This is a great showcase of the game! The game has its downsides but the gameplay is hella fun, flashy, and cool. The reviewers literally didn’t take the time to learn the game and probably played on easy with all the assists available. I don’t think any other game compares to the freedom and amount of tools in the battle system this game offers.

@@Cal3000 Most of the reviewers said 12 hrs playthroughs, which means either they didn't finish it (remember they didn't get early copies so the were all rushing to get a review out) or they didn't actually invest in unlocking and leveling. Hell, the first section alone takes 10 hrs to unlock and upgrading the first set of powers.

Game wants to be DMC3 with it's combat system but falls flat in so many ways. You got 12 escape options, you move 6x faster than any enemy and have range supiriority 99.9% of the time, you got 4 different 3 chain giga special moves and several fire and forget spells.

The bad thing is this is probably the last game by Luminous Peoductions as sales for this game will be low because of reviews and we will never see what a sequel or another game from them can be. They’re a new Jap studio and I feel like they were misguided a bit by the American writers. It’s clear their focus was the battle system, and they thought hiring famous American writers was the way forward. Something really got lost in translation

Twitter? Why would you base your opinion of a game from some clip on twitter? There are plenty of promotional material and in depth previews available on youtube for at least 7 months now. Granted, they could've been more aggressive with the marketing. But all the info was there, and wasn't hard to find. Sure, you had to navigate through the "dIaLoGuE Is CrEngy and It'S WoKe tRash" content creators first, but it was there. THEN you would've been able to form your own opinion. A lot of what is shown in this video has been shown months ago.

@@Dredgen-Yor The clips I'm seeing on twitter is from Square, not just some random content creators. I didn't even know about this game until I saw their clips on twitter. I wasn't going out to look for this game, it just popped up on my feed, and I'm pretty sure that's the case for alot of people discovering this game. And what they showed did not paint the game in the good light. Their big gameplay trailer was full of terrible dialogue and didn't do a good job of show casing the combat. My opinion is my own, and I formed it based on what Square showed off.

@@cultofdis Demo failed it too, gave too much all at once and quite a few folks couldn't wrap their head around it. I played the demo myself and took time learning how to weave attacks with each other, which is what made me buy the game. Marketing focused heavily on the wrong things and highlighted "cringe" moments that ended up being taken out of context. Should've instead focused on the combat. Coulda easily grabbed a few of the youtubers that were showcasing how cool the combat actually is and made official ads from their content but nope.

The game isn’t the best but it’s nowhere near as bad as these “reviewers” are making it out to be. It has its flaws but every game has them, the combat is very fun and intuitive and also please don’t pay attention to the reviewers complaining about the game length. If you bum rush through the main story and don’t explore or do any side missions of course it will be short. I’ve heard with exploration and side quests this game can take you around 35-40 hours to beat which is not bad at all.

@@ceetruth4709 I've seen a select few folks saying fights are easy. I agree with that sentiment, which is why I play on hard difficulty. However, I've seen more complaining that the combat system is shallow or generally lacking and that statement I find to be 100% false. The combat is very deep and abilities are all quite unique. Putting together combos using abilities from different elements is fun and quite satisfying. This isn't the type of game where you're going to get Dark Souls/Elden Ring level difficulty where memorizing attack patterns is paramount and that's okay. The game isn't Elden Ring and doesn't try to be. It's much too fast paced for that anyway. Note: not saying you're expecting it to be like Dark Souls/Elden Ring. Just used that as an example because of the people I've seen complain about the combat system being too simple usually lean on Souls-like games as the standard

but all the compaints i've seen were from people that found the game too easy, not that it isnt fun. They say that even if you're braindead you can 100% the game in hard mode. Like a guy that his first playthrough was on hard mode and he didnt die once, only the enemies were spongy and had a million health, so he basically had to hit them for 20 minutes and dodge, it seemed super boring.

I have a feeling reviewers picked story driven option which made the combat a lot easier. The other options are balanced and gameplay driven. Fantastic, I just love this game and I have been playing ever since Sunday, January 22nd because I pre-ordered it. This is exactly how to play this game and it is is very fun and a blast to play. In spite of other things reviews have highlighted, I feel like if they actually nailed the visual consistency and clarity in this game, made it an actual technical showcase like initially promised, it would have reviewed quite a lot better. I've seen all the bad reviews but was still really interested in this game. Decided to buy it and make my own decision. Although some of the more general things could use a little work, especially when you're in safe areas, when you're in open world it's really good. The fight mechanics are really good and a bit different to others. Purposefully tried to stay away from build guides until Id got a bit further in but it's pretty obvious most reviewers have not didn't any time actually learning the game. I'm having immense fun binding groups and then destroying them with flaming death (weird how no matter what game you play.... nothing seems to like being set on fire....lol). Really don't think this game deserved all negative comments.

This is how it looks when I play it too! I put 18 hours in and finished the main story, my wife is also obsessed with the game and many hours in, and we're sitting here wondering "Why is everyone bitching about it online? Why do all the vids show people trying to play it slow like a Souls game?"

I think that group think is a severe problem for the gaming/game reviewer community. I even see comments being made after the reviewers words. I only saw reviews that showed how bad the game is & to avoid the game. Now I see this and it looks DOPE! This one of the most underrated games in years. It is actually amazing... and here is your proof. But then you have the amazing traversal and gorgeous world with incredible atmosphere as well. Furthermore, the hate for Frey is also ridiculous. She is plenty likable and relatable, especially if you have ever been through a hard time in your life and have dreamed of being able to get away and fulfill your talents, be appreciated, etc.

Reviews are just some asshole's opinion. They're not authorities and it's crazy how much weight the unwashed masses give them. People also need to stop paying attention to things they will never buy or consume. So tired of internet dogpiles and repeating often false information over and over without asking if the original "critique" actually holds water. The game looks fun. Games are about having fun.

I was looking foward to this game from the first trailer. The demo was a let down for me. But I still purchased it because it offered something interesting for me and: I know that many games that seem weird in its way can often really grow on you after spending bit of time with it. So the beginning of the game definitely has its flaws but Ince you get to the first city and the tutorial basically ends so you actually get to play the real game it pretty much clicks and the game is much better then the general opinion makes it seem

By what seems to be your logic, if someone picks games based on their own thoughts regardless of the reviews, then they would be buying every game they are interested in. That is not at all how that works. *What they are saying is that you shouldn't let reviews be the only thing you base yourself on when buying a game.* For example, Final Fantasy XIII turned out to be one of my favorite Final Fantasy games, despite the MANY less than stellar reviews I read and watched. If I hadn't made my own mind after looking into the game and instead trusted the reviews blindly, I would have missed out on one of my favorite RPGs. *Just make sure to take into account how you feel about the game before you buy, not just trust reviewers. Doing your own research is the best way to both find games you will like and avoid games you won't.* EDIT: Frankly, now that I think about it, the things I look forward to in games are so odd that I HAVE to do my own research. *For example, I love complex gameplay that makes you study the game like it's a discipline in school.* Meanwhile, many reviewers tend to go "it's so unintuitive!" and stuff when to me it's perfectly comprehensible and feels just right. I also love quirky characters. It's quite common for me to adore a character that many people find annoying because they don't get the joke nor they know the tropes. When you like the kind of games I like, you can never 100% trust a reviewer. You gotta look into the games yourself. And if a reviewer doesn't even show you what they are talking about with their own gameplay or at least someone else's, I pretty much have to disregard all of it. Because the way someone plays affects how they feel about a game too, which is clearly the case with Forspoken.

@@rafaelcalmon2858 reviewers give a preview of how the game feels and plays to some extent always check out multiple reviewers and if you can try the game out yourself before hand , due to the lack of demos its way harder which is why im a proponant of pirating the game to play it and get a feel for it and if you like it BUY IT. but the way he worded it "if you follow reviewers you cant think for yourself" and that is wrong reviewers are still a valuable resource some are hit and miss but some give genuine information like: how the game runs on certain hardware, amount of bugs and whatnot, gameplay progression, gameplay feel those are valuable legitimate things to review and bring over to the consumer. so i still disagree with him and i understand where youre coming from but nothing stops you from seeing a review being skeptical and still getting the game and loving it yourself, i am a proponant aswell to wait till the game gets cheaper and trying it out then.

To answer your question: No, no they were not lol. Been using kb/m and doing fine, but it seems all the cool clips have been controller. Might switch to that and see how it goes. While the game isn't perfect by a long shot, man is it fun. See this is what they should've been focusing on for marketing. The combat. The crazy combos. They should've grabbed someone like you and made official videos of crazy combo clips. It's really too bad.

I'm at the point where I am not giving that much value to reviews unless the game is broken or bugged down. Reviewers are trying to beat it fast. There isn't any enjoyment in beating it fast for review. I feel like most of the games I played got better after the main story as far as gameplay goes. Just play games, y'all are interested in.

The combat in this game is genuinely some of the most enjoyable I've played in years. I think they also do a good job pacing your acquisition to the magic sets so you can really get used to them before getting new ones (except the last one). Also the complaints about the dialogue and Frey as a protagonist were so ludicrously hyperbolic. The dialogue is about as cringe as anything out of any marvel movie from the past decade and taking everything out of context didn't help. There's plenty to criticize the game for: the final section of the story feels a bit rushed, the world can feel too empty at times, we don't get much time with most of the side characters so it ends up feeling difficult to really care about them or know them. Red magic can feel a bit underpowered compared to the other sets simply because of how dangerous being close to a lot of the enemies are. Lots of gripes like this one like any game, but the hate was unwarranted.

We need more games with nuanced combat systems like this. They should've sent reviews and have the people who review combat games like DMC and Nioh to review this game. Forspoken demo was released as the game director said himself "to display combat mechanics" that's it nothing else! Playing those games you know off the bat story takes a back seat. Which the story isn't bad either it's either average or above average....Passable.

Nope. Folks just can’t read, unwilling to read, and pay attention. I played all the way to Sila castle, and the gave me lots of time to learn how to use Frey’s magic. Through out the way, they sprinkle in tutorials, tool tips, texts, to help you expand. If you failed to do so, that’s on you.

Nope! They weren't! My team had almost the same combat experience that you just displayed. We got hit more, but we only had three hours with it too. This combat system is so good. However, a big ego and short patience can make a critic act in ugly ways to create an unjustified boycott of a title they wanted to hate from the beginning. Bravo for the showcase! Just finished putting 40 hours into the game. Square Enix should be ashamed of themselves for folding this team, and reviewers opinions should have been castrated for how poorly they covered the game. Combat was phenomenal and very technical. I'm so sad this development team is now dead and gone. Ty for this beautiful showcase it truly exhibits just how deep the combat system is.

I was so confused by the reviews cause like when I saw the trailer the game reminded me a lot of Magika and Wizard of Legend, and then suddenly people are trashing the game and I got so disappointed cause the combat promised so much by the trailers and seeing this video reignited the flame inside me and I want to buy the game once again heheh

I think that even the trailera had an inferior combo gameplay than this video make this game failed at its own advertising. Now wonder people are mostly spamming stuffs instead of actual hardcore combo-ing like other high pace hardcore action game.
