When I was 16 I was obsessed with Foster The People and I had the album Supermodel. I would put it everytime in the car with my godfather (who raised me with my mom, he was like a dad to me). He always asked me “put the third song, I like that one, is my favorite”. Coming of Age was the song. He passed away 6 days ago and listening to this song takes me back to these beautiful moments ❤️

THIS is the type of music that should be on the radio. It has meaning, it's genuine, it's groovy. It appeals to so many people and it's the type of nostalgic music that you'll listen to years from now and remember all the good times you had while listening to it. Love this band more than words can say.

Unfortunately it doesn't meet the pop industry's standard of having enough dopamine-releasing bits and irregular jumps in rhythm to satisfy the population's ever-decreasing attention span. You might just change the channel if it was playing on the radio, which cannot be allowed to happen. Music is a business these days.

KirbyCrossing I'll recommend some decent-great bands, in my opinion, then. The Temper Trap, White Lies, The Killers, Modest Mouse, Franz Ferdinand, Muse, Gorillaz, Phoenix, Cut Copy, The Rubens, Future Islands, The War on Drugs, and Arcade Fire.... I guess... Though personally I hate Arcade Fire and think they are the most overrated band of the past decade, BUT they are good none the less, and you might dig them. Not to mention there's been a TON of artists outside of bands or rock genres, and I will recommend them too. M83, Daft Punk, Sleep Party People, Caribou, Death Grips, Big Black Delta, Youth Lagoon, Danger, and Dan Deacon. There's way more, but those are the ones I can think off of the top of my head. Check those artists out, and you will see that music hasn't lost anything. Rock music. It's still going strong, and always will be. Sometimes you need to just search more, but even several of the artists I have mentioned have had mainstream success.

I can sort of understand some people not liking the video because at first I wasn't sure what to think. After watching it three or four more times I love it. It's about Americana and growing up in the 70s and 80s. Nice homage to the era and it fits the song perfectly. Nice job, boys!

Kyle Williams I try to be objective. I believe a lot of thought went into the making of this video.

I can't judge FtP's next album from only one song, but if the entire album does sound like this song, then we've been there already with Battle Born by the Killers.

Billy Drake I've heard more than half of "Supermodel" and there's a big variety of sounds.

"Just like an animal, I protect my pride When I'm too bruised to fight And even when I'm wrong, I tend to think I'm right" I feel this to the core, wishing my aldolescence has got something wonderful to reminisce about, but I'm here left in self-doubt, regrets, and agony.

I don't understand how Pumped Up Kicks is the only song that made it to Top 40 (to my understanding). Every single song these guys put out is a major hit!
@Hollywoodsteve10 жыл бұрын
For alternative/indie bands you have to look at the Alternative chart, where they have had four top ten hits. "Best Friend" is #15 this week and rising and will likely be their fifth.

OMG i love the concept and style of this video. I usually hate the vintage filter look but this video made me think other wise. the feel of the song makes you feel like you are coming of age. its weird, frightening, and something that cant be explained but when it hits, it feels like this song. Like a collision of feelings and emotions. Awesome job Foster The People.

Damn. 2014. So insignificant to most of you. For me, 2014 was when I was in fourth grade. This song was in the much music Alternative playlist every morning. I’m in 9th grade now and I’d do anything to go back to the time that this song was an anthem of.

Original? great band but this sound is 80's new wave
@networknewbie111 жыл бұрын
yes, but they put their own spin on it as well. that is what makes it original. truth is, nothing is truly original. everyone borrows something from someone else. even art imitates life. in order for it to not sound like something that came before it, it would more than likely never be heard anyway.
