I think this is my favorite video by you so far. It shows a lot of vulnerability but also it's so real. Opera is EXTREMELY hard #work. I just started learning it this year because I want to sing it professionally one day! Beautiful

I'm just blown away by the way you hit those notes and made those sounds... I had goose bumps.. to be very honest, I could never detect the need of an adjustment be it placements or resonance.. you're just too good!! Keep up the good work!! Thank you Freya! I loved watching you rehearse. Please make more classical videos! So validating! I do the same when I rehearse my choral pieces...repeating and adjusting for proper placement pitch and tone. Making faces and laughing at myself sometimes

Lovely! I am a musical theatre and contemporary singer. My voice teacher has given me some opera arias and art songs so I can practice singing cleanly through the phrases without stopping the breath. My challenge is to practice taking full, rib-expanding breaths and exhaling all the way through the phrase. It's gotten considerably better in the past five months, but it's still a challenge.

Not my music at all but still interesting. I am about to teach myself some harder vocals like screaming and raspy singing, so this is helpful to see how other people practise. I also love to experiment with my voice.

I can , and will spend a lot of time watching this video 👌🏻... not to necessarily work towards singing the aria, but totally honing in the differences in sound with the tiny changes... that I shall practice, so I can use such tools with more awareness and confidence 👍🏻 Dare I ask for more similar? in the future? I know you post “ how to sing that song” where you break down singing of a song, and likely if I revisit those I shall note similar advice.... as I continue in my journey, I am excited to realise how I listen on a new level as my awareness, perception, increases . I can squeak around from C6 - B6 and hit occasional accidental notes higher than that while practicing whistle notes, but F2-A5 is my current singing range. believe I am a high Baritone/Tenor in rudimentary terms.

Freya Casey - I very rarely actually sing songs that go beyond E5 since most pop music I like doesn’t take me beyond that, however, like any ambitions person I find myself reaching for the impossible to test my limits and make further discoveries about myself. Opera is a great way for me to experiment with high notes since it is separated by voice types and that is what brought me here. Ironically, I practice everything every day using your warmup routine, including changing volume on notes etc. and it has helped tremendously. In this case I will lower the pitch until I reach the top of my head voice and mimic the techniques and thought processes to see how it affects my voice tone and colors, then record myself and play it back.

Freya, I love your videos, really, but opera is supposed to be sung with darker sound. That is why it is opera and not pop. That is the way it should be sung and also gives you a lot of resonance. Singing with a high larynx is not the best option, it creates a lot of tension. I know that you don't think the same but I felt the necessity to mention it. And also I don't get the lack of chest voice in opera singers, it gives the real power to low notes, not head voice. Head voice is supposed to be used in the high register, not in the low. Well, I ain't a hater, but my sincere opinion.
