Damn Arod lives rent free in Doug Mentkiewicz head… Bro there is no comparison if Arod felt the need to put up numbers it’s cuz he was drafted 1st overal the pressure to succeed was different. DM probably had a upper middle class upbringing if he didn’t make the league he would probably be a doctor or something that’s not gonna make a big enough difference for his life overall. Arod is a son of an immigrant mom. Him making the league and being the best player in the world was the difference between his family having generational wealth or him being a janitor. The pressure a bit different when you think bout it from that perspective. Arod had the weight of not only expectations of being the first pick, he added his family’s future so yeah, Arod was probably not the chic person in hs probably he didn’t have the same funds DM family was working with.

This dude is a hater. Bringing on people who does not try to improve the game is a bad look for game of baseball. I get the hate for Alex Rodriguez (deserved) but hate on other former MLB players and their opportunities- that’s just jealous. I would HATE to play for this dude as HS player. It’s all good he is speaking his truth and maybe that is his thing. It’s bad look for this podcast. Talking shit on a lot of former players.

I don't really take issue with most of what he said. Hating on Kevin Millar rubbed me wrong though. Millar is on there because he's entertaining and fun. He also has a career WAR of 14.2 compared to Mientkiewicz's 11.8.
