I wish the best for you and your fiance on your move to the states one day. Our previous president's blanket ban on Iranians sure upended many people's lives. I hope everyone is aware of the injustices she has and will continue to face just because she is from inconvenient country or from a certain religion. But let's be real, homeboy placed a ban on Muslims but had to revise the legislation several times so it wouldn't be struck down by the courts. So here we are, Iranians are banned for this reason.

The US has the same thing. If you have a H1B work visa and it expires, you have 10 days to leave the US. However, there is a chance to get an extension for a total of 60 days till you have to leave. Every country has these laws were you have to leave after a work visa is over, it might be more or less days.

I lived in Thailand for 2 year from 2004-2006. I am from the SF Bay Area too where I currently reside. I was an English and Math teacher and lived in Songkhla, Suratthani, and Chiang Rai. I really enjoyed being immersed in the culture - it really is a charming and pleasant culture. Thais are very kind people. The reason I left was because it was limited what I can do there at the time. These days there are many more options including being a Digital Nomad which intrigues me. One of the challenges I experienced there was staying productive. It's very easy to get off track and socialize like the nightlife, etc. If I had to live there again I'd live somewhere up North where I would be more immersed in the local culture and away from foreign areas ( but not too far so I can get a dose of it when needed). Now I'm reconsidering moving back, but will probably go to Vietnam instead.

I the PHs I regularly bought rotisserie chicken, Big Macs, fruits and salads to get a healthy diet with a much higher content of lean proteins. I also found boiled eggs in 7Eleven there and I buy raw and fresh eggs at home and just micro them 30 sec to get them freshly made when I add them to my meals to up the lean protein content. ..., like doing similar stuff there, perhaps from the supermarket's Hot foods section/Grab-and-go section, Ready-to-eat section, Gourmet foods section?

Living in Thailand its no cheaper than living in most western countries if you want a comparative lifestyle. It's hard to live healthy in Thailand. I think Dubai is an ok place for a couple years if you're able to leverage something you're working in an save money as its tax free. Its also generally a very safe place and very easy to get around and get things done generally. I lived there for 18 months 6 yrars ago and the air quality is absolutely horrible. The UAE regularly appears in top 10 lists for poorest air quality globally so mentioning air quality of Bangkok as a reason to move to Dubai doesn't make a lot of sense to me to be honest. Other than that here's really no comparison with Thailand. I mean its got absolutely no soul, no real culture to speak of, horrible weather half the year ( or all of the year if you appreciate rain / natural lushness) It feals artificial because it is. I mean just look at Dubai and what's around it - or not around it more accurately - as you fly in. That's if you can see it through the dusty smog. Don't know why Elon Musk wants to set up shop on Mars he could just move to Dubai

I know They have a Thai language visa & Muay Thai visa where you can stay a year to learn the language or Muay Thai. What does he mean it’s hard to stay there? Lmfao, everything he complained about doesn’t make sense. It tells me he doesn’t make a US income because even though beef and healthy foods are more expensive they do exist there and you can buy them. He just can’t really afford it. It sounds more like he is ready to go else where more than he actually has something to complain about as far as Thailand. The amount of Keto restaurants or keto food delivery services or food services for any diet you want in Bangkok is absurd. None of these complaints to me are valid.

Finally someone is talking about how unhealthy Thai food is!! I am on Keto and I find it is extremely hard to find quality meat and keto friendly food in the supermarket. Dark Choc is 4-5 times more expensive than Australia. Look at the isles in Lotus and Tops-clean veggies are limited but there are multiple isles of packaged junk food full of sugar and seed oil. We are leaving Thailand soon and that is one of the reasons. Another thing is lack of footpath. You generally walk much less and it is against my life style!!

American with a Thai wife here. Such a sweetheart ❤. Her mom died this year. She was 94. Thais are tough people and they live as long as Americans. I think that it’s the Nam Pla (fish sauce) that gets them eventually. Too much salt- diabetes and heart problems. Just like Americans. I think Thailand is a great place to visit, but I wouldn’t want to live there. I’ve been there for the Thai new year in the hot season. So hot, especially if your body is not used to it. I’ve been there when the family home was flooded, too. My wife loves the cool weather in Idaho. The air pollution is very bad in Bangkok and other places. The government is horrible. Charging foreigners double or more for entry fees? That’s Thailand in a nutshell. 😂
