Six of us chartered a 2018 Lucia 40 in the BVI this past January. No complaints about the boat sailed well got her up to 10 knots even quite comfortable for all six adults I'm 6 ft 2 and was in that v-berth on the port side. My wife and i just turned our heads to the door and was comfortable sleeping not crowded at all. I did find the helm controls awkward behind the wheel.

Eh, if the anchor was out on the bowsprit I'd agree the anchor is too big. Having it toward the center of motion I say a couple sizes oversized is not oversized when it comes to an anchor.

I agree with your takes and having learned just from watching your channel and I do not sail....YET!!!!! But I agree with your sentiments on that boat.......COCKPIT was poorly setup(ergonomics/screen wise).......Whomever designed it was more a layout person(INterior design ASPECT) than a Sailor. Always make the helm PRIORITY ONE!!!!!!! Captain first(HELM MOTOR/S, SAILS, MAST, Anchor) then Creature comforts.

Terrible helm station control and line placement. Similar deign with the 42 controls, better with separate line control. I agree with you on sharing head and missing shower door on a 40’ boat. We sailed an Isla in January….not bad performance but tight for a group larger than 4 adults

I don't know why more companies don't make their catamarans with a door to the front like the Leopard or Bali. I think that is the greatest feature by far, but then again just my opinion.

It can really impact the layout of the rest of the cat. The space in the hull it takes up would otherwise be locker space, lounges, or even a cabin with some manufacturers. (Aquila, Privilege) Its a cool feature, but the two biggest benefits are air circulation and getting up to the bow more directly. The first can be overcome with large Safari style windows. And the second is 30 paces extra. Any boat is inherently a bunch of compromises. When they are smaller, the compromises needed for a forward facing door are greater. It seems to be around 50+ feet that can better incorporate the design. The other factor is cost. A well engineered front opening door probably adds tens of thousands to a build. It needs to be strong enough to deal with waves, and have the ability to drain the water in a matter of seconds.

The helm would be horrible. No wind or rain block, imagine steering into a driving rain for a few hours. Steering into a 20 knot headwind would become unpleasant very quickly. Agree with you, helm is a major weak point.
