Looks like a wonderful day.. hopeful that the cicadas calm down at some points so you can enjoy your day. Nice agates and the petrified wood, I found my first piece at 53.. I went to our local lake and found lots of quartz, and milky quartz. The time was right and they were glowing in the edge of the water.

The cicadas are distracting your eyes. Cute little petrified twig, love the milky blue chalcedony.(one of my favorite things to see) Beautiful sunset and that bit of wood chalcedony blue in it. Be well... thanks for sharing!

the cicadas sound just as loud here in S.E. Iowa....in my neighbors tree outside my window.....did some rockhounding yesterday....found some neat coral fossils & my biggest agate ever....the size of a hen's egg....wish I could post a pic but alas I can't....this 75 yr old lady needs to rest all day today to recover from all that....lol

I sure recognize that ForestFire color to the light. The airborne smoke does SOMETHING amazing to the light. I lived in Central Coast of California & in the summer, while driving North towards the Bluegrass Festivals, I remember noticing that the ground was all orange--but the shadows under the trees were dark red! Really kind of spooky. But the fires weren't that close, except for that one year in the Sierra. When every driveway along the Highway 49 had fire vehicles parked there, preventing anyone from going down the roads. THAT was a little spooky, but the Festival went on as great as usual. Sure love your rock hunts & videos. Thanks for sharing with us!!

We've got very noisy cicadas (as well as katydids and locusts, so it's loud 24/7!) here in central Okla. too (maybe they're everywhere, I don't know) -- what is really weird is when all of the thousands of whichever they are stop chirping at once and it just goes dead quiet. You had some good finds today, and what a pretty spot. Loved the sunset reflection on the water. Thanks for sharing!

You always get a thumbs up from me.I learned from meMiner to always search through downed tree roots even out in the woods. I think I gave that tip to Katydid too. Have you taken your exam yet. If so hope you did very well and if you have not you will do well I am sure.Havagudun Alex and Kip too!

Hi so I just moved to Montana, I was wondering if you knew some places up north where I could potentially find some nice rocks? Also up north has been pretty smoky up in the mountains where I live too!!
@AgateAngler4 жыл бұрын
Hi Alliana! Congrats on moving to an awesome state. I'd start by looking into the Montana Rockhounding Facebook group and ask the same question there as those guys know a whole lot more than I do. I'd also recommend picking up a copy of "Rockhounding Montana" - it is a falcon guide book and has about 100 of the state's top rockhounding sites in it.

I just got through watching a man carve into an opalized clam and make a nice cabishon. I had no idea that such things exist. So if you see a white fossil clam, it could have opal inside. Not just the mother of pearl shiny inside but like solid opal inside. You have to carve away at the white chalky shell part. I hope you find one some day.

Don't know if this is useful to you, but I dip my smaller pet wood pieces in Pledge Floor Care Gloss (it's clear and has a blue label) to get a shine on them without having to polish them by hand. I've tried brushing it on my big pieces (small logs) and it takes several coats to make a difference but I think that's because of the porosity. Some of those pieces would look really cool shined up with the floor wax.
@shesridindirty4 жыл бұрын
Angie Does Stuff how long does the shine last?
@AngieDoesStuff4 жыл бұрын
@@shesridindirty a few months as long as they're inside. Some less, some more. I played around with clear krylon too but it wasn't very shiny. I'm thinking now that using the 2 together, krylon first then wax, might get it shinier for longer.
