Then it is never mentioned what she does for a living or if she even works anything at all, but they live in a nice house? Which obviously is in her name since she plans to sell it. They could have at least make her character a writer or something. Why did the detective even go to talk to the doctor if he is a part of the cult and knows the truth? Why stop her when she summoned the demon?

The "twist" was actually an easy guess early on. Not bad. It was well written, acted, directed, and all around crafted. Very enjoyable. It's just a predictable trope by now. The moment he said "I believe you", I said "he's in on it." It's honestly more realistic to start off with doubts.

I disagree with you on the idea of it being her mind that causes the various “episodes” we see, but that of the demon, the entity clearly is possessive of his son, but seemingly can’t interact much physically with this world. It would make sense for both the cult and the demon to be working in tandem to hasten the end times.

I think that Paul was also trying to see if Laura actually needed to die or if she would help her son because he is her son, no matter where his father came from. I don't think he was ready to kill her until he saw what she was going to do to her son.

That moment when Paul said he believed her that there were people in the room was a dead giveaway he was part of the cult. Why would a cop do all of that stuff Paul did if he had no ulterior motive.
