I’ve lived in Ga since I was born in 1959. Grew up in middle Georgia as a farm boy. My dad was a huge Braves fan. We had no cable in the country. My dad spent fortunes on TV antennas trying to get Superstation 17 (TBS) so he could watch the Braves. We got the games but always a snowy picture. Still watched it. I’m talking through the rough years too. Occasionally would drive two hours and watch them live. Empty seats everywhere. But we loved our Braves then and still do. Unfortunately, my dad passed away in June 1991. Just when the Braves took off on their run. I remember describing how they were playing while he was laying in the hospital bed. I’m grateful for the memories that my dad created with the Braves. I will always remember those days. Braves fan for life here as they hold a special place in my soul.

RIP to your father. I grew up a yankee fan in the 90’s but couldn’t help but like those Braves teams as a kid. Even playing against them in the World Series twice that decade. I bought a Braves cap when I was 10 from my towns sports store and came home with it on. My Dad was so mad lmao.

It may not lead to another 10+ year streak of division titles, but I have a feeling a few more young stars coming up and some trades will lead to a dynasty in the coming decade. This team is already great with some glaring issues. It will only be better with Ian Anderson, Drew Waters and Cristian Pache in Atlanta.

@@brandonyoung2894 exactly....my father and I were at my daughter's soccer game here in New York both discussing how awesome it was that the braves and Atlanta shoved it up baseballs rear end...although I'm a New Yorker the Braves winning this year was more important than my Yankees winning. I am not into most sports nowadays due to the liberal pandering of the commissioners...the only commissioner in any sport who stands up to the bs is Dana White in the UFC...I hope the Braves do it again...congrats to you guys..you deserved it

I am so fortunate to have watched the Braves growing up in the 90’s.

1991 - They played in the greatest WS ever and were worthy opponents in a 1-0 10 inning Game 7 battle. 1992 - They went 6 deep with an ultra talented Jays team after making an incredible comeback to beat the Pirates. 1993 - In one of the greatest division races ever, somehow they prevailed over SF. They ran into a red hot, highly motivated Phils team. 1994 - Who knows what might have happened. 1995 - They got it done. 1996 - They ran all the way to the WS and took a 2-0 lead and nearly went up 3-1 before Leyritz marched the Yankees back and into the foundation of a dynasty. 1997 - Winning 103, they had no trouble until they met the $$ rich Marlins. 1998 - This time they won 106 but fell to a team that was similar to the 1993 Phillies, the 1998 Padres 1999 - They dominated the NL in the regular season and playoffs. The 1999 Yanks were almost as good as the 1998 Yanks. While winning more championships might have been nice, the journey each year was a lot of fun to witness because they dominated for long stretches of time!

Everyone in family had gone 😴 but not ME❤💙 I sat on living room floor in front of a Not Flat Screen TV lol🤣 😅 watched to very end and cried & screamed like A BABY GIRL..💝 SO VERY HAPPY but then a little sad as well bcuz My Baby Boy had passed away in 1994 from Cystic Fibrosis at age 14...One of the Biggest Braves fans Ever😇❤💙 #65 Roses Club Too much to tell how many Braves games we had attended, how many ATL BRAVES players he had seen & met at Egleston Children's Hospital, at ballpark...Even at Cheesecake Factory (David Justice was eating there in ATL at the time along with many other sports stars,etc..Chris wouldn't bother or bug anybody no matter how famous or who or what they were to ask for autograph etc but we had both "noticed" several people there🙈🙉🙊 I got up to go to ladies room for min. IN THAT FEW MIN. MR. JUSTICE had walked up to our table & stopped & spoke to my son ( out of the blue) There were cloth napkins lol so i don't quite remember if that's what he signed for him! It was way cool. So many beautiful happy memories that I relived in last few Years, Weeks, Days( Myself Braves fan for 50 years) Congratulations to this ATL BRAVES team and all the many other players,staff, coaches of the # kind, sometimes nervous, happy, hard working people of this CRAZY WORLD We live in now...I have more family-friendly ties & stories to tell but that's enough for Now 😍🤩😇😇😇😇😅🤣😂# Live in the Moment & Never waste a second thinking there's a curse or whatever to stop your Dreams❣Life is hard but so worth it!!! Honestly Greg Maddux is in the top 5 of pitchers I actually saw pitch. He really didn’t throw that hard but man could he spot his pitches. I’d say him, Steve Carlton, Randy Johnson, Pedro Martinez, and Dave Stewart were the five best the I saw. Not necessarily in that order

When Ted Turner brought the Braves to TBS in the late 1970's I was a little girl. My mother started watching them and we quickly became fans. We have never waivered with our loyalty to the Braves. I grew up loving Dale Murphy, crushing on Ryan Klesko, respecting each and every player and their skills loving them through today. My son now loves them just as much (after years of trying not to, but thanks to Ronald Acuna, Jr he has come around). Love my Braves!

As a 35 year old man who grew up in Atlanta watching this, this brings back so many memories of my youth, and I was fortunately able to be there when Sid scored from second and I can saw without a doubt I will never forget that night and feeling it left with me. The one that hurt the most was the 1997 NLCS loss to the Florida Marlins, a team of expensive mercs put together for one season to win a World Series, then promptly sold off. The Atlanta Braves won over 100 games that season, Denny Neagle won 20 games as a starting pitcher, Chipper Jones hit over 100 RBIs, etc. The team was stacked and really fun to watch. Unfortunately, they just could not unlock that Marlins team. I kept hoping that the wild card Marlins would lose in the first round, no dice. It was a collision course, and the Marlins beat the Braves in 6 games. What a nightmare.

I'm so glad I found this video. With all that's going on in the world in May of 2020, it sure was nice to spend 45 minutes reliving the 90's Braves and how much joy they brought to my life. Yeah they broke my heart a lot in the postseason (with the exception of 95), but baseball is special in that they play 162 regular season games just to get to the playoffs. With such a long season and playing almost every day the journey becomes just as impactful as the destination.

I loved watching this team on TBS in the early 90's. I loved the way they rotated announce teams. First 4.5 innings (I think) they'd have Skip Caray/Don Sutton and then switch them to radio and bring in Pete Van Weiren/Joe Simpson....I swear both Ernie Johnson Jr and Sr were in there as well at times. Or Vice versa. Great times. This was awesome stuff. That 1992 team was even more fun to watch than in '91, and the NLCS finish still makes me feel electric.

That run of 14 straight straight is impressive as hell, and I highly doubt a run of dominance like that will ever be duplicated at a top level of sports again. The closest thing I can think of to this the consistency of the Montreal Canadiens from '55-'79, or the New England Patriots of '01-present with 15 division titles in 17 years, including the last 9 in a row. Woe is me who grew up in Buffalo always a fan of the Bills, lived in Atlanta from '85- '95. Game 6 of the '95 world series was the most exciting sports game in my life. Paid $5 for outfield seats and was able to sneak down to 10th row on the 1st base side in the late 80's. That changed overnight.

The Braves reached the World Series plenty of times...so we should focus more on why they only won one World Series out of five rather than focusing on 14 division titles. 1991 and 1996 were the two they definitely had control of and didn't get it done (up 3-2 in 1991 and up 2-0 in 1996).

This brings back pleasant memories of TBS coming into our home in the SF Bay Area starting in the late 80's. Back then it was the only opportunity to get a ballgame on TV starting at 4:30 PM. It was quite a novelty back then. As a baseball junkie .....it was very cool to be able to catch an east coast team on a regular basis. Once they became a real powerhouse they stopped being a novelty and became an event that you scheduled around to watch.

I watched America Team of the 1980s went to many games and you could have a whole section to yourself. By 1992 it was almost impossible to get a Braves ticket. All that matters is that in 1995 we won it all....and yes it was a hell of ride being a Braves fan also. I never missed a game on TV. I was a Braves Fan and still a Braves Fan.

They came into the picture in the second half of the decade. There's really no excuse for the Braves not winning at least two but doing what the Yankees did is probably never going to happen again. The Giants somehow won three in five years but didn't even reach the postseason in the in-between years and have become completely irrelevant now. No team in either league has repeated since the Yankees won three straight (1998-2000) and thanks to the 1996 collapse by the Braves, the Big Red Machine (1975-1976) is the last NL team to win back-to-back World Series.

In 1994 the Yankees were 70-43 best record in the AL and was 9-0 vs Cleveland during the season when the MLB strike hit. 1995 the Yankees should've beaten Seattle and went to the ALCS, but the Yankees blew a 2-0 series lead. Also it doesn't matter that Atlanta won the most games in the 90s because do you know who won the most games in the decade of the 80s? I am a Saints fan living in New Orleans. For some reason growing up in the 80's-90's you could watch only 2 teams the Cubs or the Braves. I became a big Braves fan from 82-95ish. Dale Murphy always will be my favorite baseball player. I still remember the day he got traded. But a great memory of me screaming when David Justice hit the one hr in the series to finally when it all.

I think the reason many along the Gulf Coast, particularly the central Gulf South, only saw two MLB teams regularly back then was because of the two superstations: WTBS and later on TNT, in Atlanta who showed Braves home and away games and WGN, who showed most Cubs home and away games. In an era before ESPN, or satellite TV choices or premium streaming channels or the Internet, those two super stations made generations of fans of both squads before, during, and even after their runs. Especially when it applies to 90's-2005 Braves dynasty. Several Braves fans back in 2016 told me when they found out I was a bit of a Cubs fan that the level of emotion, intensity and excitement when the Cubs won the WS and have continued to be a playoff contender, he said Cubs fans in Chicago, Midwest or nationwide seemed to revel and enjoy this historical moment far more then what Atlanta did back in 1995 with the Braves. Most of them in their own ways sort of insuated they really envied the almost riot-like level of excitement Cubs fans seemed to display when their team finally won it all and wished other Atlanta sports fans in general, not just Braves fans, were capable of showing such diehard, fanatical levels of devotion. The Falcons over the past decade have been one of the best teams in the NFL and have had their best, most consistent run of success from 2008-2017, culminating in the Falcons making the franchise's second SB appearance in team history, and the first in nearly 20 years.

90's Braves should have 3 rings: 1991, 1995 and 1996 . 92/93 Jays and 1999 Yankees were better. Three main reasons the team didn't win more: bullpen (alot of 8th inning blown saves) poor bench and errors. The documentary doesn't even touch on the 100-win powerhouses the 2002 and 2003 Braves were with Javier Lopez, Rafael Furcal and Gary Sheffield. Could not even get out of the first round. Those were the most bitter and frustrating days.

In 1991 the teams were so evenly matched, really could have went either way but a couple mistakes like Lonnie Smith's baserunning was the difference. 96 was the one that got away. 2003 team with Sheffield hitting everything in sight was frustrating to see them lose in the first round. Braves bats usually went ice cold in October.

I grew up in the 70's in Florida and the only live MLB games in the state Floridians could attend were Spring training games. In March of 1975 my dad took me to a Braves vs. Yankees game. The Yankees side of the stadium was packed with Yankees fans and there was NO getting in close proximity to any of the Yankees players, but along the 3rd base/left field line there was plenty of standing room along a fence that was 4 feet high. The visitor's " bullpen " was in between the playing field and this fence. I vividly remember Max Leon warming up with Biff Pocoroba and I was mesmerized by the sound Max Leon's fastball. After finishing their bullpen session he and Biff Pocoroba came over to the fence to sign autographs and chat with the fans. I was 9 years old and both of them were 21 or 22 years old but they were taller than me and wearing real MLB uniforms so they were men to me. I was wearing my yellow little league baseball cap so imagine my surprise when I handed my program to Mr. Leon to sign and he said to me, " Chu play bazeboll ? " I replied, " Yes sir, I play baseball. " He continued talking to me, asking me what position I played. At that time I had played every position on the field except right field and that was my response, Biff Pocoroba then asked me what was my favorite position to play. " Pitcher and third base. " I replied. " Chu must hab a good arm keed. " said Mr. Leon. My dad interjected, " He does, he's got the strongest arm on his team. " It was after that, that I heard this piece of advice, " Dun teach him how to throw da curb ball, E's bad for da arm. " he said to my dad. I became an instant Braves fan and I stuck with them ever since. we finally got cable TV service in our area in 1981 then the strike wiped out 2/3 of the season but I remained a Braves fan even through their dismal 54-106 1988 season and beyond.

I was at the final game against Toronto. I was 12. 3rd baseline about 20-30 rows back. Even though the Braves lost, the energy was unlike anything else. Everyone was on their feet, pounding on the backs of the seats in front of them. I'll bet you could hear it for miles. Of course it was sad and disappointing that they lost, but memories of the 90's Braves are some of my best memories as a kid. We were all lucky to experience that kind of comradery. I do wish that I could get the image of Wayne Gretzky signing autographs from his suite after the game out of my head. He was so happy. God it pissed me off.

The starting rotation to die for with Maddux, Glavine and Smoltz who also had 1st class help from Avery then Denny Neagle, then Kevin Millwood. It seems nowadays starting rotations of this standard are unlikely to be seen again. The trend towards every pitcher having one or two innings, essentially relief pitchers going every night has been shown to be as an effective strategy to avoid paying big money for pitching. Even if that never becomes the norm its unlikely any pitchers in the future will get an opportunity to win 300 games like the best of the 90s era pitchers achieved. I remember that night that the Fulton County Stadium press box caught on fire. The Braves had just gotten Fred McGriff and they were about to play the St. Louis Cardinals ( I'm a Cards fan). It was a big night for Atlanta, having acquired McGriff. After the fire I was hoping that the game would still be played, but it was postponed. Even as a Cardinals fan, I wanted to see Fred McGriff.

I was fortunate enough to go to a Chicago white Sox vs the Detroit Tigers sometime in the early to mid 90's at Comiski park it seemed fairly new at the time but getting to watch Cecil Fielder & Frank Thomas two of my favorite long ball hitters have batting practice them play I remember it like it was just yesterday it was kind of dark and cloudy and the wind would cut you into it must have been 45 degrees but felt like it was 10 with the wind uo . I remember the first 2 post season's for Glavine, he was often criticized for really no good reason. he was pitching good, The problem was that he wasn't getting much help from his offense. goes 0-2 in the 1991 NLCS despite an ERA of 3.21. (his offense only mustered 1 run through 2 games) goes 1-1 in the 1991 World Series with an ERA of 2.70. (both games were pitching duels between him and Kevin Tapani. well, game 5 started that way anyway haha) goes 0-2 in the 1992 NLCS. his ERA in the 1992 NLCS was bad yes, 12.27 but that mostly because of 1 inning, and from there, people were wondering "what's wrong with him?" "should this CY Young winner even be pitching in the world series?" but he had a stellar 1992 World series. an ERA of 1.59. However, he found himself in 2 pitching duels with Jack Morris and Jimmy Key. he beat Morris 3-1, but lost to Key 2-1. that's on the offense. not Glavine. Heck had the Braves won the 92 World Series, he would have been MVP. him or Deion Sanders. And yes, good pitching almost always seems to beat good hitting in the post season. For him to win the final 1995 World Series game 1-0 and to win MVP honors with an amazing 1.29 ERA was just pure sweetness!

I lived 40 minutes south of Atlanta in the '70s and made it a point to go the home Dodgers games (and Reds) at old Fulton Cty. Stadium. Talk about a stacked team!
