I didn't know that this man was the founder until listening to a Pastor and he mention Thomas McClary So many times people will put other in front as if they made the song or made the show. This really bless me. I came up with this music back in the day.

The theme from Top Of The Pops was an instrumental called Machine Gun played by The Commodores. Great interview.

Met the Commodores when you traveled from Tuskegee up to NJ Palisades Amusement Park for Hal Jackson's show in 1969. You had an instrumental hit then Keep on Dancing.

Ahh, to this day I still regret having missed it. I remember a childhood friend in Manila telling me that she just watched THE COMMODORES the night before and she couldn't believe that I missed it - the venue was very close to my house. She was gushing about how awesome it was. MACHINE GUN was so famous in the country at that time, among all their hits.

Thy words themselves feel like they have been launched from a "MACHINE GUN", dear Lynne-of-Johnson. I love 'The Commodores' too ... and DO NOT WANT TO HEAR THEM 'REMIXED' ... OR 'BEE-BOPPED' ... OR TURNED INTO 'HOUSE MUSIC' ... Their organic-and-original sounds are inimitable-and-incontestable ... and best left as how they were originally presented and unveiled unto the world ... back in seventy-whatever!!!

We loveth The (dear) Commodores, Thomas McClary and the dear BBC interviewer. "TRULY", some of us do indeed still 'thirst' for good lyrics, melodies and harmonies, despite whatever is being hailed as the new sound!!! GOOD MUSIC WILL ALWAYS, EVEN IF NOT IMMEDIATELY, PUSH BAD MUSIC INTO A DITCH ... AND LEAVE IT THERE WHERE IT RIGHTLY BELONGS!!! SOMETIMES DECADES HAVE TO PASS FOR PEOPLE TO CATCH UP TO THAT FACT!!! Dear publisher Thomas McClary ... we kiss thee only in places where thou art comfortable being kissed ... we do not wish to make thee writhe and squirm in discomfort!!!

Yo Mastertung7 thank you for being a fan..some clarification of my statement regarding The Commodores wanting to be The Black Beatles....we studied the MARKETING-PROMOTION-CAMPAIGN and implemented some of those strategies. The first testing ground was the Philippines. In 1974, We were an unknown group in America at that time just like The Beatles weren’t big in England prior to coming to America. However, after releasing only our first LP “Machine Gun”, we implemented some of those same Beatles strategies (had screaming fans meet us at the airport when we landed, etc.) President Ferdinand Marcos summon the military to escort us to our hotel because the crowd was so enormous. Of course it warranted national television coverage. We were blessed with the late Milan Williams in our group who wrote the first hit “Machine Gun” and “ “The Bump” a dance that everyone in Asia was doing...thanks to everyone who made it happen for us 🙏

I met Thomas at Orlando Airport at midnight while waiting to pick up a friend around 1978ish. Back then you could wait at gate. He introduced himself and asked if I was waiting for him. I had no clue who he was so he brought out a photo of the group and signed it. Was supposed to call me next day after his radio interview. Who knows my life could have taken a different path.

Hello. I don't know if you remember me Mr. McClary. It's been years. You and some of the other guys came to Apopka, Fla in 1978 I believe when my grandfather died.( Morris Thompson). Me and my cousin took a picture with you. Mascara was in my eyes that day. Do you remember? My family members knew you when I didn't. Yall spotted me going to my dad's van.
