A friend of mine talked me into joining a beer league. I'm 29, it's an 18+ league with NCAA players, junior hockey players, and due to the lack of teams, the two best 35+ teams joined our league. Some went semi pro. I've been grinding my ass of researching videos, drills, etc. I go to every public skate, and skate and shoot. I'm an absolute demon on roller blades, and can ice skate fairly well. Mixing hockey I to ice skating is killing my confidence. I can do both pretty well, but together is so tough. I'm 6 games in. Game 1 I could barely skate. Game 5 I recorded 2 assists. My last game was our first win, and I actually felt like I belonged out there. That came from watching all kinds of videos like this one, and comparing what tips kept recurring. And it has improved my game 10 fold. My first ice hockey game outside of pond hockey was our first game as a team. I'm 6 games in and not only have I built confidence, but because I'm figuring out some of the actual skating techniques, I'm becoming an important piece of the team. I wish I would've did a go pro so I could track my progression. Long Story short, if your new, put the work in. Practice everything you can. Be hard on yourself. But most importantly, remember that you're playing for the love of the sport. It'll all come together with time. Remember every mistake, but don't let it control you on the ice.

Nice! Will try it out once I'm recovered from ankle fracture and torn ligament. Was injured during friendly game due to falling after a collision with an opposite team player. I think this could be avoided if I'd had more skating skills

Since a while following your videos as ice hockey fan. Watching so to say, as a women I do not feel attracted to do that sport myself. Except for some skating moves or so > nice to see explanation with some moves explained anyhow by you.
