I was expecting him to try and say that the other guy was infertile and they'd asked him to be the donor, that's why he's her biological father. Didn't even try to look innocent, just so far up his own delusions that he thought it was okay. My thought wouldn't even explain him being on the birth certificate, pretty sure most hospitals wouldn't do that for a donor, but it's an attempt.

A paternity test would help if he's taking the kid in, but then you get into why was the test in with the stuff they got from the old home alongside the birth certificate that he's already on, and the argument for it just gets worse and worse

I think, what with her being a lawyer and all, she could not risk committing paternity fraud by lying on the birth certificate. If it ever came out that she had fraudulently put her husband's name on the birth certificate she could lose her license to practice law, and therefore lose her career, whereas if she put the real dad's name on the birth certificate the worst that would likely happen if her husband ever found out is that they get divorced and she could get sued in civil court by her husband. She had to be truthful about the real father on the birth certificate to not risk her career, and she banked on her husband never finding out. She was a cold and calculating b-word.

This makes no sense unless her husband Colin already knew, and approved of the plan; there are too many situations that can arise where Colin needs to have the birth certificate, and if he reads it, he finds out about the affair.

99% of the times when a cheater says "it was just the one time" it in fact was not just the one time. They're trickle truthing and only admits to as little as they possibly can, the bare minimum. Only when they are presented with more evidence to their lying will they admit to anything more, but even then will they only admit to the bare minimum to make it align with the new evidence. You almost never get the full truth, only bits and pieces, because they think they can still save the situation, like the proverbial or literal narcissists that they are.
