I had a '92 9C1 Caprice assigned to me as a rookie cop back in 1996-1997. Although not as fast as the later LT-1 powered Caprices, the '92s sounded the meanest of that era. You'll "hear" when you get to mash the pedal to the floor. I hated having to give that car up for a Crown Vic. Good luck with it!

Glad I came accross these, I’ve been a fan of these, and the slightly later model impala SS, and seeing that these are now able to come to Australia means I can get one, or maybe a Buick road master estate with the wood paneling. Enjoy your new car.

You should get one Felix or the Roadmaster wagon. I have that on my list too. Please subscribe for more old car videos.

Very cool Mark !! I love these. What I also really like is how tough these things are, and standing up to Police work, assures us many years of Sunday driving with relative ease. In duty, like here in Australia, they would idle on the side of the road for many hours and not overheat. They were an awesome package, with features as Mark explains. This particular era can be seen in the Australian shapes, and the movie Jumanji starring Robin Williams had a nice new similar one of these running in the movie - not too sure on that year. Cool car.

Always preferred the box Caprices to these. IMO, way too many styling mistakes, at least on the 91-93 models. Didn't like the closed in rear wheel wells, taillights or the dashboard design on these years. By '94 (had one of those) they corrected those issues, but I loved the '90 Caprice 9c1 I had at the same time way better than '94 9c1. By the same token, I never liked the 1992-1997 Ford CVs for the same reasons, again too many styling mistakes. By the 1998 redesign, the were better, and in my opinion, they perfected the design by the 2006 model.

Yes, the boxy models were a great car too. I like the early aero models like mine the best as they are more unusual, less conventional than the later series (which was still great). I am just grateful the GM and Ford both offered large, V8 rear wheel drive cars in the 1990’s that rode on full chassis (with Ford offering them for another ten years after that.
