Can you recommend a full coverage foundation with a built in spf cause it makes my skin too oily if if apply it before I use foundation
@Zara_Brown8 жыл бұрын
Alice Honestly the spf in foundation isn't really enough to protect your face. I'll have a look in my collection though. I'm sure I have a few with spf15-20 x Could be worth you having a look at better spf for before hand. Also layering spf say in moisturiser, then primer then foundation for example doesn't add any more protection the way you'd expect it would. They tend to cancel each other out but I'll get back to you. I have a few foundations with just enough spf x
@SinaMuscarina6 жыл бұрын
I don`t understand the SPF thing, because for me make up with SPF does protect the skin.Probably not in really hot desert environments but europe in summer, totally.

I bought all of these on your recommendation Lisa, (not all at once!). I can confirm that they are all wonderful for dry skin and all a joy to use. It's a nice range of coverage too: from light to medium/full.

GREAT VIDEO! I am 35 and my skin has been dry as a bone all my life. Good thing about it is that nothing will grow on my face - ever! No spots, no acne, no blackheads, no irritation, no nothing ;) Bad thing: cheeks are always a little red and my skin is just superdry, ie no glowy looks for me. But this video made me buy both Bobbi Brown products: the foundation stick (that I love and carry around cos its handy and fits in my very small handbag) and the - and this ist THE BEST EVER - tinted moisterizing balm. I dont like the smell of it but what it does to my skin is simply incredible. Finally, I can have a dewy looking skin day and nobody will notice product on my skin. Since I dont wear foundation ever but sometimes want to cancel out the redness on my cheeks, this is THE ultimate solution for me! THANK YOU, LISA!

I would love an update on this video! I have very dehydrated skin without much redness or flaky patches but my skin just drinks foundation and makes a dewy foundation look matte!

I went out and bought the bourjois healthy mix serum foundation after watching this video. Literally, it is AMAZING. I have really dry patches over my forehead, cheeks and chin and it looks so good on my skin. It feels great, it feels like I have nothing on yet gives a great coverage. Seriously, IT IS SO GOOD! Thank you Lisa :)

That Bobbie Brown Tinted Balm is AMAZINGGGG! I've been using it for almost a year and a half now and have never regretted investing in it. 1 pot has lasted me a year too. It's so luxurious to use, because it smells so unbelievably beautiful.

I have Normal to Dry skin and I highly recommend the Chanel Vitalumiere. One pump is all you need for your whole face and you can build up the coverage. The radiance this foundation gives is absolutely gorgeous especially on my dull lackluster skin. I completely agree with Lisa on this recommendation ~

I paid 50 USD for the Tinted Moisterizing Balm by Bobbi Brown while I was in the US. Let me tell you that this was the best investment ever! I had watched your video, Lisa, and I decided to try it. I never wear foundation since I have quite good skin for my 36 years. The balm is my holy grail now since it gives my very dry skin such a nice glow and smoothness! I LOVE IT!!!!! Thank you !

I live in western Canada, where it is always dry, but particularly during the winter. Since I have to bus everywhere (thus, I am often outside in really harsh weather, with wind, my scarf, and a constantly dripping nose affecting my makeup), and then I go into the heated indoors which has an incredible drying effect on my already naturally dry skin, I just feel like I want to crawl out of my skin even on the best of days. I apply a ton of moisturizer each day, use lots of conditioner on my hair, and do my makeup the best I can, but it never seems to survive even a few hours into the workplace (where I cannot bring a humidifier). As brilliant as I look in the mornings, my face looks dull, tired, patchy, and red (in the dry corners) by the afternoon. I will definitely look into these foundations, thanks!
@emonypemony10 жыл бұрын
I SO AGREE with you LN! I also live in western canada and the cold winters completely strips away all the moisture in my face, leaving it dry red itchy and just gross and i hate the feeling i get when i have dry skin that i can't fix! i use a bunch of stuff too, even olive oil that i spread all ovr my face and im honestly waiting for a miracle to happen so tht all my dryness can magically disappear :( anyway i think i will try the healthy mix foundation, seems like it will work for us! good luck to u gurl hope ur skin gets better!
@leavingnormal8810 жыл бұрын
emma pemma The struggle is real haha. "Cold winters completely strips away all the moisture in my face"; stripping is the most appropriate word here, for sure! The dry, red, itch is the worst! I absolutely love the healthy mix foundation, though its colour selection is super limited unfortunately, but it feels (and looks) amazing on, and it smells gorgeous :D I've only been able to find it at (select) Shoppers Drug Mart, in Alberta at least. Thanks!

I've lived on the prairies and now live in Eastern Canada and work in the Arctic. It is such a challenge to adapt to such changes. I have found using a moisturizing spray (mac has one but others are avail) before moisturizing & applying foundation helps & I finish with the spray too. IN between I do a gentle scrub with brown sugar and honey and it takes off the dry stuff at the end of the day. And drinks LOTS of water- hydration starts in the body. Good luck :)

I have very, very dry skin and I like the Vitalumiere Aqua which is a thinner texture to the one mentioned here but I find it starts to flake during the day even when I prime. But I have only just discovered Nars Sheer Glow it is AMAZING. Beautifully glowy without being wet to touch and no flaking at all even when I rub it! By the end of the day it looks fantastic still 10/10.

Wish list: 1. Review of mineral foundations (that don't contain Bismuth Oxychloride, which does damages that are irreversible), like Lily Lolo, Barefaced Beauty and Everyday Minerals (Bare Minerals and others contain Bismuth!). 2. Foundation tips for ppl with serious skin conditions like Rosacea, Eczema and Psoriasis. 3. Tips for ppl who are "impossible" to match as we're neither black nor white (Persian, Afghan, Pakistani, Latinas, Arab, Italian, Greek, Turkish, Spanish etc.). We can have anything from pitch black hair and blue eyes or brown hair and brown eyes. And some are blonde with midtone skin and brown eyes (many Turks for ex.). The range is insane! MUAs at makeup counters always seem to want to make us more yellow, grey or tanned. And "at home" MUAs make us too pale and "ghostly". But we just want a perfect match. 4. Tips for 40+ ladies. 5. Great products for ppl on a very limited budget. 6. Specific product comparison, like "best gel liners" or "best cream blushes".

Lisa, I hope with all my heart that you read this! :) I have learnt SO MUCH from you and want to thank you from the bottom of my heart! Please never stop making these tutorials. You're the BEST on YT! I just want to tell you that I listened to your advice about not covering up everything when suffering from acne or scarring. So instead of buying a foundation for oily skin, I bought Vitalumière. It doesn't cover everything but it's buildable, esp. with a stippling brush. For the first time, my acne ridden face looked dewy, presentable and just really nice! And the products coming on top, like blusher, also looked much better. Usually, the skin starts to flake by that time, if I use a matte foundtn. I've learnt that foundations for oily skin just made my skin produce more oil as a compensation for the oil that was being matted down. Please Lisa, make tutorials about the following below, in my 2nd comment. Thanks a bunch, big hug!

Lisa, I can't thank you enough for making this video and the others in the series. I love Healthy Mix Serum and Bobbi Brown Stick foundations for my dry skin. Both can be thinned out and only used to conceal larger areas or built up to medium coverage. Sometimes I'll used them together - a thin layer of Healthy Mix Serum all over followed by Bobbi Brown Stick Foundation on larger areas that may need a little more to give myself a more flawless night-out look. Dry skin girls should give these a go!

I absolutely agree with the Bobbie Brown stick one. As someone with such dry skin that it actually burns in the winter, I cannot recommend it enough. Especially if you have a good primer. I love the Tarte BB Tinted Treatment 12-Hour Primer, because it's just a joy to apply the stick and get the flawles effect that I so crave. Also I am so pale that I reflect sunlight and this goes light enough for me. Great color range. And I am also really sensitive and this has caused no adverse reactions.

Or - how about a video on concealing very dry/flakey skin? When my skin gets really bad, its so flakey I can't wear any makeup, and concealer usually just emphasizes the flakiness in my experience. So I end up looking super patchy, with redness and flakes. How would you cover something like that up? Any concealers you would recommend that won't aggavate the dryness?
@ruths.55448 жыл бұрын
Extremely flakey skin - try Mac face and body ! The film would smooth over flakey dry skin. Ooh and I heard that the Dior nude skin concealer is great for texture issues - but that's not from experience as I don't own it :) X

Me too i have the same problem I cannot conceal anywhere on my face except under my eyes and sometimes around nose. I am super flakey especially when I get the break out. it's horrible but I do wear mufe face and body water blend and it has really helped me feel better. I highly recommend it but only if you won't mind light coverage it can be built up as well it is great definitely worth a try
@kennie398 жыл бұрын
Julia try these steps: 1. get rid of the flakeys as best you can. you could maybe use a soft toothbrush or dry washcloth 2. moisturize as much as possible before applying makeup. i really like moisturizers with lots of oils in them especially in the winter (if you are acne prone this might not be a good idea, but i'm not acne-prone and it works great for me) 3. use a silicone-based primer on the places with lots of texture (it might dry out your skin, so you would want to moisturize those places a lot before you put the primer on) 4. moisturize moisturize moisturize moisturize

Hi Julia, I suffer from a very dry skin and I have tried many things. I use cataphil gentle skin cleanser and cotton wool to get rid of the dead skin. It is soap free and works for dry and sensitive skin. It is my must do routine before applying makeup. For concealer I would recommend lasting perfection by collection. It is a drug store brand so it is affordable and works well too. Unfortunately they only have limited shades mostly light colours. .

Hey I hope you're doing okay! Benefit are great for brow products but Sleek also do a good brow kit that is nice and natural, although the products are pigmented strongly you can use with a fine brush to almost create fine hairs, also Mac eyebrow pencils are great. This couldn't have been timed better! I picked up a sample of the Bobbi Brown balm in Alabaster yesterday and have been playing around with it and love it! I am going to go out with it on tomorrow and check in daylight to see if the colour is right as it might be a teeny bit dark / yellow for me but only time will tell. Definitely good for very dry skin I find it so hard to find a liquid foundation that doesn't cling to dry skin :(

I don't have dry skin nor will I ever have it in the future (I'm as oily as a knob of butter!), but I still clicked on this video because your voice is so soothing :)
