Baby your generation has missed all the good music from back in the day. I was born in 1955. I lived through all the good stuff. The Bee Gees wrote all their songs first and then they added the music to it which is opposite of what most song writrers do.Amazing talennt.

best Bee Gees song ever. Their biggest hit and their last No.1 single. Written by Barry & Maurice based on Maurices drum sample loop and Barry waking up one day with the chorus words and nothing else. The record company wanted the heavy drums taken off and the band refused thankfully.
@Zlata13133 ай бұрын
Actually written by all 3 brothers but yes Mo created the so called "stomps" in his Miami garage using garbage can lids , not a drum machine. They were uploaded/sampled onto the drum machine and then copied to a CD. There are no actual drums on that track.

This song actually came to Barry in his sleep. He had to write it down before he went back to sleep. Recorder and a pen made this song possible. It woke him during the night.

One of them gets an ideas, Maurice punches it out on the piano, then they finish the tune. Then they write the lyrics that they want to go with the music. They never deviate from the melody they have written down. Whosever idea it was for the song, is the one that sings lead on it.

They did a lot of stuff after disco died, but they couldn’t sell in the US because of the huge anti-disco weirdness going on, even though they changed their sound. Super sad because they have always been incredible songwriters and performers. I’ve always loved “Tragedy “

Barry in a interview a few months ago said the Bee Gees created the music first that they would just start harmonizing and making sounds and the others would match it. They could not read music. Barry said since they never had music training they did not know they were not suppose to hit certain notes .Barry said when they got to the studio they would decide how many songs they would write that day. There is a video on You tube showing how they made Tragedy. The Musicians that were hired that day that discovered their was no sheet for the music or Lyrics. They called their agent and were told that was how the Bee Gees worked. Sure enough the Bee Gees got the sound they wanted and wrote the Lyrics and the Bee Gees had everything completed that day'

The 80s had great beegees songs but the 90s were just as good if not better. Songs like Alone, For Whom The Bell Tolls, etc. Even their final album This is where I came in has many great songs you really need to hear. They had top top albums in 5 decades.
@stephaniecatalioti Жыл бұрын
I love everything they do but this is my absolute favorite. That beat goin on, Barry singing in his natural voice. The eighties were my favorite for all music. Everything was real, no autotune anything. Real structure, they wrote everything, even the guitar solos. That group was one of the best. Something you didn't know: they were the ONLY group to have 5 (FIVE) in the TOP TEN at the same time!! Everyone said that they OWNED the charts. They did. Even Michael Jackson and the Beatles never did that. It's in the Guiness Book. Those guys had it goin on. They wrote everything and wrote for other artists as well. Those songs were all top ten hits. Even Barbra Streisand got in on the action and did a duet with Barry. Funny huh.! Justin Bieber, eat your heart out. The wrote a huge hit for Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers. I still laugh when kids try to compare the big time eighties groups to todays. That is a joke. We were lucky to be there during that time. The music industry is gone now. My favorite expression for today. "It ain't what it used to was..."

This is right up there with my favorite Brothers Gibb songs. What caught me when I first heard this song way TOO long ago 😆was that killer drum beat which kicks off this song and doesn’t stop throughout. It wasn’t until recently I read about how this song was born. According to Barry, it was that driving beat which I believe Maurice brought to the table and they loved it so much that they actually fought with the record company, or some business higher ups, who wanted that tamped down. The Gibbs refused to back down and it remained - thank goodness because it really does drive the song and of course the vocals 🙏 There is another song from around the same period called “One” which you might want to check out. However, there is a song and video which if I am not mistaken was the final one they did prior to Maurice passing which really caught me by surprise called “This Is Where I Came In” which you should definitely check out kzbin.info/www/bejne/a5KcZoqIiLypfqM

Barry said he woke up hearing a bit of YOU WIN AGAIN, then went to Maurice’s home studio, they used what they found laying around in his garage to make the stomp track and laid down the demo. Kind of a medieval stalker theme. One of the best things you can do to learn about the Bee Gees would be to react to BEE GEES 1960. Copyright might pull it down, but the most recent documentary BEE GEES HOW CAN YOU MEND A BROKEN HEART is great. Also, highly recommend Bee Gees Interview 2001 by JoxerElpoderoso, which focuses on songwriting and discusses losing Andy, etc.. Maurice opens up about getting sober in FIGHTING BACK. 80’s song recommendation.... IT’S MY NEIGHBORHOOD.... was written for MJ, but he wrote and recorded Bad instead, so they put it in their next album. You may be able to find a live performance from a concert to react to.

If you look back at the 1980s you only witness what actually stood the test of time until now. The stuff that was left in that decade - and rightfully so - has been forgotten and you wouldn't be aware of it. When I was ten - which was in the late 1980s, you could have woken me up in the middle of the night and I could have listed you at least a dozen reasons why there was no chance I was going to see the year 2000. Nuclear war, a nuclear powerplant melting down, the radioactive materials melting down into the planet's core to create a supervolcano that would erradicate all life, industrial smoke blacking out the sun, the ozone layer braking down an UV-radiation rendering the surface of the Earth uninhabitable, the Earth running out of oxigen because the rainforests were being cut or burned down.

Bee Gees - BBC Full Documentary 2014 162 Bee Gees Biography (2003) The one from 2014 is shorter than the one from 2003 but its more up to date. But the one from 2003 is more detailed. Just react to both to make the decision easier. I didnt include a link to the videos since KZbin tends take down comments with link because they think they are spam.
