Would have been a great end credit scene if the brother was shown in a hospital bed having survived his attempted suicide but was in a coma like the father. His wife watching over him from a chair and in the background they show the priest, out of frame, steering into the room from just outside the door.

In the past I was so thankful for the SCARY MOVIE franchise. Making fun of other actually scary movies helped my mind to recover from those images. Or I would watch the special features and the Making Of to calm down. Jeepers Creepers forked me up bad, but then I saw the creation of the monster and the actor underneath the costume.

@@randalljameshamiltonzwinge3845 Unfortunately, I had a bad first experience with the SCARY MOVIE franchise as I was kinda forced to watch the one with the Ring girl when I was very young and never was able to really enjoy them cause of the excessive Ring Girl related nightmares I suffered for months. I might make another attempt at watching the franchise sometime now that I'm no longer a scared child, though. Special features and Behind the Scenes content is also very good at helping the brain process the material :)

Yean your totally right, even the form he took of that preacher so the lady would ring him asking him why or how he came to know their mother all for it to upset him and remind him of his daughter, as well as the brother dying in his home with the wife and kids seeing it. Its like how can i use one person to cause as much torture/death/suffering to as many people as possible. Like a evil butterfly effect.

ooh I like that I like that theory kind of like a spider web that sends out pheromones to attract bugs so it can eat. if that pastor actually did know their mother or actually came across her at least once he probably had some kind of tragic happen and that demon was probably following him all over the place that's probably why he was in a hotel hiding and a demon was like nope I know where you are so that means there's another person in the movie that died we just didn't see it he probably killed himself right after he got off the phone with her

I think the father has a dark story which none of us knows. The devil wants the father to have a slow and painful death. What pain? Well, the mother mentioned in the dairy book that she could feel and hear the devil soaking his soul. Notice how everyone interfared heals and loves towards the father in order to cure him died brutally and aggressively? I think this is the case.
@VeryOddTimes
@VeryOddTimes 12 күн бұрын
I don’t think that’s what it is. Although it does make a ton of sense as well. I think it has to do with how they had mentioned about getting caught by a wolf, alone; so to speak. Spiritually, they were far away from the flock and the devil sees it as easy pickings. I also think that’s why they have so many shots of the sheep and goats. To parallel their togetherness; while even together, you can be slaughtered.

Still can't decide if this type of story and ending is a good subversion of expectations or just a huge waste of time. What am I suppose to take away from this?...Everyone is literally doomed to die the second they appear on screen after awhile it just becomes dead, dead, dead, dead dead, ending. Riveting.
@mdeptawa1
@mdeptawa1 3 жыл бұрын
@pyro wolf I agree, but this one leans more into waste of time territory rather than subverting of expectations for me. I feel like films like The Witch and Midsommar (SPOILERS) where there is a character win really makes a good ending when changing it up. In that sense I Just mean like while the daughters family died in the witch, she didn’t and made her own choice and joined the coven, and the lead in midsommar made her choice to murder her boyfriend. It makes the film easier to accept like oh these characters I grew to like survived which fields a little part of joy in our brain but also knowing that their new life might be worse but it’s what they wanted. In this type of ending it feels like this was the predestined outcome, exemplified by the fact even when the brother left he still died (and had love with his family so like the message of the movie makes no fucking sense, like love fights off the devil but he had it but still died??? Idk seems just kind of bullshit). Films like final destination can get away with it, but that’s only because they were escaping death at different points and they weren’t always for sure ways they were going to die and a lot ended up missing or not killing creating suspense. This one the devil almost never missed and just fucked with u, never in the movie did I think damn there’s no way the devil succeeds. It was simple in its design but with how powerful they made the devil in this I think them living would’ve been a subvert to my expectations considering how the movie built him up and killed the surrounding characters with little to no effort. Thank you for reading this if you read it all, here’s a gold star :) ⭐️

Its shallowness is exactly the point, the maid/nurse lady says it in the film, there are bad things in the world and they come for who ever they want, the film is purely just to illustrate the cruelty of the devil, picked them at random mentaly tortured/killed them simply because he could. Even the maids bible quotes didn't save her. Thats just the nature of evil it doesn't always have to be deep and when it comes it comes theres no running (the brother dying) thought the film proved its point well. Im not superstitious nor do i believe in the supernatural but the film was pretty effective at times.

I started suffering from terrible nightmares after my mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and quickly became more than my Dad could handle and we moved her to a home for women suffering from the same disease. The nightmare in this movie is so much like my own , that feeling of dread so overwhelming that I can't move and I wake up sobbing, sometimes two or three times a night. Probably shouldn't have watched this but I love ENDINGS EXPLAINED. Real life is sometimes worse.

I feel like “the devil” is like a metaphor for depression and mental health. People who are lonelier and in tougher situations are way more vulnerable than those who are supported by a net of loved ones and positive care. The message is to always go beyond in order to help others, even when it’s tough for you to do so. That way you can do something positive regardless of how bad you feel, and maybe others will do the same. It’s about not letting go of hope and doing everything you can to help others in order to keep people from sinking in their own negativity. That’s kind of what I got from it, probably not explained as well as I could have but you get the point.
