We travel just north of Kemmerer, Wyoming to Fossil Safari (part of the Warfield Quarries) to collect the incredible fossils of the famous Green River Formation situated in Wyoming, Utah, and Colorado. Owner Rick Hebdon and quarry assistant George Putnam treat us to a fantastic day filled with fish fossils, fossil extraction techniques, and geological education that will thrill any fossil seeker.
Collectors and museums all over the world proudly showcase the exquisitely preserved fossil flora and fauna from this jaw-dropping lagerstatte. Layers of hardened lime mud interspersed with volcanic ash contain millions upon millions of fossil fish, bats, lizards, birds, plants, crocodiles, snakes, and more.
