Of all my lens, this one is the absolute sharpest. You can do excellent landscape photography by stitching several photos together. Cheyne Walls and Jay P Morgan, two very famous industry professionals give a logical explanation why to use a 50mm lens. See kzbin.info/www/bejne/fGHXiqaYbLeig6csi=Liv_Hap1DbrkQpN-

its raw, colour is set buy your processing program which you control....all the camera does is a generic which you can adjust....just have to get your exposure correct with a wide dynamic range ie priority to the right... ps good luck with your book "water droplets"

Looks absolutely beautiful. I love the 1 hour exposure shot. But you haven’t released a video in a while Gavin.. Everything alright? 🤔

Each time I take a picture with my Pixel 7 Pro and view it on my phone, I think they're amazing. On my uhd monitor it looks crap. Moral. If you shoot for social media, buy a decent camera and spent the rest on a holiday.

Today I learned 3 new english words, Fockass, Oroora and Bollkay. I think you should lean into these new words hard just to annoy the puritans like me! 😂

Meat Cove was quite the novel place to go for this eclipse, especially because the tip of Cape Breton was the only place in Nova Scotia to be within the path AND because Nova Scotia became legend when it was named in the song “You’re So Vain.” The NS reference in the song was “You flew your Learjet to Nova Scotia to see the total Eclipse of the Sun.” Now if you had also flown in a Learjet to NS, then you definitely would have earned some bragging rights, enough to write a book about your eclipse experience. Maybe you still did! Congrats🎉🍾

I switched between 55mm Sonnar and 50mm Planar multiple times, lol. While the light weight and compact size of the Sonnar seemed indispensable, I loved the rendering of the Planar and preferred the 50mm focal length over 55mm. Eventually, I replaced the 55mm with the new Sony 50mm G lens that is even lighter and more compact and is great for landscape photography. There is one thing I love about the Sony system: the abundance of native lenses not only from Sony but also from third party manufacturers.

That is my most used lens, and I love it.

Which camera did you use for those stunning cinematic videos of the landscapes?

I personally don't like this Neo-AI stuff. Editing is okay, removing of small detail is okay but adding stuff that never was there? That takes out the fun of photography for me.

How many books have been destroyed due to KZbin antics or is it all the same book that gets progressively worse?

I really love your videos. Informative for a fellow pro photographer and the funny stuff that really makes me laugh out loud. So good !!

What's on top of Gavin's primary camera at 8:47? I ask years after this was posted! Still catching up with the back catalog.

That at 11:24 is definitely a design flaw. The “Closed” position of the zipper should be at the top end position. Probably the Chinese factory was sewing the zipper the false direction. Greetings from inexistent quality control 😅

Knees , they are cypress knees...lungs and stabilzer's together. edit: when I was in the Okefenokee, my guide told me stories about the snakes...hanging from the trees. I didn't see any but there were lots of gators.

I've being using the same square filter systems for way too long. Slow, cumbersome and irritating as heck. I stopped using grads, because I agree, you can do a much better job with a computer which made life a little easier. CPLs are fine, but have a stronger color cast than linear polarizers and aren't needed with mirrorless cameras. Recently I got 2 magnetic filters, a linear polarizer, (LPL) and a dark, 6 stop ND CPL. Rarely need more than six stops, but they can be stacked to create a 8-11 stop variable ND. Fits easily in a pocket, pops on and off, game changer. Ok, so I'm still carrying 2x as many filters as you are. I can live with it.

I just googled ‘best nature photographers on KZbin’ and noticed that several of those listed abandoned their channel a year ago. And overall, most of them have very limited views. You are still doing really well in this field, even though KZbin seems to have had its best time.
