Thanks again Ryan. A hack on your hacks... 1 use clear garbage bags so you can tell what is in there and tie them with wide rubber bands or Velcro ties, makes item easier to pack. 2. On hot days steal a tip from bicyclists, put a frozen water bottle on your lower spine area. We bicyclists use the back center pocket on our riding jersey, on a motorcycle tuck your shirt around it, and you can have a cold drink when you need it. This really cools off your core!, Enjoy!

A cool trick I figured out for commuting on 100+ days, is to take your plaid work shirt, and soak that sucker. If you've got an under-tee then you're set because that moisture will stick around for up to 35 minutes depending on the humidity. I ride full gear every day when commuting regardless of how hot it is, so this trick has saved me from getting heat stroke on my commute home several times. Plus, once you have your gear on, nobody's going to really know that you've just spent 2 minutes soaking your shirt at the sink.

Tape on the visor works well. I like to tape across the top of my internal sunvisor, particularly in the winter when the sun is very low. Only needs a thin strip. Folding the tape back on itself at the end can make a tear-off sunstrip, for example my mother used to live in the hills with an hour or so of twisties with the sun in my eyes before i reached the motorway where i'd want to be tucked in behind the screen, so I used to make an electrical tape tear-off before leaving. You can get printed vinyl stickers off of ebay for a more upmarket look. Strips of translucent vinyl of the kind used for car sunstrips also work well. Asking nicely in the right wrap shop will get you pick of the offcuts for nowt or close to.

Another with the visor is to get the window tint for curved windows and put it at the top so that you can move your head to look through the tint or the clear. It works great.

With the tape over the visor hack. I've done this ever since riding mainly because my CBT instructor said about it lol but I also put a strip along the bottom of my visor for when I'm at traffic lights etc and have my visor up I still get sun shade. Just be careful not to put too much tape on though as it restricts your view and for me personally made me feel claustrophobic so I only have like 1 strip of tape along the bottom and 2 along the top with some over lap.

For those intimidated by "Leather Care"... Don't be. Washing leathers is as simple as Saddle Soap, and it works JUST like regular bar soap for your body... Follow up with a rag and either Neatsfoot, Leather Lotion, or Linseed oil... I have a preference for linseed, as it polymerizes in the leather and creates a sort of composite material... While this does make the leather stiffen up a little over time, it's not so hard as to cause breaking or rips... AND you only really need to lotion/oil the leathers a couple times a year to keep them in good condition, even with regular washing, which you also shouldn't do too often, still making the laundry sheets hack useful... There just isn't an excuse to NEVER EVER clean the stuff... like that's any kind of a good idea... While you don't want to overwork leathers, you don't want to ignore them, either... Dirt and grime deteriorate leather too. AND the natural oils that ordinarily nourish skin don't happen after it's leather, so it needs the help... ;o)

This is the first thing I do before I put my gear on, to get rid of the bugs from the last ride. Wet kitchen roll, let it sit for maybe 10 minutes while I fiddle with the other gear and get the bike ready. No need to get bottles of expensive bug remover, water will do the trick if you let it soak for a bit.

I used this hack for my commute. I live West of my job so I get blinded by the sun on both commutes. So far the Hack is great. The sun is in the right spot to get blocked by the tape. I foresee that as we move dipper into winter the sun is going to be lower, below the tape. I could add more rows of tape, but I will not be able to see anything.

But if you make a switch, you would also have to connect the fuse in series, otherwise you can destroy your ABS controller board through excess voltage!
@imthedarknight-8755
@imthedarknight-8755 4 жыл бұрын
The Major series or parallel switches shouldn’t effect voltage, but if the switch is in parallel it won’t disable the fuse. It will bypass the fuse if it blows, which will mean more amps than planned will get to your abs and that’ll fry it

The Ice really works... I live in Tampa, FL... where the Summer heat is deadly. I ALWAYS ride with full gear, but even high quality mesh is still going to roast you alive when sitting at relights. What I do for the Ice is stick a handful of the ice in to a cloth pouch and or wash cloth... I do this for each of the pockets on the jacket. This way it takes a few minutes for the ice to start melting. PLUS it is much easier to add the ice to the jacket this way, so you are not stuck fumbling about with loose ice cubes dripping water all over the kitchen, which helps keep the wife happy :P OH and at the end of your ride, you are left with a nice damp, cool cloth to wipe your sweaty face off with :)

Only last weekend I was thinking about pulling the ABS fuse on my V-strom L2 whilst green-laning in Wales. But decided to see if others had safely done it first. So timely advice. Thanks. Not so sure about some of the other comments from viewers like spinning the back wheel with the front brake on. How would that work and would it damage the bike?
@FortNine
@FortNine 8 жыл бұрын
Hey! One thing to note - pulling the fuse kills the ABS on *both wheels*. So watch your front. As for the burnout trick, I've never got it to reliably work on my Strom. Pulling a big wheelie normally kills the ABS for me, but I suck at wheelies so I rarely use that trick. ~RyanF9

2:40, and in some places (AUS) this will land you with a ticket, and if you crash Insurance wont pay you a cent, even if the visor had no impact on why you crashed.

"It's dangerous, voids your insurance, it's super fun, blah, blah, blah" X-D One thing I can say about the plastic bag trick... don't try it with boots. I tried using them as a liner before my trip from Seattle to Portland and even after my foot flooded, I couldn't find a hole in the damn bag, so I'm not sure how it got in (assuming it ran down my leg, but they were tall boots and the rain hadn't gone through my riding pants, so I'm still wondering where all the came from) Also, if it's a laptop, you might double-bag because water will pool in the bottom of your saddle bag if you're out there long enough and it seems to find it's way in... X-/ Riding in the PAC NW is kinda like sitting on your bike in the shower... I have yet to find a truly waterproof glove. Just because it's good for snow, do NOT assume it's good for rain (found that out the hard way).

I like the ice cubes in the pocket hack. For serious desert heat, buy a bag of cubes, bungee them to your handlebars and voila; air conditioning. Or you can use a water pistol and just shoot it ahead of you for a nice cool breeze. Also great for shooting at your friends in the pack or wiping those superglue bugs off your glasses, windshield etc. Just don't buy a black water pistol unless you like talking to cops. GSD. T.

Only bummer with using the dryer sheets is much like fabric softener they prevent materials from being able to absorb moisture.

Try a camelback or a bladder in a backpack filled with ice water. I ride a CBR and don't have storage at all. Its storage, an AC unit, and a nice cold beverage.

I've heard for the Greek summer suggesting straight up wearing a wet shirt under the jacket. With the summer jacket I didn't feel the need for something drastic, this year, unless I'm in midday traffic. But you other issues, too, if you drive in 35+ºC.
