Foundation Season 2 VFX Breakdown

Delve into Outpost's VFX work behind season 2 of Foundation.
Outpost VFX’s work on season 2 was varied, involving a number of key sequences such as the assassination attempt on Brother Day, Demerzel’s decapitation and subsequent regeneration of her android skull, and Demerzel’s sliced body encased in glass.
Perhaps the most complex work undertaken by the team, the FX-heavy sequence of Demerzel’s regeneration required Outpost to design and implement the gold quantum-computer inspired webbing action for the regeneration process and design the internal workings of her head. All CG elements needed to be perfectly embedded into the plate footage, which featured multiple mirrors for added complexity.
Other work included set extensions and environment work for the ocean planet Synnax, creating various hologram and sandogram FX across the season, and adding CG fire and heightening the action in Day’s fight sequence of episode 1.
