Thanks for the review of one of my go to favorites along to Eau Sauvage. Tried to get it as a gift recently and it's unfortunately getting harder to find in the US and the price has gone up considerably. Fun story you missed... Marie Antoinette was said to be a huge fan of Houbigant fragrances and story has it that while fleeing Paris, she stopped by Houbigant and bought perfume she took with her to the guillotine for strength while she was being beheaded.

Bought it about 2 months ago, blind,and was thrilled how good and sophisticated is.Fantastic modern fragrance,not dated,as the name would suggest.And Royal,yes.Comparing Beau de hour,I think Houbigant is way more modern and more classy,as BDJ reminds me of Zino,which really has that 80' smell, obviously.And your bottle has some cap problems,as usually is pretty sturdy:)

That loose cap ruined the video for me. I have two bottles and it is a very heavy cap and tight fitting.

Hey Dan have both these fragrances from Houbigant love them both but I have to admit Cologne Intense has no longevity nor projection after half a hour for me damn shame.On a more positive note I’m putting it out there Bon Viveur for me tops them both a bold statement but just my personal opinion and subjective taste peace out ,good day Mr Bond lol cheers 🍻✌️

Like F.ROYALE a lot , saw a lot negative comments on Cologne intense , that’s interesting. Some commentators compare Col. Int. to smell of : mud , tee , bad breath or hay. !!

Haven't worn this one in a long time. Had to stow it away to save the juice. Definitely feels like a historical piece to me. Especially since scents like these are disappearing thanks to those fogging b's mentioned. But an excellent description of the scent Dan. Ps, save the b's! 🐝

Had the edp and a sample of the more concentrated parfum version...sold the set, because the performance was rather bad, only a very whispering fragrance...I expected a bit more from a classic fougere. Really like the smell thou.

Absolutely! One of my favorites and I have a crap loaf of colognes, parfums etc. My wife dislikes most of them but almost always compliments this one. Very Green, older school fragrance ... very well done. Lasts quite a while too.

I have this. It really does smell like what I thought THE prototype fougere would smell like. But it's not the same scent as the original, although I would think it would be close. This Houbigant project should have created two fragrances: an exact replica of the original to the extent that could be done, and this modern interpretation.

The opening smells similar to Ginger beer to me. Gentlemanly. Smoky dry down. Like, not love. I see your cap (like mine) no longer fits snugly.
