What if your teacher/professor wants you to find to the nearest thousandth without a calculator and how do you solve log problems without a calculator in general?Is log a certain number like pi is something like 3.14?
@FortBendTutoring9 жыл бұрын
12012channel No, however the constant e ≈ 2.718. You can use a slide rule to assist you in calculating logarithms to the nearest thousandth and that would not be using a calculator.

Are exponential equations the same as exponential functions? My teacher is doing functions and I want to make sure this is the same.
@FortBendTutoring4 жыл бұрын
They can be but usually exponential functions focus on the properties and graphing versus equations will just want you to solve for x.

I hope you are doing fine Mr. Whittington. I just happened to see this video and it reminded me of when my son was in middle school about 7 years ago. You definitely transformed his life for the better with your easy to understand videos and worksheets. He is now studying to be an engineer with a full scholarship thanks to you. Best of all Mr. Whittington, are the fabulous memories of him and I watching video after video and working out all your math problems. We both learned and it brought us together. Like the song goes, "and the cats and the cradle and the silver moon, little boy blue and the man on the moon..." My son is real busy now, when he is through maybe well get together then, we are gonna have a good time then. Thanks for the wonderful memories and God bless you and your family.

11:22 No you won't, it's ok to get 1/2 in all your problems. And instead of using the natural logarithmic properties, you should use the base of the logarithm of which will cancel the bases on one side, because that is more efficient. 16:20 It is kind of similar to 1/2. Because 1/2 × 1/5 = 1/10

First of all, your videos are outstanding and very educational. But, in problem #12, why did you distribute the ln 2 to (x-2). It would be easier to divide both sides by ln 2, calculate ln 33/ln 2 and add 2. The answer will still be 7.044. Again, you have the best math turorial on You Tube.....

I just wanted to say that I thoroughly enjoyed your video. I was cracking up the entire time but still actually learning what you were throwing down! I am a middle-aged returning student after nearly 20 years since the last time I even looked at an algebra problem. I am currently taking a pre-calculus course at my local college and this section (logarithms and exponential equations) has NOT been sinking in. I often compare my mind to an aging computer hard drive with bad sectors...I feel like things I once knew are lost and the relearning process has been an uphill battle....things that came easy to me in my youth are now MUCH harder to comprehend. Your explanations were outstanding, and when you got to question 14 and started factoring the equation, I quickly paused the video and said to myself "where in the heck did he come up with THOSE numbers?!?!?!" Luckily you had flashed a reference to another one of your videos that thoroughly explained the "ac method" you were using. I have NEVER seen that before and love the ease of how it works. Anyway, I didn't mean to write a book here, but I did want you to realize that you are a very good teacher of this stuff; You definitely managed to get me back on track...at least for this section. I will definitely be looking for more of your videos as the need arises. Thanks again for posting!!! -JC
