Awesome review! I'm the one responsible for the cabinet simulation and I want to clear up two things. 1) the speakers are original 70w Mesa Custom Vintage 30 speakers = best speakers possible! 2) the mic placement picture is not 100% realistic. I highly recommend starting with the 57 around 0.65 close miked. Then find a blend mic for it and with a blend mic you can get all sorts of options. :) Even that 57 position alone is gold for most genres. Cheers buddy!
@PlagueScytheStudios6 жыл бұрын
That makes a lot of sense. My go to speaker combination for metal is a blend of 60 watt V30s and T75s, and this sits right in the middle of the two. Great job with the IRs!
@mlsoundlab6 жыл бұрын
@@PlagueScytheStudios Thank you so much! Generally speaking this old V30 is tonally a bit similar to a vintage pre-Rola Greenback but the V30 is more scooped and great for metal.

I just thought to ask, are the IRs you made for this available for purchase standalone? I would love to use these on the AX8, and the Fractal Modern Cab Pack 7 sounds eerily similar to your description.

Great review. I recently started mixing a friends’ album, and needed to beef up the guitar tracks which were recorded using guitar rig. I preordered the JST TFMM on pre-order (yeah I know. No more pre-ordering), but were only able to get good lead and clean tones. Next I purchased Amplitube’s Soldano SLO model with an ENGL XXL cab. This was more in the direction my friend wanted to go. Finally, with all the videos you mentioned coming out last week reviewing the Fortin, I tried it. This plugin blew our heads off. The price is definitely worth the one amp it models.

Ok, now you got me curious. I have lots of amp purchases and yeah, the prices are low compared to buying some amp I could never afford! I like your videos dude, your to the point when it comes to the crunch and just hate hearing others reviews with a long dreadful clean tone samples before going into the real dirty channel sounds but not that I'm against it, I just want to hear the freaking crunch first. Thanks for your time making these vid's.

Hey man. Love your channel. I’m getting tons of white noise with my high gain amp sims. It’s like the noise floor of my interface amplified or something. Do you have any idea how to get rid of that? Maybe a bad interface? Love your insight on tonecrafting man
@PlagueScytheStudios6 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I would have to hear your DIs to know for sure, but my first guess is too much pre amp gain. My interface has pretty good pre amps, but the sound is noticeably clearer over the purely digital SPDIF input.
@briandress24486 жыл бұрын
Plague Scythe Studios oh I don’t know what spdif is. I have just a budget box a behringer umc204hd. soundcloud.com/brian-dress/noise-no-input Here I’m going with the high z input with the pad on and the gain dialed up to where it’s not quite clipping on a harder than typical chug on my bridge humbucker

Very late to this one, but great demo. Honestly I like the NTS and Cali suites a little more than the Nameless. Less brittle. Ilok is a real bummer though. I use it but I don't have to like it. Hoping Audio Assault puts out the Hellbeast EX update soon. V2 sounds pretty good though still too clanky and plasticky in some areas. Plus not as harmonically complex. Let's hope they bring the goods here; the other EX series updates are damn good updates. Plus like most AA updates it's free if you previously bought the product. Cheers Ryan \M/

You should review the Spark40 practice amp. I'd be surprised to see what you think. It's got all the classic amps, mark series mesa's. rectifiers, 5150s, JCMs, Friedman, etc. It's a seriously powerful 40w amp and I have been playing for 35 years.

Just curious, might be a stupid question. But can you get a similar sound out of your Thrasher? I got my dream tone out of this and wanted to get a Thrasher 50 or a Satan 50, and hoping that I can get the same sound out of one of those, as opposed to saving up nearly £4,000 for the rig this amp sim simulates.
@PlagueScytheStudios6 жыл бұрын
With a Fortin grind or 33, its pretty close. The satan is undoubtedly closer, though. I definitely plan to blind test the thrasher against my other amps, the AX8, and some plugins to see if it is redundant for me now. I would say a Grind pedal, a Satan 50 (maybe swap to EL34s), and a 1960A cab is a good approximation to this.
@metalloid34176 жыл бұрын
Great, thanks. I'm definitely getting a Satan 50 in November, saving up for that right now. Been thinking of getting the grind, might get that and put the Satan off for a few weeks. Looking forward to that blind test, I was going to ask if you'd consider doing something like that but thought it was a dumb suggestion. Ah, the wonders of depression and feeling like everything you say is stupid.

Someone help me out! Goddamn it I really like the sound of this plug in, but I was planning on buying the ReAxis from Mercuriall. I love kazrog. The sims are awesome. I get crazy white noise from all high gain stuff though. I don’t know how to fix it
@pitimor6 жыл бұрын
Because of nonexistent marketing. Fortin Nameless is already on most known music channels in the moment of release, same thing was with BIAS for example. Kazrog doesn't do any such promoting so few people hear about it. Which is a shame cause they are good.
@brianjohnson98025 жыл бұрын
@@briandress2448 Yea the fizz Is annoying. Just track with a lot of gain so it's fun. Then once you've tracked everything, turn the gain down until you get the best gain/gay fizz ratio. You'll still want to cut a tiny amount of highs on your guitar buss, because there's still a bit of something. I think you often have to cut some highs and some lows. Less highs, but always a tiny bit. It makes it more comfortable to listen to. Anyway, Kazrog Is pretty cool shit. The ui is whatever, but that doesn't bother me at all.
