5:12 you mist to ammonites one in the big rock and one small on underneath the big rock.

I am having a bad case of ammonite envy. Finding these in NZ is tricky. To watch you lot popping them out nine to the dozen makes me want to catch a plane and a train and then hire a car. :-)

I am sure you have good finds in NZ ? Join us on Facebook and share

I will do just that. :-) Here is the link to my Flickr site if you are interested. www.flickr.com/photos/nzfossil/albums. There are albums of gear from some of the fossil localities in NZ . My interest is mostly in Late Jurassic sites as you might gather from the predominance of that type of material. Cheers H

Cheers Hamish some great finds there, love the shell slab. Are those shell fragments in "Mesozoic" section ?
@Paleos10006 жыл бұрын
There are some really lovely slabs of Monotis (Late Triassic) which are available at a wild windswept beach about five hours drive south of Auckland. I take my two sons down there to help out because them are large and very heavy. As to the shell fragments, if I have understood correctly, they are eggshells from a species of Titanosaur from Argentina. The locale is most probably Auca Mahuevo in Nehuen, Argentina. Apparently the ground is littered with them. Bought these many years ago before dino related stuff went through the roof price wise. I am glad you like the Flickr site. I put it together to help people i.d specimens in NZ. Bit limited though as I don't have the time or money to get around too many places. The South Island has some wonderful older sites, but it would need a substantial outlay of cash to get to them. One of these days...

Great video as usual. How far is the walk from the car park to the beach steps and is it dog friendly in June?
@fossiladventures29266 жыл бұрын
I would say 20 minutes easy up hill walk, you could do it quicker if you picked up the pace. As for dogs don't think there are restrictions on that section if the can manage the step. South of the car park is a popular family sandy beach which I am sure will have restrictions/

I would love to find them but they are extremely rare from where we collect apart from isolated bones from Gyrosteus, which are quite common.
