I think the people that complain don't really understand the purpose of stem creation technology. It's just a relatively cheap way for producers to create interpolations of samples as opposed to having to hire musicians to do so, which would most likely be much more expensive. Besides, I'm sure as time passes the technology will be improved.

I still sample. Always have, always will. I think stems is going to really make me use my MPC One more. Ever since it was introduced, I started taking out vinyls that I had sampled before in the 90s. Getting ready to resample exactly what I wanted to sample as soon as stems drops. Stems is going to be lovely for me.

Yeah, lot's of fun to play with at home.. But if you are in the industry and wanting to release music. Different story. People don't realize what these new technologies does to the industry, and the art of making music. Sampling was controversial enough back in the day..But this, will be interesting to see how this develops. Nowadays u don't need talent to make beats. In the near future I believe it will come down to exposure and algorithms..

@@mrb2534 You are right about sampling in the music industry. It is one of the reasons why I had stopped making music years ago until recently. I was mainly sample based when it came to making music. What I created sounded ridiculously hot, but most couldn't be used. This is why I started buying synths, to replay what I wanted. But I think with stems, it will make some sampling cool again, as long as you do not go overboard with it. It is going to be fun though.

Cool, I'm a hardware guy too, even though I have replaced some of my synthesizers with vst's. Mostly using hardware now for sampling.. Thing with stems is there is still copyright laws, and content recognition software has become pretty good. We'll see what happens. But if there's money to make, they are gonna build it and use it.. For me it's a dealbreaker. Being a mostly sample based hiphop producer, I feel it is ruining the art.. U release something, the next day some kid is using your sounds..When everything is available to grab that easy, kids are gonna go nuts. We are talking homo sapiens here, we develop stuff all the time that often is not for the best :) Money money money..Akai kind of participated in a big way to wreck the game. But they are not alone.. AI developers is helping out with that too.. @@georgegeez8708

This is a nice feature akai is bringing to the mpc line up, like you said it won't be perfect, but is a new tool that can come in handy for certain situations. There's a catch to all of the currently available stem creation products. That's because the purpose of stem creation technology is to offer sample based producers who aren't trained musicians and can't afford to hire trained musicians a relatively inexpensive way to create interpolations of samples themselves. The quality of the results may not be as good as if one had hired well experienced professional musicians to replay a sample, but you get what you pay for. If you want that level of quality, hire musicians.
@dn30001

@@dugnice as a DJ that has been experienced with stem separation for more remix purposes (rather than beat making), I'm well aware of how the scale of quality can vary depending on the sample itself and the processing it needs to render with the correct hardware. However, my concern was more of a situation where standalone MPC users would be required to be connected to WiFi for cloud stem processing........like current various stem separation sites. Which would be a pain in the ass lol. The 1.8 GHz quad-core ARM Cortex A17 processor and 2 GB of RAM of the original MPC X, Live, etc doesn't make standalone stem processing sound smooth at all.........unless we would be required to wait about 5 minutes per 10 second sample 😂

I agree with you, I was thinking to myself, is sampling in there. Then I said, sampling will never really go away. Old school producers can re-sample those difficult records again. The New school might find value, but they have so much and they don’t know the difference and may not appreciate the all in one box. I’m just mad because I spent a thousand dollars a couple of years ago for this same program that everybody is getting almost free. I’m trying to remember the name of the program, it’s on one of my laptop 💻 that I let my wife have. I was watching the KZbinr Ave Advertising it and I brought it, and lol I thought I had a secret sauce. I guess I won’t sell my MPC X and Mpc. Force yet. I saw AKAI put up that video yesterday LOL. Stem separation is totally 2016. If I want an acapella there’s better ways. It’s funny because Algoriddim had this on their DJ software several years ago and now Traktor has had it for a few years. And Serato got stem separation last year. It’s like that SP-303 vinyl sim effect. It’s kinda an amateur thing that’s cool for YT demos and it’s not bad but it’s not exactly intended for pro work. It’s like if you want that pumping bass from sidechain compression. Are you gonna use the Mother Ducker effect on MPC Live/X/One? Maybe it works fine in your situation. And there’s sidechain on the Circuit Tracks and on the TR-8S. It’s great if you’re using those in niche live situations, but if you’re actually producing a track you’re probably dialing in the sidechain with VSTs. It’s the same as it always has been. People don’t appreciate the level of work that DJs and producers actually put in. You’re spending hours prepping tracks and micromanaging most of your sound whether it’s Ableton or whatever. If you actually work with stems u know u already have a few VSTs dialed in for that.

The #1 song on the Billboard Hot 100 by Jack Harlow is guest what? A sample. Smack those dudes who you were talking to and tell them to start sampling and learn what sampling actually is (more than Diddy taking a pop loop and rapping over it). While STEMs is available on others apps having it on an MPC is a game changer for MPC users. I'll be jacking kicks and snares from everywhere. Vocal samples? I'll be doing in my MPC today what I wanted to do back in 1997 when I purchased my first MPC.

You are my friend hating on people sampling, because that is stealing unless you sampling to create your own sounds but not taking someones music and taking their drums, cant you nmake your own? Its a shame I can even have groove quantize, only what they have is swing, they must not know what groove quwntize it. And then the simple thing like ability to mute individual drums part like muting hats, snare, etc and building a song from sequences through muting each elements for build up, old 20 years groove boxes or any sequencer can muste anythin anytime and play it back just as you did. In the akai this is war, Their are more important things need asap than stem sampling, what about ability to record more than 5 minues of audio, and more than 8 audio tracks, really basic simple things. But they force people to not create original music like recording guitars, bass, synths etc, they want you sampling and mangling other peoples stuff, not even joining sequencinfg together to form a song yes iths there but too complicated. Like they need to go look at an old MC505 and see how sequencing and making patterns into a song can be so simple. No, they want you to just not play anything but tweak and twist samples. and none of these guys are complaining because they are musicians. A product or gear should not be meant for just one genre of music, they think only Hiphop, but yes I am black guy but Hip hop is not the only music people do. Did you know that in the MPC you cant see like a timeline even if not lines of waveforms like in say like when playing your beats in Logic or Cubase how to see the layer of the each track and you can rewind or forward as you want, there is no even fastforward or rewind, you would have to leave the page youare on just to forward or rewind to another part of the song. When you playing your song and stop, there should be a way so it goes back to same stop so you can keep recording or editing. you would have manually rewind each time. Wow that is one of the most horrible thing and you say it a great sequencer? Their no locators or markers to press a button quickly go to any point in your beat or song. you have to use the screen or q link, if you not on the MPC X where the q link have written beneath what each one will do. But the four q links is not the best for navigation like play rewind fast forward, But of course all these they dont know because they just sampling stuffs and joining samples together to make a song. and this is why the MPC will never replace a laptop based music production, yes the MPC can but they have no musicians there in AKAI to make them add the basic music making basic things. what a shame really such an amazing product without putting in mind music creation from the ground up. Did you know an old sequencer of years ago llike those grooveboxes can do more than The MPC if only they could load samples like drums hits of yours, they only have internal sounds. Where Mpc you could use samples like FL STUDIO and make beats with them. But then what about sequencing and arranging what going to do with the samples.? look nuff said. its time a real musician create a product for music making that truly wont need the computer at all, except maybe you want to mix in the computer or master, but still be able to do all in the box. Their are still musicians in this world not everyone is stealing other peoples work in the name of sampling.

Man you sound like you need to get an SP 1200!!!!...Akai MPC is not for you Lol!..But I feel what your saying Akai a long time ago realized the musical sophistication of there audience when they released the MPC 5000 and got all that backlash..They found out the hard way HIPHOP producers are not just simple beat makers.

Too little too late? What other standalone drum sampler has stems? Artifacts? Ummm people spend 4k-7k on sp 1200’s to get the piss poor artifacts from the worst time stretching ever on a sampler. So what! it has artifacts. People will buy this for the same reason. It will have its own characteristic sound. Don’t be like the almighty EA-Radio Raheem Ski and hate everything Akai because they sent McRee Akai gear and stopped sending him Akai gear: He’s gonna talk about selling water to dolphins and then he turns around and sells a special edition sp 1200 with zero upgrades, same everything. All it was was a color scheme with a sd card and sound library with dolphin gummies from rhe almighty radio Raheem. Stop it Mpc stems is groundbreaking, nobody has done this in a standalone (not native instruments, not Roland, not pioneer, teenage engineering etc…

But on a seriosu note, I just saw MALO BEATS on KZbin here and he sampled from a record and even a wav file into the MPC and the stems were clean like as if from the studio where the songs were recorded no artifacts, really surprising. so check out MALO beats a youtuber that makes videos about MPC a lot, I think the akai gave him access to this feature to show people, but there was no artifacts. I will only need for removing vocals for Karaoke or something, but rarely just take Billie Jeans drums and use it? no I too can make my own beats and learn how they got their so good, Infact many hit songs the beat are not processed. So why steal other peoples work and manipulate it as my original, that is unfair and wont be called a legend or win multi grammy when you creation is really another persons recording. Now we have many plugings to sound as authentic asyour beloved recordings. Why steal other peoples beat from their records, this should illegal.why are we musicians ?

Ray Charles "sampled" a gospel song when he wrote "I Got A Woman". He was considered a genius. Artist do covers all the time. There are so many ways to sample. Some create backing loops and add stuff on top. Some chop samples to where the original record is unrecognizable. And it's not "stealing" when you get permission from whoever owns the publishing. PRODUCERS AND BEATMAKERS ARE SOUND MANIPULATORS, WHETHER IT'S A NOTE FROM A SYNTH OR A PAD WITH A SAMPLE! STOP BEING A SNOB AND PROVIDING A POV THAT IS NARROW AND JUDGEMENTAL!

I’ve seen about 5 different vids with creators that actually have access to the stem separation plugin and they are ALL on point. Zero artifact bleeding with like 15 different records. You don’t have access obviously and no real live examples. This video is a joke lol
