I love how realistic and relatable this is. Chaotic group fishing at night, only catch trash fish, and then fry them up the next day. Non of the day dreaming, perfect catch, influencer crap.

Plecos are damn near indestructable . I had one in a tank that turned out to be a "jumper ". He was out of waer long enough to be completely glued to the carpet . ( Many hours) while taking him to the garbage , it wiggled free from my hand . Picked olit up put it back in the tank . Lost his slime coat completely adter " reanimation " . Damn thing lived forever ... I had to give him away to get rid of him

I hope he starts to focus on youtube for a few years to get the ball rolling and then he’d have pretty much as much money as he’d ever want to work on preservation. I know he’s not hurting for cash but he could really get some insane viewership with the work he does, and like all the shows he’s done that we’re on TV would’ve reaxhed so many more people on here. I’ve had to search HARD online to find his shows and a bunch, in the end i wasnt even able to find what i wanted.

We call "Vieja de agua" ("Water Hag") to armoured catfish down here in Argentina. No fisherman will aim for that species but they'll probably eat it if hungry enough and nothing else was caught. They do say some restaurants sell it as a delicacy.

Armoured catfish/pleco and tilapia are 2 of most invasive fish in my country. There were some youtubers making videos where they cooked n eat this plecos(deep fried) and they said it tastes better than tilapia. Also plecos's egg now are sought after for fishing bait. Hopefully this can reduce the number of these invasive fish

Pleco in coconut milk. The way it is prepared here in the Philippines particulary in Marikina is they roast the plecos first to soften the shell and get most of the meat. Once done, it will be sautéed with onions, garlic, ginger and finger chillies. Then coconut milk is added then chilli leaves or moringa leaves.

I've seen a couple vids on cleaning and prep of large gar for the dinner table. If you can get through the thick scales/armor and do the filleting properly, it's good eating. ... I'm curious about mudfish (bowfin). Surely there are folks who know how to prep that for dinner. Lots of bones? Anyway, great video. Those plecos look prehistoric.

It absolutely blows me away that there are so many Plecos in Fla. The video of that spring, with hundreds of Plecos, is disturbing. This is coming from someone in the aquarium hobby. Why anyone would release fish into the wild is beyond me. Most not Petco/Petsmarts, will take unwanted fish. I understand why the major stores won't take fish, but in my experience, the fish i've tried to give them were in better condition than what they were selling tho. Maybe just my area tho. Fortunately, i have 4 or 5, mom n' pop stores in my area as well. They all take unwanted fish, including redtails and such.

Soak the plecos meat in milk overnight, and it will help take away a lot of nasty flavors. Toss it in some seasoned flour, (I love using Musket Powder Red) dip it in egg wash, and put it in panoo bread crumbs. Pan fry until done, chop into small pieces. Serve on a salad of mixed spring greens (make sure it has arugula) with dried cranberries, mandarin orande slices, walnuts, bacon bits, and a balsamic vinaigrette, or dressing of your choice. If you want a sandwich instead, serve on a kaiser roll with the spring greens, slices of bacon, and a a layer of horseradish sauce spread on the roll.
