Mate, I’m a Brit living in NZ, and that chocolate you didn’t like is the best! Whittaker’s chocolate is more kiwi than Lord of the Rings, and that sea salt one is about the best! Sacrilege! 😵… great images 👍

@@fototripper Hi, maybe a nice heavy Guinness scraped off the bottom of a vat in some seedy back street in Dublin would act as a counterpoint. Whittakers have moved a long way from their famous "peanut slabs" when I was at school (before you were born laddie) and have branched out to all kinds of weird and wonderfull variations www.whittakers.co.nz/en_NZ/ although some of their flavours in their "speciality" blocks are pretty out there (14 types on their web site) I'm sure you could turn something up to match your finely honed taste in chocolate. Personally I'm a fan of extreme dark chocolate but I did find their Fijian Ginger and Kerikeri Manderine decent if you like chocolate polluted with fruit. If and when you ever get here in this weird world I'm sure you'll be well entertained test driving their whole range, although I dare say they'll need to roll you back on the plane when you leave. When I said smashing videos, I didn't mean literally with your toe... Immersion youtube video! Love feeling like I'm there with you!!! Wave shots are awesome! I've found the 100-400 is pretty good for weather sealing, I always wipe the extension portion before closing it though. Great pointers! Gotta try em! Try the 2x teleconverter! I use it with the 100-400 all the time for wildlife and more. Autofocus still works and is sharp. 1.5 works well too. Just understand the F-stop changes and all is perfect with the 2x!!!! DO IT!! Oh wow, that first seascape with the gull in it is spectacular! Well done. I locked my keys in my Jeep one time, I put an extra set in my camera bag. Haven't done it again! Omg! You make me feel better. I was chasing a kingfisher and got so excited I ran to the car to change lenses and guess who locked the keys in the car and found out an hour later in a very sketchy area! I’m 50 and I had to call my daddy for help bc he has my spare lol!! 😊😢

Never risk your sony. Thier water sealing is very poor. I speak from experience and I am careful. The battery door is a real weak spot. I have designed a flat bar that screws to the bottom of mine that seals everything up. You have to take it off to change the battery but I would rather do that than risk my camera. Your shots in the rain amazed me you didnt have trouble later. Mine shut down with one 100th of the amount of moisture I saw on your video. Really for me it was just sprinkling. Didn't come back on for 24 hours of drying in a very warm environment. I now have a rain cover for my cameras. Weathersealed or not. Amazing shots Gavin.

The Olympus O-MD Em1 mk 1 and 2 are practically submersible. I have one along with my Sony's and I just love that camera. Micro 4/3 but still a beast.

Great again, went to the very spot 2 years ago, and although the water was fairly flat, the rest of the conditions were like yours, I had left my waterproof back in the UK and only had a denim jacket on. I got absolutely drenched, and it took me two days to get warm again !

Gavin 6 bucks for a really thin plastic sock and on eBay will protest that 5000 on top of your tripod. I hate the big bulky ones but the cheapest no frills actually work the best. Its just a straight sleeve. Love the one with the suspended seagull.

Since you ask, the Pentax range of WR bodies and lenses are as good for extreme conditions as they get, by comparison Sony seals are as effective as wet sticking plaster. I can take my kit out without any concerns whatever the weather and surf spray throw at it. I just wish tripod manufacturers would do the same, ever spent an afternoon cleaning sand from twist grips?

Oh, I forgot to commend you on taking level shots. At min. marker 11:00, the tripod points back to you. The ball head seems to point away and to your left. Yet, the camera looks level. High-degree difficulty...most impressive.

Yep, never did understand the salt in chocolate thing, but... the chocolate factory is just across the way, and the salt flats just down the road from where I live. So, if you ever do decide to head down this way, I can easily point you to where the important stuff is. And the odd magnifique photo location.

Oddly enough, I didn't hear about it in this video. Ah well, don't want to over due it I guess. So let me. It's a great book!! I love the stories and the processing tips! Much like a good bar of chocolate it needs to savored.. slowly...letting each image fill your imagination with the experience of being at the location. Well done Gavin, well done!
