"It is RIDICULOUSLY smotth and wet. Um...I hope no one's watching this with closed captions out of context". HILARIOUS!

I have the black in XF and the burgundy in F. Of the close to 100 pens in my collection these are top tier in terms of gorgeous design. Very similar to my Waterman Carene with the inset nib, but short when closed. They are excellent in every regard. And if you want to see the ink level of your special ink…don’t use a converter. Simple. Just refill cartridges with a syringe. Quick and easy. Very good review here. Thanks.

It’s well made, very similar to the original Elite. Thats why it looks vintage. These Japanese long/short pens were popular in the 60s and 70s. They are not pocket pens in a way we understand pocket pens today. It was shirt pocket pen designed to fit exactly in the shirt pocket.

+alex mood I knew they were similar to vintage Japanese pocket pens, because I've seen them on eBay very often, but I didn't know they were intended for shirt pockets. Thanks for the info!

I think this is certainly the most elegant pocket pen I have seen. I prefer the looks of this pen to a Kaweco for example.

+David Anderson I do too. I really like the burgundy version. They look very classy in comparison to most pocket pens.

The "gap" you're complaining about is the snap cap mechanism

While I have seen lots of people complementing the pen to which I happen to agree I must say that I also agree with you in everything that you say I wish I find something I can argue about with you but no. All your points are very well observed. Thank you.

I don't think anyone would use this pen without the cap. Posted it's a compact, useful device.

I got the vintage model in an auction at a really good price. The negative features you describe are absent in mine. Same pen with slight differences in the new model.

I think the nibs on mine--I have a M and a F--are better BECAUSE of their lack of excessive ornamentation. The design of the entire pen is unostentatious yet elegant. A difference: The black Elite that I have does NOT have a spring-loaded clip. I can't locate my burgundy version, so I haven't been able to check the clip yet. The pen fulfills two design ideals: 1. Engineering: Keep it simple 2. Design: Less is more.

I had the vintage ones from platinum, sailor, and pilot. Sailor had a 21k nib

I have a brass Liliput with EF nib and I am considering acquiring E95S, but I am not sure it is worth it. Is the writing experience that much different in your opinion?

Very very different. E95S is much better in my opinion.

@@JakesTake I bought my 2 Elite pens (black XF and burgundy F):at the big A for about $90 each, delivered. That’s a crazy price for a beautiful Pilot quality pen with a 14K gold nib. One huge difference for you will be the weight. The Elite is very, very light in the hand. The Lilliput Brass feels like a brick in comparison. 😄. With these two pens riding in a protected coat or shirt pocket and a pad of Cosmo Air Light paper carried in my pant’s cargo pocket I’m ready for a day of urban sketching or a leisurely walk in the woods, recording the wonders of nature. Gotta be the lightest, simplest field kit out there.

The nib on this pen has no intricate design and pattern like once you would find on other pen.. yet it look so gorgeous and elegant..

Mine has just a cursive E instead of the full word Elite. I wonder why. I love this pen. I have it in EF and ink flow is surprisingly generous. Mine is the burgandy one, which kind of makes me think of hotels lol. It's a really cool design. I've bought enough pens off Amazon from Japanese retailers with no problems that even if I got a broken pen I've more than saved enough money. The price hike is usually 100 to 200 dollars. You do have to wait 2 months tho with free shipping. But I never have had to pay customs, because they tend to lie about price of pen lol. So it's definitely cheating to some extent. One day I'll get burned.

I really like the burgundy one! And I've noticed several have just the E on it. I believe it depends on where you buy it from.

Would you happen to have a link for a source? Cause I'm seeing the E95s on Goulet and the Elite 95s on JetPens for the same price. Also, my Elite 95s explicitly says "made in Japan". I'd love to read more into it if you have any links.

Huh. I actually bought this one from a Japanese seller, but he stated in the video that it couldn't be sold in Japan. Also the band on mine matches the E95s in his video, even including the Pilot Japan part. Didn't have the green sticker either. And it definitely has a gold inlaid nib. Interesting.

It is somewhat slick compared to other pens, but I didn't have it become a major issue. Thanks for the link! Good luck!

If it his “elite” on the cap, it is a grey market pen. The North American pen has only an “e”.
@antonanker583
@antonanker583 4 жыл бұрын
That’s not accurate. The “Elite” marking on the cap is indicative that the pen was marketed in the Asian market and not in the North American market

I prefer just the “E” it’s more clean imo of course
