I am fossil hunting West of Lyme Regis today.I’m going fossil hunting along the Jurassic Coast at low tide. I’d like to find some of the beautiful little pyrite ammonites that wash out along the beach at low tide. Little nuggets of gold delight, saved from the shifting sands. I recommend wearing safety glasses and sturdy rubber gloves when hammering the right little rocks. I am going to show you right at the end of the video an old film of me splitting an ammonite out of a little limestone rock. This little rock splitting video has done very well on KZbin for me with millions of views. I ask in the short form video is it an Omanyte, snail or ammonite? The rock is whole before i tap the ammonite out of it, but some people have suggested the rock was split already. So look and learn how i spend alot of time sizing the rock up. Fossil hunting really does take hours of patience and persistence .Remember the cliffs are dangerous and liable to fall suddenly and without warning. Keep away from the dangerous cliffs, the best fossils are washed out onto the beaches at low tide, by the sea's actions. Look out for the slippery seaweed on the ledges and rocks. I offer fossil walks along the Jurassic Coast on the following website, so feel free to take a look at the website I made, with our online fossil walks ------www.lymeregisfo... There is a fossil collecting code of conduct in place along the Jurassic Coast.
