We stumbled into this tiny home eatery in Mudigere run by a young couple, Ravi and Vidya Pujari who began this to supplement their marginal coffee growing income. The food is Mangalorean, revolving around seafood that is procured fresh. We landed on the second Saturday of a month, a day when they supposedly don’t have too many customers and therefore do not procure a large variety of seafood. But what we tasted was the sort that was satisfying enough. The fries may have been slightly overdone, but was tasty nonetheless and the curries the sort that hit the spot along with a pleasing crab ghee roast. What’s nice overall is the warming hospitality with which the couple serve you in their modest eatery. Definitely a lunch spot to try should you be in and around Mudigere in Karnataka. Excellent presentation .. I grew up in a small sea side town on eastern LOng Island, NY .. I was a fisherman as a kid ( mostly shell and crab) I had my own boat at age 12 and would sell my catch to REstos and Road side I bought my first drumset by these meassures. bc my family was poor , dad was a cop in NYC. with a set of drums in hand I then . then became a National recognized Jazz drummer.. the food loving nature of me has always been with SE ASIA>. I lived in Malaysia for some time but I find Im always drawn to sub cont india for many reasons.. and of clourse the exquisite cuisine.. India has the best in the World.. in my opnion.. and Ive done a fair amount if travel around the world.. second to India is Malaysian.. and then not last my own culture of Italy.. My ,mom is from ITaly ..I learned all of the families recipoe from my Nonna ( GRandmother) . My kitchen is all about curries.. We were suppose to travel from Philippines ( my wifes homeland) to INdia had our Visas paid for....but then the Pandemic struck.. hope to make it there someday soon.. this time Ill stay for 3 minths if possible and travel and tour.. Ill need to review all of your vlogs so Ill know which ones to visit whilst in India.. Blessings and Namaskar

Good morning dear Kripal 🙏 First to comment but would take me a while to complete it as I watch and immerse myself in every frame 😀 It’s so nice that even without recommendation you see an eatery and decide to take a look and try it out ✊🏻✊🏻The owner Ravi his wife Vidya and brother have such a genuine and wonderful smile and that itself is a pleasing sight . I always love a passionate chef / owner who are proud of their business 👏🏼👏🏼 Fabulous enterprising and entrepreneurial attitude by Ravi 👌👌 The fishes looks very well marinated 😋 Yes eatery is compact , yet hygienic. The fact that they have at-least 90-100 customers for lunch and also at times the customers need to wait . You have chosen a perfect eatery for experimentation👌Despite the pandemic and his chef moving out of the eatery made Ravi and his family to cook the dishes themselves. Positive attitude and genuine respect 🫡✊🏻 That’s an awesome “Fish fare “ on your table 😋 Wow have never tried a Raagi Ambli and thanks for explaining the taste profile 🙏 If the marination is perfect then the Fried fish would embrace the Masala 😋 We make the bengal gram more in a Sundal format and it’s indeed tasty 😋 Possibly their regular patrons loved a crisp and charred end and that’s fine . What’s the Kodai fish is called in English ? That was so candid to request Ravi to provide you a slightly less roasted Fish 👍 So happy that you could reminisce your Mom’s Channa recipe 🙏 The crab 🦀 ghee roast looks scrumptious and spectacular 😋 True that even the best crab eating foodies love to eat it in a tad messy way to relish every gram of the crab meat 😀 That’s a super fab combo of the Boiled rice with the Puli Munchi tart spicy saru 😋 Every bite that you take only elevates my craving to have a sea-food meals 😀 The Kadai fish is fried to perfection and so glad that you enjoyed the surprise hidden gem 💎 eatery 👍 I am not sure of the English names of Kodai and Kandai . Hi Rajesh, glad you enjoyed our video account of this humble eatery that serves up some delicious homely fare. the ragi ambli is the sort of warm beverage that seals any gaps in case one feels so after a meal, it's that wholesome. Wrt your queries on the fish, the Kodai is Croaker, and the Kandai, I think, a species of the Barracuda. The boiled rice with a kadak pulimunchi curry is a good spicy way to get one's fill of fresh meenu, or fish. Have a great weekend. Cheers!

Southern India's food is delicious but the amount of spice is 4X more than a normal central indian person's home. During my job stay in Coimbatore, TN (1 year)..the spices did gave my peptic ulcer. I am still suffering...
