Fountain 47' Lightning Redesigned

The Fountain 47' Lightning is a classic and the powerboat builder has redesigned it for today's buyer. Upgrades include Mercury Racing Dual Cal 1550/1350 engines, new bolsters, a frame-less windshield. @@enginepy I agree he was not on his game. The big boys might let him go if they watch this video. Speaking of Fountain videos, watch the SpeedracerZ videos of that boat doing poker runs in Sweden and one they did going to Finland. That boat has 3x1350s in it and there weren't any boats I saw that could stay with it except for one other 47 and even that one couldn't when SpeedracerZ really dropped the hammer. (BTW don't even ask their top speed they won't say.)

The fountain 47 has always been my favorite boat. I love the new features but it’s hardly a redesign, just a facelift and some updates. Still my favorite

Did I understand that correctly? One engine is rated at 1350 HP and the other at 1550 HP?

No same power both motors 1350/1550 flip a switch to go from 1350 to 1550HP. then change the fuel from 91-93 over to race gas for the 1550 setting. Not sure abt rating but 105-108 octane should keep the engines safe.

@@dieseldog00 you’re right Everett, but they have two smaller fuel tanks I believe around 80 gallons. That’s fuel for your 1,550 should you need it when a Cig trues to pass you, you flip over to the race fuel. The big tanks will need at least 93 octane for your daily cruising. A pain because you need to get to a speed shop for the race fuel, if you want just a bit more of a kick you can buy oxygenated fuel that extra oxygen will help with a cleaner burn. Not trying to correct you sir, I’m an ex drag racer and know my fuels. If I hit the lottery there will be one in my driveway. Cheers.

I think the old windshield looks a lot better. Also that new windshield looks so low that even when you sit down, you are looking over it instead of through it. This will also result in you getting pummelled by wind when you stand in the bolsters. From an actual drivers perspective, the older tall mid 2000’s windshield made for a great actual driver more than a trailer queen only suitable for calm warm days. To me that design looks like there is no protection for the elements to duck down behind in cooler or wet days. Not a fan and it kinda looks like the windshield from an early 90’s RC boat.

I agree on the windshield. The old stainless windshield frame gave Fountains (as well as my Formula Fastech) a look of quality and strength. The frameless windshield looks cheap.

Well take a 42 and put 1650s in it. That would tell the tale. OL holds the record at 180.41 with a 43 and 1650s.

Completely redesigned, Mercury came out with new motors a few years ago. And we have, I dunno, a finish engine bay. Goodness, bankers can't build boats. Thanks Reggie, too bad these clowns have no clue where to go with it.
