Lots of people compare Ballistic to cs and Valorant and consider them essentially the same thing, but it is mechanically different despite also being a 5v5 fps with a defusal/SnD mode. With the insanely high desync and native slide-jump mechanics of Fortnite, Ballistic is just run and gun to me. It was genuinely funny to be told by some BR unreals in my lobby that the mode should be played exactly like cs (a game in which I've logged far more hours than in Fortnite, btw), and I ended up top fragging just by abusing the mechanics, whereas they were struggling at the bottom from doing full accuracy peeks and trying out strats they've seen cs players do. In cs and Val, you counter-strafe and gamble a 1v1 encounter. In Ballistic, trying to get high accuracy by standing still simply gets you killed. It is absolutely nothing like cs or Valorant, so all the anti-hype backed by the argument that it's a cs ripoff is patently unfounded.

Even with a higher player count that RR, they still cram it next to team rumble, and you have to click iinto the "by epic" tab to even see it. The new titan hunt mode is pretty cool, but it's not even voiced unlike other missions. A lot of new features get shafted, basic qol stuff is nonexistent, and there are still plenty of bugs to go around.

The one huge thing for me right now is the servers, and i’m talking specifically about desync. I want them to branch out and push these modes (as i adore reload) but the quality of the game needs to be maintained and right now its not. Apparently epic games cut budgets on their servers and are now using worse servers with worse tick rates (for anyone who doesn’t know: tick rates are how fast the server refreshes to the inputs made by players. Basically count a player placing a build one tick). Now this might not seem like a big issue but it is having an effect. You know whenever on your screen you were completely behind cover but somehow get shot and killed anyway, this is all because of the desync and worse servers. What is happening is since the game is updating slower than before, information is taking longer to get to each player. So while you might have been behind a wall on your screen, the other player was still seeing you in the open because his game hadn’t processed the wall being placed yet. Not desync is always going to be a thing but it was never this bad before. Games like valorant and overwatch don’t have these problems because their tick rates are much higher. There are so many clips going around right now where a guy places a wall and gets shot a full second later. It is making the game unplayable, as you never know when you can get shot, even if you are behind cover. Epic can and needs to fix this asap. Sorry for the rant but i have one more thing to say and that is either nerf the typhoon blade or take it out of ranked. It’s unbelievably broken and if you get caught close to one you’re dead with no chance to escape.

Great video, but i have one critique. Tim Sweeney is not the "modern" counterpart to Donald Mustard. Tim is the CEO of Epic, while Donald was the Create Director for Fortnite. While it is easy to conflate Fortnite as being the same as Epic, Epic still has other games and, most importantly, Unreal Engine. While there is no doubt that Tim likely has some sway in Fortnite as it brings in a lot of revenue, to see him as the sole decision maker after Donald retired is wrong. Tim has always been the CEO of Epic, even back in Ch1, even when Donald was still the Creative Director. The "modern" counterpart to Donald would be Charlie Wen, as he is the new Creative Director since Ch5, who so far has made, in my own opinion, slme great choices of soft resetting the lore to keep things from being the same "gotta save the Zero Point so all of the omniverse doesnt collapse!!!" that I feel that late Ch2 and Ch3 fell into. Hope and Vengeance Jones continual use in the story, and even the references to Valeria in Remix, along with the Zero Point shard in Ch6, seems to be building things up again nicely. Tim Sweeney has no doubt made some very dumb and harmful choices, but people attribute all those to Ch4 onwards (like the layoffs) but he was also in control during the horrible crunch time back in Ch1.

My problem with the modern "story" is that it's so hard to get invested in when the story points only last a single season. with maybe some hints to something for the last season. When Donald Mustard was doing it, Chapter 1, 2, and 3 were all connected but where is the link between chapter 4 and 5? 5 and 6? Chapters are so short now, the story is pretty much really only short stories now. I really liked the whole "Everything is connected" thing Donald Mustard had going on. Overarching points and connections over the 5 or 6 years between the first 3 chapters but now its just "New season, new people. there's a conflict here. but oh look, it's resolved at the end of the season. now here's a new guy. but keep in mind this mysterious person, he'll only be important in the finale. Then everything will reset next chapter. but hey look, that one same character is sticking around at least" like, huh? Will Megalo-Don ever come back and try again? or did doom just mess up his plan, so he just gave up? will anyone other than Hope be relevant ever again outside of their season? It's just not as interesting with Characters popping up out of nowhere, and vanishing the next season, never seen again. We have had 2 full chapters with the new creative Director, starting a new one now, but no "important character" other than Hope remain relevant at all (since even Jonesy is just a background side character now). Maybe not enough time has passed and things will change, but considering they are all more focused on everything else, I have a feeling that any current stories will remain locked to a single season, with maybe one point lasting through the chapter, and never again.

Skins like Ruin and the S5 Secret Skin having no importance at all. Even back in Ch1, many conflicts were ended the same season they were introduced or focused on: Kevin (for the longest time), Devourer, etc. If you complain about this happening in the present, you must first look back to the past where the problem first began

@tntdragon109 Characters like the Ice king did in fact show up again later. Ice King was in the Comic, for an example. The Prisoner succeeded in what he set out to do, destroy Polar Peak. and the next season took place in the future, so again it also made sense that he didn't show up anymore. Singularity built the mech, and nothing called for her to build anything else so again, no need to being her back. That was her purpose. The Devourer was killed completely, so it's sort of hard to bring it back. But Kevin was obviously part of the Last Reality, which was present all the way through Chapter 3, so he definitely wasn't focused on only once. I was a little upset that the secret skins didn't hold much relevance, but none of them other than the Visitor and Scientist were set up to really be important characters. Obviously now that every "secret skin" from now on is gonna be a collab, they will never be relevant, and it's already been that way most of the time. so I didn't mention them. Maybe I made it seem like all the old characters constantly showed up, but while there were shorter stories in the first two chapters, it was all building up an overarching story. my point was that the entire time dots were connecting in the background, building. The first three chapters were all connected. Recognizable characters and names that you've seen before weren't uncommon. Known groups that continued being built upon, having their lore more fleshed out the more seasons that pass. Being The Seven, Last Reality, and IO. What's the connection between Chapter 4, 5, and 6? No known threats that stick around. No groups that are important to the story, that last longer than a single season. Only one character having any sort of relevance past the initial season they're added.

If you ask me, I think Fortnite in its current state is pretty great. I started in chapter 5, season 2 and while I have fond memories of me and my friends playing together, I cant really say chapter 5 was great for a first time player. It was plagued with unfun gameplay features, weapons and items that you needed to get just to stand a chance at winning (I hated waterbending and the war machine thruster pack the most. But chapter 6 season 1? Man the chapter has only begun a month ago and already I am having a lot of fun, more than I did during the 3 seasons of chapter 5 that I played (or 4 since I guess C2 remix is technically in chapter 5, tho I will say thats the best season of the chapter imo). The island is really good looking, the gameplay is pretty fun, they brought back hitscan which is fantastic, they made some pretty good changes to things like melee weapons now being balanced by the fact they have durability, they added a setting thats meant for players who want to try building but are too slow to edit (I.E. me). But aside from BR being in a good state at the moment, we got other small things that were improved too. Battlestars are gone, now obtaining battlepass items is as simple as leveling up, and that also goes for the other passes as now all they require is either experience or level ups to obtain their premium content, and Fortnite crew now grants you access to not just a skin and a battlepass, but also all the available passes which is just amazing. Thats not all, the shops so far have been nothing short of fantastic. Skins that haven't been in it forever came back, DC has returned and we even got 2 new skins from it, and the future of fortnite collabs is amazing. I am literally excited for next Tuesday as i am VERY MUCH looking forward to Hatsune Miku being added to the game. Tbf there were some issues like, XP gains being very low at the start of the season, and the OG mode right now is pretty dull when you think about it, but honestly? I think that the good so far has outweighed the bad.

I’d say Tim Sweeney is doing better with Fortnite’s story than mustard did. Yes mustard had the clear goal and all and it was reached. With that we need to move on. Also the new story is better as of now in my opinion simply because it has way more integrity than mustards ever had. Issues people have now are just where is ___? Those were started by mustard as he dropped lots of characters very fast with no explanation. The new story is doing well as the only one to be dropped randomly was megalo don and some environmental storytelling says how they all just ran away from doom. Likely wherever Midas went. Midas also was handled well and gave a conclusion where he can easily return but he and his enterage were not just disappearing out of nowhere. Only other odd thing is chaos agent but that’s an issue mustard also made. To me it seems old characters will slowly return and be given some closure or at least some semi closure.

Out of all the videos I've seen. This one is the best I've seen. Chapter 5 was absolutely awful and almost killed the game. Lego at first wasn't amazing but as of the time writing this, it's in a really good spot. RR is dead and good honestly. Festival is a really nice mode, and I'm happy they are still adding more songs and hope they continue. Ballistic should not have released, it's so broken that it should have been delayed. Brick life (ngl mid af) but hey, maybe it will have it's following. And og and reload are perfect. The games definitely improved since chapter 5 and its nice seeing it. But I will always believe that ever since Donald left, this game has gotten alot worse. I'm worried it will get worse. But hold hope it will be better in the future
