I have two Kaweco sports and one Perkeo. Although I've been writing with fountain pens for many, many years, I still love beginners' pens more than more expensive models. Both Kaweco models have very good ink flow. I prefer the length the Perkeo.

I really like my Perkeo. I like the simple design, the pleasant color schemes, the plastic's light weight and the elegantly pointy nib. I even like the included Kaweco blue ink cartridge. It would make an excellent beginners pen and an every-day-carry.

Kaweko Perkeo vs. Pilot Kakuno might make for a better comparision.

I can see where you're going with that. I think I'd agree. They have some similarities and appear to be priced fairly similarly (though I've had to import my kakunos so they cost me more & took longer to arrive). I'd probably prefer the Kakuno both for the nib and the feel in my hand, but I find both are good pens and are solid enough to use as a daily driver.

The Perkeo has been a surprise for me -- I spent little on it. It's not much of a pen, simple plastic and a non-replaceable nib. But it writes well, has been consistent, and it's so durable. I love this pen. It's not my most impressive pen, but it is ALWAYS in m pocket. Unlike other pens I own, it can handle just being the pen in my pocket.

I also much prefer the Sport, but I can see where the Perkeo would have a certain appeal, especially, as has been mentioned, as a beginner's pen. And I must be the only person who doesn't mind facets being on the grip section. :-) I found out by accident that the plain Kaweco "Royal Blue" cartridge that you get with the pen is actually a pretty well-behaved ink that doesn't feather or bleed too much. Thanks for the video, Stephen! That stainless steel Sport of yours is gorgeous.

I have both Kaweco as a travelling combo, with the Perkeo working as both workable pen, and cartridge storage, as both accept the same cartridges. With a plastic case, it makes travelling with pens easy.

I bought the 'Perkeo' a soon as I saw it in a shop. Mine had a very tight nib, and needed a bit of work on the nib gap, but now it's so smooth, very comfortable to me, very light in the hand. A new nib design, and fairly unusual feed shape, but I would have liked a clip, maybe it will be available in the near future? Mine cost £15 in the UK.

I have a number of Kaweco metal/plastic sports including the Caligraphy sets. The main attraction being their quality and novelty. I recently bought a Perkeo Caligraphy set. I added the 2 italic sections to the Perkeos I already had to get more use out of them. Long Jacques Herbin cartridges will fit & work in the Perkeo if you want to use a different, flashier ink.

Nice video Stephen. I would only add that an advantage of the perkeo is that you can use a standard international cartridge converter with it. This makes it a much more appealing option for me.

Thanks so much! Was considering the Perkeo but might look into the Sport instead! I have a Kakuno that already has a similar design to the Perkeo

My interest is in the Kaweco Perkeo. I like the simplicity and colours. Maybe I would favour the Kaweco Sport if I didn't already have a Delike brass pocket pen (the one with War and Peace etched on the side). The Delike, clearly borrows a lot of design elements from the Sport but has the added advantage of being long enough to accept a standard international converter . It also has a clip included for the price. I understand a clip is extra with the Kaweco. So having got the Delike I am more interested in the Perkeo. Thanks Stephen for this shootout.

Neat comparison! Thanks. For me, the unique features of the sport definitely give it the edge.

Great review. One question, does the Sport clip fits the Perkeo?? The perkeo clip is ugly!!!

Interesting comparison. I have both pens though my sport is plastic. I have one of those generic brass pen pseudo sport clones as well, which is dimensionally similar to the sport. I probably prefer my Perkeo. Even though both are plastic in my case, the Perkeo feels more substantial. The plastic sport I have seems a little fragile. However I've also found the sport nib to be less scratchy than the Perkeo. Both are decent pens and would make a good EDC for me. All very subjective though.

The Perkeo just launched in India for about US$18-20. I was waiting for your review. :)

I think an additional advantage of the Perkeo is that it's easier to find a converter for it.

I thought these were wet nibs. Apparently not. Or is it just the ink being used perhaps?
@T_B13 жыл бұрын
The sport looks like a cool pen but the ink capacity of its squeese and push converter is tiny compared to the standard international that's why I went for the perkeo

I agree. I prefer the Sport. The Perkeo is an interesting idea for those who don't like pocket pens, though I prefer the Lamy Safari at that level.

Kaweco F nibs are terrible in Sport. In Perkeo is good. I love Perkeo. The Sport design in plastic feels like a cheap toy except it is pricy.
