Live in Texas and I’ve got mature, combo skin with a pretty oily t-zone, a ton of texture, large pores and a LOT of discoloration.....and I absolutely ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ this foundation. My days are 16+ hours long and this has been THE only foundation, out of over 100 tried, that did NOT settle into my fine lines.....that one shocked the sh*t out of me honestly. I use a brush and do a finishing tap-around with a sponge. Set very lightly with powder per usual. It worked perfectly with all my serums/moisturizers/sunscreen/primers. When not just your female coworkers but your male coworkers as well, comment that you look great, it’s def a keeper 🤣 The most impressive “wear” of this foundation is 1) ZERO settling into lines/wrinkles or pores, 2) smoothed out texture like NOTHING else I’ve EVER seen/tried, 3) it’s staying power and 4) it looks extremely skin-like without any cakey-ness whatsoever. Bottom line, you truly have to try foundation for yourself. It honestly could go either way and how it performs for one is not necessarily how it will perform for another. Holy grails (etc. ELDW....worst foundation EVER) can be failures for some, and vice versa 🤷🏼♀️

Did you use the McGrath primer? Since Angie did not buy the primer, I was curios if that might be part of the problem.
@shivondevi5 жыл бұрын
Oh my gosh! Yes, I totally agree. I commented above that total strangers have been telling me all week that my skin looks so good. It really looks like skin, I'm shocked at how skin like it looks. Also, most days I didn't use a primer or setting powder and it lasted all day. Yesterday I used the Rimmel stay matte powder and it stayed completely matte. I'm in loveeee, like you I also own many many foundations this is definitely my ❤😍

Diane Miller actually, no, I did not buy the primer nor powder. I considered it but thought I had spent enough by that point, LOL!! I follow my typical primer routine(s) which goes like this: use tatcha primer all over, concentrating the majority of the product on the “outer” areas of my face and under the eyes (this has been LIFE CHANGING for my under-eye area 😳); a pore filling primer in areas that need it. I change up my primers sometimes “just because” but still use whatever I do choose that day in the same manner. Smoothing primer on the exterior of face and under eyes and pore filling where needed.

shivondevi when I got home from work on the first day I wore this foundation, I was sitting in my car with the door open, just taking a breather and my 20yo daughter came outside and said “mom, your foundation looks REALLY good! What are you wearing? It looks so smooth, like, wow!” and she eyeballed me half to death, all up in my face, literally within inches, lol!! Mind you, I get up at 4am, I’m at work by 6am. I often work until about 7-7:30pm, never take a lunch and I work from a “standing desk”.....which basically means I stand all day, I have no chair. I come home and hit the ground running with a hubby, 5 kids (8, 10, 16, 18 & 20) and two of the cutest Pomeranians known to exist who happen to think they are glued to my feet as soon as I walk through the door. Needless to say, I’m one busy woman 😝 I consider myself a pretty hard/tough critic when it comes to foundation......honestly, my expectations are prolly unreasonable. I don’t have super-model-perfect skin nor do I have a simple issue or two. I’m VERY red in the face, uneven tone, large pores, fine lines and texture.....texture is THE worst, I swear 😭 This foundation smoothed over my face like some freaky “veil”. I was looking in my car mirror (worst mirror EVER!) and I kept staring in disbelief at how smooth my skin looked. I encourage everyone to just go and get a sample of this (or just buy it, you can always return at Sephora) and try it out for yourself! Maybe it will be HG status for you, maybe it’ll suck balls..... you’ll never know until you try it! 😊 Side note, I’ve heard many people prefer this one without a primer. I’ve not tried it that way yet, but I think I’m going to try leaving out my primer tomorrow.

I've got super duper extremely oily skin and I'm 65! I've long since quit worrying about it. I love this foundation and simply blot carefully throughout the day (per usual). It looks like I have great even skin without seeing foundation. I use Revlon photofinish primer but not on the nose area, where I carefully apply the Becca matte primer. I apply minuscule amounts of foundation at a time using the Stansout sponge. Love this!

Angie, I’m 53 with normal to dry skin and I LOVE this foundation like you...without primer, just a bit of Tatcha silk canvas on nose area and sunscreen. It doesn’t get shiny on me at all and it’s the first time my husband has ever said “you should wear whatever that face makeup you wore last week was” (when I tried the Fenty he made this comment to go back to the PM)! I do NOT like the primer because it makes me too mat but I honestly think it might work really well for your skin! I can send you a few pumps of mine in a sample container if you need.

I think the setting powder improved the shiny look, Angie- You always look great-my problem with my “mature” skin is “Polka dot pores”, if I use setting powder it helps but often gets cakey looking if I use too much. I have combo skin also, and have a lot of trouble also in finding a color that is not too yellow in spite of the label being “cool” or “pink”. I think this foundation is a bit pricey for me...not worth the look it gives. My 10x mirror is my enemy I think....☺️💕 I never would have noticed these tiny imperfections with my 7x mirror....😍‼️

Got a not very generous sample of the Pat McGrath at Sephora. I apply foundation very lightly but the sample was just about enough for one use. I applied by dotting it over my face that had been primed with serum, moisturizer, SS and primer. I patted it in and then blotted with a damp Beauty Blender. The coverage was a light medium. The shade I picked was a perfect match. My skin is normal with small pores. I saw a little settling in pores, but other than that, the finish and lasting were outstanding, but no better than the Koh Gen Do Aqua I'm currently using. I thought it was a tiny bit more drying than the Koh Gen Do. Since it has alcohol and fragrance, I'm going to pass.

I agree everyone should wear sunscreen under make up but I think sometimes foundations are written off as bad performing when it might just be the product they’ve been put on over just doesn’t work with it. By initially testing the foundation with just moisturiser it shows how the product performs just on its own. Then if by adding sunscreen the product doesn’t work as well, then it’s obviously the sunscreen reacting with it and you can then look at using a different sunscreen. I think it just gives a fairer impression of the foundation. I really liked that the first day test was included. I love the Australian gold and use it because of Angie 👍🏻 x

Hi Angie, catching up on your video. Appreciate this review as I use Australian Gold because of you and this helps so much. Thanks for the extensive testing and nice to know how long it will wear. Looks a little better with the Elta MD which I also use. Those Pros and Cons are awesome, Have a wonderful week. Hugs.,....Sherry

Hi Angie, I love your reviews and find thag your foundation preferences are close to mine. I discovered Chanel’s Perfection Lumiere Velvet and CYO Lifeproof thanks to you! Looking forward to your views on the reformulation of the Chanel foundation (which has been out here in Europe), and hopefully also Suqqu’s cream foundation which I love (alongside Sensai’s cellular performance foundation), which I have found to be very comfortable to wear. Thanks for your videos!!!

Hi Angie! :) I was looking forward to watch this review because usually what works for you works for me too. I love testing new foundations but to be honest Pat McGrath is not one of my favorite brands. I was somehow willing to test it if you have said that you absolutely love it but I'm quite happy that I get to save some money now. Thank for the awesome review as always. xoxo

Another great video. Full of useful information to educate the consumer. I’ll take a pass on this foundation! A rep at Ulta recommended PUR Tinted Moisturizer for my mature skin. I have been using it now since February of this year. Would love to hear your options on it! Thanks for all that you do!
