I, too! Also, would you be able to identify the reptile, fish and crinoid fossils and perhaps show pictures of how the animals looked when they were alive?

What a landslide. Crinoids are amazing as fossils, but i what's more amazing is the still exist today over 250 million years later....WOW! Your Dad has an amazing amount of skill and patience. Have any of these specimens, like the Crinoids, ended up in museums? It's so good to have you back, Doctor:) Do you have your own practice yet, or do you work in a clinic or hospital? Are you specializing? Cheers, Rik Spector

Though your video possibilities are perfect with these drone shots, your video could be more exciting by showing more of the hunt for fossils and cutting the landscape parts shorter. Then putting all of the very interesting preparation to the end. This way of video cutting would catch me more.

@michelleagnew878028 күн бұрын
I loved the drone footage because I got to see the geological process very clearly. The waters undercut the cliff face and the weight sheers of a section of that face. The debris field is exposed and makes it simple to identify the choice spots to tap into. Please always include the drone footage as a visual guide to see nature working on changing the landscape.

Great video all-around. It has a good mix of scenery, prep, and the beach. How long does it take you to get to the search area and then how long to get back to the car loaded with samples ? Do you two do any prep work on the samples ? Always watch your videos as soon as I see them listed.
@marksmith2885Ай бұрын
Thank you for your support 😀. From leaving the house to actually arriving at the hunting grounds it can take anywhere between 30 minutes to 90 minutes. The return journey always takes longer to get back to the car as usually our bags will be heavier and there’s usually a hill/cliff to climb up 😅😀

Good video. When you describe the name of the ammonite I usually can’t understand it. Maybe adding a name note on the video would help an ole man as me understand. I’m in USA and found thousands of Crinoids pieces but never a full fossilized unit. Indiana was a sea scape where many fossils and Geodes can be found. Thanks for sharing.

Question why you didnt take those death plates with you they would be valuable specimens, you realise that most people dont ever get to see such a thing. Maybe your local primary school would like such a specimen the children could learn lots from it. Just a suggestion I really enjoy your program and thats a big yes to more fossil prep please . Take good care on your adventures guys.🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🐞🐝🦋
@marksmith2885Ай бұрын
Thank you for your support 😃. The shale plates are very friable/fragile and although we could consolidate them we prefer to leave them on the coast for now. Perhaps we’ll collect a few plates in the future😃
@drfonkАй бұрын
Been watching you guys for years, absolutely love your video!. The dedication and the amazing preparation that goes into the fossils, especially doing it as a family. Would love to visit that coast line to find my own one day. We have many shale mines in my area, there tends to be quite a few flatish rounded nodules within them which are limestone. I have never found anything of interest inside them and wonder if they are ancient stones from a river bed at that time as often there are coprolites on the surface of one side. I also often find small fish teeth, scales and plant material in the shale around here. Keep up the great work!.
@marksmith2885Ай бұрын
Hi, thank you for your support and we’re happy that you enjoy our videos. Concerning the limestone nodules we often find them with the fossil preserved on the surface too whether it be ammonites or vertebrate material 😃
