice is gorgeous of course. Bumbry sounds spectacular like usual for her

lungdoc Are you German?Adalgisa is written at a height where most of the singers can't articulate except if they are lyric sopranos like Remiggio, Cuberli. It's strange that you didn't mention Caballé's out of tune high C and autoritary Bumbry not singing the written small notes, or the matrone like interpretation of Stignani. Verrett might sing it in Russian she sings it better than the other ones.

Sylvia Sass is singing this too lyrical but on the other hand she was never a dramatic soprano and her voice got damaged very soon because she sang to heavy roles.

@@draganvidic2039 :( Sass is the reason why I love this genre, so I can forgive her. Her mid-register is very good for a lyric that's why she could change the fach and mostly because her dramatic soul. I was at plenty of her recent concerts, she still have a bright mezzo which is good to listen to.
