Less than two years before the premiere of "All In The Family", Rob Reiner was one of the key writers on another controversial CBS program, "The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour"....although highly successful in the Neilsens at the time, CBS head, William Paley, cancelled the series before the end of the 1969 season because of its political and religious satire..even causing consternation with then US president, Richard Nixon...AITF eventually became an extension of the Smothers show.....
