I turned forty recently and have silently been pretty down about it. This is just the sort of film I needed to remind myself that the choice to keep my lifestyle exactly what I want it to be, irrespective of age, is just that... a choice. Great film. Thank you, Mike. Keep it up.

"The goal wasn't an end point, it's just a kick in the ass to get up and seize the day." -- Wise words Mike and a great little story.

Age is somewhat in your head. I read a lot of comments about being in forty and I know where you are coming from as I once felt the same way. I am now 60 and I view my forties as when I was still young. I boot up at the same spot in the same lodge all winter long and there are many older men and women doing the same during the week days, many are in their 70 s and 80s. There advice is pretty much just keep hitting it, which is what I have done all my life. No I don't ski bumps all day but when they are soft I do, I pick my days to hit it harder. In the off season I Mt. bike and hike. I am not chasing my youth I just am happy making turns in the hardwoods on a good day and the groomers on the not as good days. I would also say surround yourself with positive like minded people. That snow in this video looks like heaven.

Glad it resonated like this Scott. Your story is super inspiring too. Keep having fun on the slopes whether it's on the trails or on virgin powder. 🙏 (And yes, we have to admit the snow was amazing in Japan!)
@seanezoskibum59755 жыл бұрын
This is exactly how I feel, and exactly why I live in Hokkaido, Scott. I'm not trying to relive glory days, but I just want to enjoy every day and be as healthy as I can so I hike, bike (road & mtn), do weights, and trail run all just to be able to ski all day long for as many days as I can throughout the winter. The diet here is amazing, and onsen are like the icing on the cake. Especially when it's snowing. Heaven.

I’ve watched this one twice now. Once in 2019 and just now with Harry (9 years) and Edward (11 years). I’ve been fortunate to meet Mike Douglas and he is among the most remarkable people I have come across while clawing my way through the past 194 countries without flying. That says a lot as I have been fortunate to meet many people! Well done ❤️ #SagaBingeWatchingSalomonTV

Never got any further than a 360 myself but last winter I did kind of the same journey and revisited the park to inspire my son. 37 and still got it, now I´m actually thinking about stepping it up going for a 540 this winter and possibly a 720. This movie helps inspire.

I just turned 56 this year and I have fallen in love with skiing again. I my youth I lived skiing, I then took time off while I raised my children. A buddy asked me to go to Utah 9 years ago and I have been skiing every since. I plan to go out west every year till I physically am not able. This movie gives me hope that that will be many years from now!

Great video, thanks! Another important contributor to better health outcomes, and longevity could have something to do with the way communities, and social groups are organized. Researchers attributed the lower levels of heart disease among the people of Roseto, Pa, to their extended families, and tight-knit communities. Of course, diet, exercise, genetics, and the environment are also contributing factors. Malcolm Gladwell talks about this town in his book Outliers.

I skied for many years with a man 30 years older. We don’t see each other as much now, but he is now in his 90s and still skis every day of the season. He told me a long time ago that he made sure he skied every day, even if only one run, because at his age, if he missed a week or two, he might never come back! Even today, he skis fast and fluidly. People cannot see that he is an old man from the chair and regularly address him as a young person, if they don’t look closely on the chair. Most of all - my time with him took away my fears of aging and taught me that my best skiing days are probably still ahead of me. It’s not about the show.
