@stevegeorge7773 That’s okay! I’m sure there are plenty of excellent games that wouldn’t appeal to me for one reason or another. I’m hopeful that this one gets a solo mode though, I kind of bought it with that in mind (fully knowing it’s a bit of a gamble). Otherwise I’ll have to shelve it for a decade until my kids are old enough to play with me! 🤣

@@table_for_one this to me is a bit one dimensional. Not that that’s bad, it’s just taste. Do you know about Garphill games? NZ designer. All his has solos and they are pretty solid in game play for small/boardering medium box games.

@stevegeorge7773 I've heard of a lot of the Garphill titles, but haven't played them. One of my friends pointed out Raiders of the North Sea at Gen Con and said it was one of his top two worker placement games (the other being Euphoria by Stonemaier). Almost bought it, but the price was high--maybe I'll pick it up used. I've also had Hadrian's Wall recommended to me a number of times, I should check that one out too. Do you have a favorite 1 or 2 games by Garphill?

@@table_for_one I do lean on the heavier side of games, compared to you; excluding Voidfall, Scythe and Anachrony-all with solid solos. The new solo automa for Terraforming Mars will be interesting as the original one is good imo. For Garphill he intentionally has, from day one, incorporated solo play. The iterations of his games, sophistication of mechanics and styles, theme, have matured his application of solos. I’ve four of his games. Paladins being the heaviest. And it can be a real real challenge in solo set up. Being in Australia his games for me are cheaper as the studio is just over the pond. The new Terra Mystica solo is really good too. Again this is a heavy euro, my style. I also have 4 of Vital Lacerda’s behemoths too; all with very very challenging solos; these to be very heavy (for some, me included) games. But they are, on the whole, exceptional games.

@stevegeorge7773 I really enjoy some heavy games! I just don't have as much time as I'd like to be able to play them--my kids are little and I'm self-employed, time is at a premium, haha. I know you're on the edge of your seat waiting for some Anachrony content! It's been a hard month for personal reasons, but I promise I will get to it if you're patient with me. In the meantime I'm filming more lighter/faster games right now just to get me through a tough period. You mentioned Lacerda--I've never played a Lacerda game, but I'm familiar with his reputation! Which of his would you recommend as a starting point? On Mars speaks to me the most thematically (no surprise there!), but I haven't compared his games from a mechanical perspective at all. I think I have enough games inbound/in need of more playthroughs at this particular moment, but I will eventually want to try a Lacerda for sure.
